Natalie Greer recently took the video of what appears to be a very sick puppy at Sunshine Puppies in Pinellas County, FL. Sunshine Puppies is one of the puppy-mill-sourced retail stores the SPCA Tampa Bay partners with alongside Pinnacle Pet, a puppy mill broker and transporter of puppies to retail stores across the country.Sunshine Puppies is one of the six puppy-mill-sourced retail stores the Pinellas County BOCC grandfathered into an ordinance a couple of years ago that allows the businesses to continue selling sick puppies to the public.Since last October (2023) the public has been fed a load of lies by the SPCA Tampa Bay about their partnership with Sunshine Puppies and Pinnacle Pet, including that the partnership would improve the business practices of said retail stores selling puppy-mill-sourced puppies. 🤥If there is one sick dog at this store, you can be sure that all of those puppies are in danger. And the public? How about the public’s safety, Pinellas County? Families bring their children into a store where employees know they are selling unhealthy puppies. Those families walk out and take whatever bacteria are on their shoes and clothing into their cars, homes, and restaurants potentially endangering the lives of other pets and people. 🤢FACT ✅: Some 450 communities across the country have banned the sale of puppies in pet stores.FACT ✅: More than 80 local governments in the Sunshine State have passed ordinances banning the retail sale of puppies and kittens in pet stores.FACT ✅: New York, Oregon, California, Washington, Colorado, Maine, Maryland, and Illinois have passed laws banning or restricting the sale of pets in retail stores.
