What to do if you have leftover or unused antibiotics:
Return them to your vet practice for safe disposal o Inappropriate disposal of unused antibiotics could contribute to antimicrobial resistance and pollute the environment through waterways, affecting our wildlife o Don’t ever give your pet, or any pet for which they haven’t been prescribed, left-over or out of date antibiotics. Using antibiotics when not needed could risk side effects, delay an accurate diagnosis for your pet, mean that your pets condition may not be treatable, and contributes to antimicrobial resistance Our practice is taking part in the antibiotic amnesty this November. Clients can return any unused or out of date antibiotics to us for safe disposal.

What is Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)?
Antibiotic resistance occurs when bacteria develop defences that protect them from antibiotic medications, making treatment less effective Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is an increasing problem worldwide, affecting both human and animal health. Antibiotics are essential when treating many conditions in animals and people, but bacteria are becoming resistant to many antibiotics that we rely on in human and veterinary medicine. Our practice is taking part in the antibiotic amnesty this November. Clients can return any unused or out of date antibiotics to us for safe disposal.

Our practice is taking part in the 2023 Antibiotic Amnesty. Throughout November 2023 we are asking pet owners to return any unused or leftover antibiotic medications to us for safe disposal. Please drop off any unused medications to us at the practice. You can hand them in to a vet, nurse or the reception team. This medication might be left-over from a recent prescription, antibiotics that you didn’t need or out-of-date medication. Let’s keep antibiotics working, together!

It's getting cold out and you've decided to crank up the central heating. But little do you know, you've just unleashed a potential flea invasion in your cosy home. 🏠😱
Heat from your heating system provides the ideal environment for those sneaky flea eggs to hatch. And that's not all! Vibrations caused by passing pets or even people can act as a wake-up call for these pesky critters. Talk about a perfect storm for flea infestations!

We've got some tips to help you outsmart these cunning parasites. ❌🔒
1️⃣ Regularly vacuum your carpets, furniture, and pet bedding to remove any potential flea hideouts.
2️⃣ Keep your furry pals protected with vet-recommended flea preventatives (included in Pet Health Club)
3️⃣ If you suspect a flea invasion, consult professionals for effective treatment options. Don't let them take over your cozy abode!
💪 Remember, prevention is key to keeping these unwanted guests at bay.

Antimicrobial Resistance and the environment
The environment is at risk if antibiotics aren’t disposed of properly. If antibiotics are disposed of inappropriately e.g. via household waste, this can contribute to antimicrobial resistance in the environment o Always return unused or out of date antibiotics to your vet for safe disposal o Antimicrobial resistance is one of the biggest global health issues of our time. We must act, together. Our practice is taking part in the antibiotic amnesty this November. Clients can return any unused or out of date antibiotics to us for safe disposal.
