Another busy day. Played ball. Destroyed one, my favourite one. FostM should know better than to leave me alone with stuff. She is on a spring cleaning binge. I follow her everywhere. Everything is soooo interesting !
We had a long walk. Worked on staying ‘off’ when we met people. Almost passed, might have if FostM hadn’t run out of treats. I am improving on recall when playing in the back yard. I AM getting better at so many things.
FostM is such a push over, she gave me a crumb of her steak. I sat patiently until she gave in. Snuggle time until kennel.

I had the best day! FostM and I played fetch. She gave me three square meals, and a bone. I took it outside with me when she let me out to go p*e and when I didn’t bring it back she asked “Where is it? Where’s your bone?” I went back outside, found it, brought got it back and I got a treat! I’m so smart.
Then I watched tv while FostM did housework. Well, I did follow her around when she left the room.
Then we went for a long walk in the sun. It was beautiful. I only pulled a couple times. Once when a Boxer came running to the fence of his yard snd growled and barked at me. I returned the favour and lunged to get close. Later I got really excited when a pair of Pit Bulls passed on the other side of the street and gave me a threatening stare. FostM made me sit until they passed but when they got further down the street I got a little excited. (He REALLY has been walking great the last few days. Still double leads)
I raced around the yard when we got home, had dinner. Now I am probably sleeping for the rest of the evening.
Although, I haven’t had cuddles yet. I’m gonna have to schedule that in later.

I am watching “Into the Wild” while FostM folds laundry. Very interesting. Lots of nature sounds.

It was 1 year ago today that Otis along with his brother Snoopy and sister Nomi were rescued. We were fortunate to foster Nomi until she found her forever home. All 3 pups were in rough shape but were very loving. We hope Otis finds his forever home soon. He looks like a wonderful boy. If he is anything like his siblings, he'll be a great addition to any family.

There has been no running after ball in the back yard since the warm weather has turned the snow into ice. Walks are much slower too since FostM fell. I burn off pent up energy in the house with a minute or so of crazy.
Here I am searching for my squeaky ball when there was still snow.

Hey, FostM! There’s a ball in here somewhere!

FostM could use some practice at action taking videos.

Hi everyone! It’s been awhile since FostM has posted an update. She has not been feeling well.
I am really settling in, jumping up less, practicing patience when FostM prepares for us to go out side.
I 🤎🤎🤎 going OUTSIDE and running through the snow. FostM throws the ball, I find some deep snow, drop the ball in it, pounce on it to drive it in really deep and then dig, dig, dig to get it out. The other day I had my head right in the snow up to my shoulders! So much fun and very entertaining for FostM. I 🤎 the snow, but not the really cold temperatures. My ears get chilly too quick and I want to go back inside. FostM and I have been playing fetch in the house instead, it is not as much fun, but I don’t play tug of war as much, and usually I just put whatever she is throwing in her hand. Fetch is followed up with a KONG snack and a nap.
I whine to go outside for potty, I go to my kennel when told, I stay calm when FostM comes home from work. I am walking pretty good on two leashes. I am becoming a good alarm system with a big bark and I enjoy chatting with the neighbour boxer and little Pomeranian across the back lane. At least I come in the house when FostM calls me.
Best part of the day is snuggling with FostM and getting belly rubs. She is really good at it.
Miss Chris M should be pleased I have put on a little weight. (I really enjoy my food). I love people and am good with other dogs.

I’m waiting … throw it already.

It is very noisy outside tonight. If the bangs and crackles sound close I can see lights exploding in the sky. I am not barking or upset, just very curious as to what is happening.

FostM is feeling under the weather, her coughing keeps waking me up. I am being a good boy though, matching her energy level and playing fetch with the wubba and squeaky ball.

New lessons tonight. Learned ‘give’ and ‘drop it’. So much more fun to play tug of war though. FostM is such a party pooper.

A new twist on an old game. Play with the ball, jump on the bed, nose it until it falls off. Make sure it falls near the nightstand so it rolls under the bed. Crawl under the bed to retrieve. Repeat.

FostM writes — road trip cancelled, snow, slippery highways, broken glasses. Thank goodness for autocorrect

FostM writes — Huge progress since the regular walks have resumed. I have two leads, one attached to a harness, one to Otis’ collar. The collar lead passes between his front legs. He rarely pulls, he does walk ahead, but not at an unreasonable pace. Success. This morning he didn’t even go after squirrel!
Otis really is an intelligent, active boy. He rarely barks (3 x in 2 weeks). Enjoys a cuddle. Loves to play. Is obedient unless situation is out of the ordinary. Very responsive to the mood of the handler. Calm, quiet commands work the best, difficult in an excitable situation. The latter is getting better though. High stamina. Sit, stay, wait, heal, left side, kennel, down, mine, out, where is it? (when we are fetching).
He learns quickly. He will make an awesome companion.

Woke up.
Out for a p*e.
KONG!
Worried toys.
Played fetch.
Went for a walk. (FostM — did excellent. Only pulled upon seeing a squirrel, one jump and stopped)
Stole FostM’s mitt. Hshshahaha!
Sleep.

Yaaaaaay! We went for a walk, TWO walks, finally. FostM put a harness and a lead on today. I hardly pulled at all. And this afternoon, and this morning we played ball. FostM didn’t have very good aim though. The ball went into the window wells a bunch of times.
My favourite squeaky toy I rescued from the head of a stuffy soldier. It is so much fun. Watch below.

For some reason there has been a change in the schedule since Sunday night. On our walk that night I almost caught a RABBIT! It went right under my nose and I managed to get three good jumps after it before FostM stopped me. We haven’t been for a walk since (pulled bicep’s muscle and hyper extended elbow, I wouldn’t be able to hold him even if he only pulled!).

It is okay though because we have been playing ball instead. Two, some times three times a day! I am getting really good at it. Some times I can even catch the ball in mid air if FostM bounces it really high. Each time we play really long. I go until I start breathing in snow and coughing, then we go in and I get a cup of kibble in the KONG! I have it all figured out. If I toss it in the air the kibble flies out. I have also learned it rolls better on the carpet than the floor. It doesn’t take very long to empty it. A little while later FostM fills my puzzle bowl.

I have learned a few things. Barking, I have a really big voice I direct at people in the back lane. I stay down in my kennel until the door opens. I sit, stay and wait until FostM says okay after she puts the puzzle bowl down. She even used the broom to push me away while I was eating. I just waited until she said it was okay to go back. Weird. I don’t try to play when FostM is putting on her boots and coat. I wait at the door to go out.
