I promised I would use this page more, so here's a quick couple of tips on longreining. More videos will be coming your way 🥰

Kirsty and Dakota getting back to business too! No gently gently with this pair, straight into leg changes on the first lesson, see what they remembered from last year! Not to shabby at all! 🥰
Half found third gear this morning , moving forwards happily without stressing . Who would have thought a couple weeks ago this was the horse that was scared to move with anyone on him?
Join up... A much used aide in so called natural horsemanship... Except I don't believe chasing a horse round a pen until it gives up and begs u to stop is true join up...
Join up to me is when the horse wants to be with u and follows you willingly, because they're happy to be with u and have trust in you ❤️
Betty working on her canter transitions today 😊
Gip being an absolute diamond. Roll on Sunday! We're having a show at the yard and Aimee is going to be riding this little guy for me ❤️
Betty tackling the four leaf clover exercise! She's getting awfully clever! Longreining has really helped her balance which in turn is making improvements within her ridden work.
Rebacking a young horse described as "lightly backed" last year, which could mean she's been ridden away, or maybe even just leant over, either way, best to start from scratch after a year off and not actually knowing what work was done.
This little lady was quite on her toes during some of the groundwork phases (lunging and longreining) but she did start to settle as she began to trust that I wasn't going to hurt her.
The start of the video shows the moment she said thankyou, for being gentle and reassuring her til she calmed down. I had been working at the mounting block leaning over etc a few times and I'd had one brief sit astride her, and after it, rstehr than lead her away and back round to the block, I had just walked away, allowing her to make the decision whether to choose freedom, or whether to stay with me. She chose to stay, I kept walking away and changing direction but she kept choosing to stay, and happily walked back to the mounting block, testing her head softly against me as u see, and standing so quietly to allow me to mount for a second time. This is real "join up". A horse choosing to stay with u because they trust you, not because you've chased them round a little pen for half an hour. ❤️
Short video from Betty's first session today x
Nothing like a wee gallop to blow away the cobwebs ❤️ my golden child
Dinah doing TREC for the first time! Clever pony!
Dinahs first attempt at riding some TREC obstacles 😊
Little Dinah today having a wee pop x
Fantastic morning with my wee friend Joey. He's a bsja pony who is one of these that does the job but it's not always pretty... He tends to get unbalanced especially on the right rein, doesn't bend and can get disunited in canter quite often found a course. Here he is jumping round quietly on the correct lead consistently, managing a flying change between the last two fences and listening to me when I had to ask him for a bit of a long one at the last.
For being the hot blooded one of my herd, he never does cope well with the heat!
Please, for those who still have rugs on their horses, consider how the temperature goes up during the day. Mine have all been naked for a good wee while now!
Little Dinah today after having a week off because I've been poorly x
A massive breakthrough this evening with my boy Cody ! He hasn't jumped anything more than a tiny cross pole for years after having a massive loss in his confidence, but tonight he was feeling good and this somehow happened! 85cms may not seem much for most people, but for Cody, it was amazing. He really does love life here at Crosbie!
He hates human contact. Except chin scratches 🤣 #shortangrymansyndrome #gipsyvillemilkybarkid
