Our rescue team is derived of compassionate individuals that love animals and aspire to create a life-saving impact within our community. We are a group of rescuers that commit our time and skills toward a pursuit of a No Kill, a community that saves at least 90% of the homeless pet population through a comprehensive adoption program, a spay/neuter progra

m, a recovery program, care homeless program and foster program community development, cooperation with other rescue groups and shelters and a variety of other life-saving programs that revolve around the goal of saving lives and keeping pets and their people together. ABOUT US

A Goran's strays rescue center is an incorporated nonprofit rescue group, located in Svilajnac, Serbia, that was established out of our love and passion for providing an opportunity and better quality of life for homeless pets. We offer a No Kill alternative that provides life saving programs and invaluable resources for pets and pet owners within our community. Through outreach, education, and service, we are committed to ending the killing of homeless cats and dogs within our community. OUR MISSION

We have a No Kill mission to save the lives of homeless cats and dogs abandoned and/or placed in kill shelters, while also providing life saving programs and services to keep pets and their people together. Remarkable recovery- meet Nick 🐕

This lucky boy was rescued by Goran a few years ago, he was visibly in an emaciated state and wouldn't have survived much longer on the streets. He was taken to the vets who ran different tests to check for disease and he was positive for heartworm. Unfortunately this lovely doberman 'Nick' who was only a few years old was also anaemic, had very poor skin and fur condition and needed specialist food and nutrients to help build his body condition back up.
Following several visits to the vets, ongoing treatment and plenty of love and care - Nick made a full recovery and was able to be vaccinated and neutered ready to be adopted, finally having a loving home to call his own. Thanks to Goran for rescuing him and making his remarkable recovery possible - he looks a completely different dog now, absolutely brilliant 💕

As you know Goran feeds the strays in his local town and surrounding area. There are many dogs relying on him feeding them, Goran will travel round his town and surrounding area where dogs are known to congregate, get abandoned and feed them. This can be puppies, pregnant females to senior dogs - they all rely on regular food donations to keep them going, as scavenging for scraps is not ideal or guaranteed.

We appreciate there have been alot of appeals this month with veterinary costs and travel expenses- but two super lucky girls are off to a new life thanks to your help!!

Marley is now settling in foster care❤🐾🐕

These photos were taken whilst under rehabilitation at Goran strays rescue shelter, after being rescued from the streets, where he had been living life as a stray. When Goran rescued him he had severe sickness and diarrhoea and needed to see the vet. He was prescribed supplements and probiotics to help settle his stomach and stop the bleeding.
After receiving good nutrition, veterinary care and lots of love, Marley was well enough for the vet to test him for different diseases such as brucella, he had a 4d test, before being vaccinated and receiving parasitic treatment. Then finally being neutered and getting his passport ready to start the next step in the journey to finding his forever home.

Marley has landed on all paws with his new foster mum Evelyn in Germany, he even has a new doggy companion to run around and play with. This friendly young boy is now available for adoption and will stay in foster with his new foster family until a forever home is found, we will keep you updated on his progress.

Remarkable recovery - meet Loni ❤🐾
(Video is upsetting to start - with happy ending)

A dog was seen with a tight cord around its neck, she was extremely nervous and no-one could get close to her. After feeding her a few times, building up her trust - Goran was able to rescue her. He could see that the cord was so tight, it had started to grow into the skin and was infected, so he took her straight to the vets.
The vet examined the dog and due to the severity of the wound, the cord had to be surgically removed. During the procedure the cord that had embedded itself into the neck was removed, the pus and infected dead skin was removed and the area was thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
Following daily treatment, regular vet checks, plenty of antibiotics and pain relief, the infection and tissue healed - this resulted in a full recovery!! What a journey this beautiful little girl has been on, who knows how long that cord had been growing into her neck, blocking the airway, causing infection - the severe pain and sufferings he must have gone through is unimaginable - thank goodness Goran managed to rescue her when he did ❤

National Rescue Dog Day - May 20th 🐾🐕❤
Each year, rescue shelters worldwide take care of millions of dogs that are looking for a new home. National Rescue Dog Day is here to celebrate the beautiful friendship that rescue dogs have to offer!

History of National Rescue Dog Day;
National Rescue Dog Day was founded by Lisa Wiehebrink, in 2018. Wiehebrink is an author of children’s books as well as director of the non-profit organisation, Tails that Teach. The purpose of establishing the day was to bring awareness and attention to the amazing job that rescue shelters are doing to help find forever homes for dogs that deserve a second chance - big shout out and thanks to Goran and family for all they do helping so many strays - rescue, rehabilitate and rehome!! 🙂

Cecil is responding to treatment and is doing really well. He is definitely approving of his new creature comforts and when its cold in the mornings, he prefers to stay indoors than venture outside in the cold - and who can blame him after what he has gone through 😉

He still has a long journey to go, but is already showing so much improvement, is more comfortable and this is wonderful to see! All this is thanks to Goran, Marija and family for their love and dedication to his treatment plan and to all Goran's strays wonderful supporters - without your ongoing support, this would not have been possible - thank-you! ❤

Dolly is recovering well.. 🐾❤

This friendly fluffy girl has settled into life at Goran's home, you can she feels happy and content - she is calmer, more settled and fitted into a home environment with no concerns.
Her spay wound is healing, you would never know she had recently had a procedure done. Dolly is now ready to find her forever home - whoever adopts this friendly, loving, beautiful young girl is going to be a very lucky person! 😊

🐾 DOLLY UPDATE 🐾

Dolly went to the vets yesterday and was successfully spayed, she has been prescribed pain relief and is recovering well. This friendly fluffy young girl is now at home with Goran and his family, getting plenty of TLC whilst she recovers.

Thanks to everyone for raising enough funds for her to have the procedure done, ensuring she is now a step closer to finding her happy ever after ❤️

Dolly has seen the vet, she is healthy and ready to be spayed, this is great news as she will then be a step further towards being ready for adoption. Finding a forever home for all the dogs is the ideal outcome, where they will be loved and cared for in a home environment, never having to worry about scavenging on the streets again 🙂

The spay (neutering) will cost 166 euros - this needs to be raised by Monday 22nd April as she has her veterinary appointment booked.

🐾🐕 NEW DOG CECIL UPDATE 🐕🐾

This brave boy has a chronic skin condition, with open weeping wounds, alopecia, dry hard flaky skin - his limbs and joints have inflammation and limited mobility causing pain and discomfort every time he tried to walk. Alongside medications, the vet prescribed medicated baths - these shampoos are formulated to remove scaly skin, degrease the skin and kill any micro-organisms living in infected areas that could be causing secondary dermatitis - whilst bringing the dog soothing relief and promoting healing.

Cecil was so good, he allowed Goran to shampoo all areas, allow time for it to soak in and treat, then rinse the product away. He is still in discomfort, despite being on strong pain relief due to the chronic poor condition he was found in - yet there was no struggling, he allowed Goran to treat him, he must be so relieved that someone has actually shown him love and is finally helping him.
Cecil still has a long journey ahead, he is so lucky he was found as his little body would not have been able to take much more.

🐾🐕 NEW DOG UPDATE 🐕🐾

This brave boy had a very long vet visit. He has a chronic skin condition, skin scrapes have been sent off to confirm demodex strain, this will ensure correct antibiotics are given.
The vet gave him a full health check, he has an historic pelvic injury, likely from being hit by a car - his limbs and joints have inflammation and limited mobility causing pain and discomfort every time he tried to walk. The vet also carried out a 4d snap test and he was positive for anaplasmosa which is a bacterial tickborne disease - this can essily be treated, he was negative for all other diseases which is good news. Due to his poor condition the vet carried out extensive blood tests to check the function of his liver, kidneys, blood count etc and thankfully they have all come back as normal. He does have a high temperature which was to be expected due to infection throughout his skin, inflammation and anaplasmosis.

He is so quiet, tolerant and gentle - when having his treatment, he just allowed the vet to manipulate, scrape, take blood etc with no fuss at all - it was as if his little body didnt have the strength, its just as if he knew this is his chance at recovery and finally someone was helping him. He is lucky he was found and was able to start treatment, despite being discarded, left to suffer and die a long and painful death on the streets - how many people must have simply walked past him and ignored his visible suffering 😢

His treatment plan - antibiotics, pain relief, medicated baths (three times a week), eye drops, preventative parasitic treatment and good nutrition. This will start treating the anaplasmosis, skin infection, reducing the inflammation and bringing some relief from the severe pain he must be in. Once the skin scrape results are in, the antibiotics may be altered accordingly. The historic injuries cannot be treated as they have healed.

🐾❤ International World Stray Day April 4th 2024 ❤🐾

World Stray Animal Day on 4 April - over 200 million dogs and even more cats roam the streets as strays globally, according to estimates by the World Health Organisation (WHO). A cat births up to 19 kittens a year, a dog up to 24 puppies, increasing issues of overpopulation and suffering.

Every animal regardless of their species, breed or country of residence deserve to live a life with the 'The Five Freedoms'. They are recognised internationally and consist of; freedom from hunger and thirst (nutrition); freedom from discomfort (physical environment); freedom from pain, injury or disease (health); freedom to express normal behaviour (behavioural interactions); freedom from fear and distress (mental state/wellbeing).

Animals have no voice. They can't ask for help. They can't ask for freedom. They can't ask for protection. Humanity - we must be their voice..

Dax and his sister at the boarding, he is eating well and having his medication. He is ready for the next stage in his treatment, these two lovely dogs are very friendly and seem to be very close.. 🐾🐕 ABANDONED DOG UPDATE 🐕🐾 The blood tests confirmed piroplasmosa, this is positive news as it is much easier to treat than lepto with a much higher success rate! This disease generally occurs very quickly and requires urgent diagnosis and treatment which he is receiving - the medication is being administered three times a day for it to be effective - Goran must also drive back and fore the boarding to administer the medication. 🐾❤ GREAT NEWS ❤🐾 Who remembers the young pup found collapsed at the side of the road? He is only a young dog and had a visible large open wound on his side that needed to be cleaned and stitched to prevent further infection. He was also vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms. After receiving ongoing pain relief and antibiotics to treat infection and prevent further deterioration, he spent time with Goran who cared for him. 🐾 🐕ABANDONED DOGS NEED HELP 🐕🐾 Two young female dogs have been abandoned in a hazardous area, they are located next to a busy main road on a junction - this area is also known for its wild animals, there are many jackals in the area who tend to prey on vulnerable dogs, as these dogs are not 'street wise'. The dogs are both friendly, the one is more nervous - she has short fur and is visibly emaciated, her skeletal frame is visible, photos and videos don't do it justice. These dogs are at risk due to their trusting nature, lack of experience on the streets, alongside the hazards in the area where they have been dumped, combined with the lack of food, shelter and care.. The shelter is full of dogs being rehabilitated, we could house them short-term but there is no room for them to stay for months. We are looking for someone to provide them with a loving home, whether its a foster home or permanent forever home. Goran could save them, he could get them vet checked, get them ready for rehoming - but they need to have somewhere planned to go. Do you have space for one or two medium sized female dogs? Life of a stray on the streets.. 🐾 Goran drives round the streets with a car stocked with food, looking for strays in need of help. This lovely black & white dog couldn't wait to tuck into his food! It's just a shame that they never know when the next meal will be, that they have to eat off a dirty floor or scrabble through bins and rubbish for scraps of food, that they have no shelter, no love, no humans to look after them.. Just grabbing an ounce of 'normal', a bite to eat when they can - trying to stay safe on the streets, avoiding being caught, abused or worse.. The day we rescued Elsa..

Elsa was a stray on the street that we used to feed, in the beginning she was shy, nervous of us and then she started to trust us. Elsa would get SO excited when she saw us coming to feed her and try to follow us, this is when we knew we had to save her - it was breaking our hearts to leave her there.
