Curiosity
I am watching “Into the Wild” while FostM folds laundry. Very interesting. Lots of nature sounds.
Where is it?
There has been no running after ball in the back yard since the warm weather has turned the snow into ice. Walks are much slower too since FostM fell. I burn off pent up energy in the house with a minute or so of crazy.
Here I am searching for my squeaky ball when there was still snow.
I have no problem entertaining myself.

Hey, FostM! There’s a ball in here somewhere!

Come and get it!
Woke up.
Out for a pee.
KONG!
Worried toys.
Played fetch.
Went for a walk. (FostM — did excellent. Only pulled upon seeing a squirrel, one jump and stopped)
Stole FostM’s mitt. Hshshahaha!
Sleep.
Yaaaaaay! We went for a walk, TWO walks, finally. FostM put a harness and a lead on today. I hardly pulled at all. And this afternoon, and this morning we played ball. FostM didn’t have very good aim though. The ball went into the window wells a bunch of times.
My favourite squeaky toy I rescued from the head of a stuffy soldier. It is so much fun. Watch below.
For some reason there has been a change in the schedule since Sunday night. On our walk that night I almost caught a RABBIT! It went right under my nose and I managed to get three good jumps after it before FostM stopped me. We haven’t been for a walk since (pulled bicep’s muscle and hyper extended elbow, I wouldn’t be able to hold him even if he only pulled!).
It is okay though because we have been playing ball instead. Two, some times three times a day! I am getting really good at it. Some times I can even catch the ball in mid air if FostM bounces it really high. Each time we play really long. I go until I start breathing in snow and coughing, then we go in and I get a cup of kibble in the KONG! I have it all figured out. If I toss it in the air the kibble flies out. I have also learned it rolls better on the carpet than the floor. It doesn’t take very long to empty it. A little while later FostM fills my puzzle bowl.
I have learned a few things. Barking, I have a really big voice I direct at people in the back lane. I stay down in my kennel until the door opens. I sit, stay and wait until FostM says okay after she puts the puzzle bowl down. She even used the broom to push me away while I was eating. I just waited until she said it was okay to go back. Weird. I don’t try to play when FostM is putting on her boots and coat. I wait at the door to go out.
I’ve been with FostM for a week now. Friday night we went for a walk soon after sunset. I am learning what ‘left side’ means. I don’t cut off FostM as much. I just watch other dogs go by now, I don’t try to meet them, unless they are running with their humans. Same goes for squirrels and rabbit, although I only get a little excited.
Back to the walk, at one of the intersections there was a loud bang. I didn’t start or bark. I looked up in the sky and there was light shooting up into the air, exploding, falling back down to earth, light slowly going out. There were a bunch of booms and whistles, fizzle sounds as the falling lights faded. Curiously curious. Sort of neat.
Saturday morning FostM let me out of my kennel and then outside. Crunchy SNOW! I found the frozen tennis ball while she pushed snow off the deck. I tossed it in the air, pounced on it, chased it, ran around like a crazy goof carrying it. FostM could barely shovel a path, not that I needed one, she was laughing so hard. So excited, the snow made such a wonderful sound when I ran through it, and ran and ran and ran. So much FUN! Then back inside for breakfast while the driveway was shovelled. I still wanted to play in the snow when it was walk time, I forgot everything I am supposed to do. By the time the evening walk time arrive I was paying a little more attention.
I am figuring out there is a rhythm here. FostM gets up, softly tells me good morning, turns on the light. I stay down in my kennel, she lets me out side for a pee. I run around a little(except yesterday), return inside to a kong with some nibbles. FostM drinks coffee while I worry toys and snuggle until we go for first walk. Then it’s BREAKFAST TIME! If FostM doesn’t go anywhere in the car I nap on the bed. If not I quietly wait in my kennel for her to come back. Early after noon it is fetch time outside. FostM has two balls, throws one and when I bring it back throws the second. Unfortunately after a half ho
FostM took this video of my antics tonight. Then I got a little tired and lifted my head up and back over my shoulders to see why she was laughing. It WAS funny, seeing her upside down!
Two miles worth of walks today. FostM’s sister stopped by to exchange potatoes for sugar. ??? She has doggie smells all around her, I’m afraid I didn’t make a good first impression, but I did calm down toward the end.
There are sooooooo many bunnies in the neighbourhood. I can smell them before FostM sees them, didn’t fool her though. She wouldn’t let me bolt beyond the length of my lead. Spoil sport.
Chewing down on the big hard toy with the yummy soft centre. It takes so much work to get it out!
