“I HAVE NO MAN”
I love the encounter between Jesus and the man that was lame for 38 years as found in the Gospel of John 5:2-9.
Jesus asked the man if he would be made whole, however the crippled man did not answer this yes/no question from the Lord. Instead his response was, “Sir, I have no man”. He had nobody to help him enter the pool of water at Bethesda after the angel stirred the waters and made them into healing waters.
Many times in our life we can SEE the solution, the deliverance, the healing and the answer RIGHT IN FRONT OF US but we are unable to attain it. How frustrating!
Often we have relegated ourselves to depending upon another person to bring us to our deliverance. A level of frustration develops as we see those around us, in similar situations, attain their healing, deliverance or blessing. We can easily fall into a state of hopelessness and depression.
38 years is a long time to have others step over you and physically prevent you from receiving that which you NEED!
Jesus asked the man a simple question: Do you want to be made whole? Of course he wanted to be healed!!! But in his frustration of watching himself fall short of his healing for 38 years he didn’t initially recognize who he was conversing with. He responded by saying nobody will help him. He thought the pool at Bethesda was his only solution and his only hope.
Jesus recognized the man’s condition and gave him a command to follow: Rise up, take your mat/bed and walk. He was instantly healed.
As the man waited 38 years for the angel to stir the waters… standing right before him was The Living Waters. It is said that when there are rough or stirred waters that they are considered “alive”. Just one word from the Living Waters was enough to bring his healing and deliverance.
The Bible doesn’t reveal to us what sin the man committed that potentially put or kept him in that condition. Jesus instructions were simply, “GO and SIN NO MORE!”
People can help, but they can also disappoint. The Living Waters never disappoints. He never fails. He always heals. Always delivers. Always restores. Always satisfies. Always redeems.
Have you been waiting, in frustration, for a solution to your dilemma or situation? Have you been hoping that someone will help bail you out of your crisis?
Today, the Holy Spirit is asking you a similar question. Will you rely on Me, your Creator to help you or will you rely on others and remain in your frustrated condition?
Will your response be, “I have no man!”
Or will it be, “Yes Lord I’m standing on Your Word and I’m healed.”
Choose Jesus and be made whole.
