Scout sighed. "The football isn't coming home."

Noodles felt frustrated by this, he'd been practising the song and everything. So had Bean who liked to have his radio on in the kitchen.

"No" said Foggy. Where was the football now? And why was there only one? Lots of analysis everywhere but nobody was answering the important questions.

Digger didn't really understand what they were saying. As far as he was aware the football hadn't left the garden.

"They should have pushed the ball to the goal" said Chief wisely. He knew all about football, he played daily.

Ralph thought hard. "I think they couldn't because it was a bit far to kick it? Not everyone has long legs."

Lola admired *her* long legs. Nobody matched her speed and she was super model beautiful with her figure. Alfie ruffled his hair with a paw. He too was super model beautiful!

Woody did not care too much for football, but he did like the idea of going to the pub to watch it. Those special drinks were awesome! Finn agreed. Bring on the special drinks!! 😁

Tilly did not need special drinks to feel giddy. That was her normal setting!

Milo, no longer in his cone of shame and ready for a quick game of something, thought maybe the Bark Buddies gang could bring football home since everyone else had failed. Bitsy lived near a shop - there was probably one for sale in town!!

In other news:

Bitsy, Scout and Twiglet headed up the daycare this week whilst Chief, Digger, Alfie, Chase, and Molly joined us for walks

Bailey and Finn moved in for a bit

Teddy couldn't take his eyes off the large dog behind the fence. Is it a Dalmatian he wonders..?

As for Edie, she was the one keeping us in line! The small ones are always the loudest!

Twiglet has turned one!! And she did it in style!

We have been busy looking after chicks and cats this week. Lots of our dogs have brothers, sisters and neighbours who aren't dogs but still want to be Bark Buddies. And who are we to deny them!

(Except for barn cat Pudding. She just wants to be fed)

This week, before we started melting, we got into the spirit of the Euro's and played football, went for walks which were not sweaty, and went for an off lead run at the field!

Martyn stared in horror at the number flashing up.

Priscilla, using her best telephone voice, was calling Martyn Mechanic. "The Land Rover is broken again" She explained. "It just stopped"

"What did you do to it?" Asked Martyn

Ty was not answering that. Hopefully the gravy bones he'd stashed somewhere secret were not causing problems. Digger was not answering it either. He loved to escape the farm now and again and had tried to drive Uncle Glenn's car last week. Seeing over the dash had been a problem and he'd abandoned plans until Oban was around to help not crash into things, but he wasn't sure whether he'd managed to successfully avoid that tree or not...

"The thing is, we want to go to the field" Tilly explained. "So if you could just fix it..?"

Martyn rolled up his sleeves. Who was he to deny the pups their runaround?!

* * * * *

With time to kill, the pups headed to Morrisons. Dexter thought there might be a scooter for sale. Or a skateboard. Or anything with wheels, really. Just as a sort of backup plan.

Chief was happier to walk, so headed straight to the hot chicken section.

Finn wanted Mini Cheddars. He could share those with Bailey.

Arnie figured they could always use more beef slices so off he trotted.

And Milo headed to the cakes, buying a dozen of each.

With the shopping done and coming to a total of £475 because... Cost of living, the gang wandered over to the bus stop.

"The next bus to Apperley is in 6 days time" Said Chase. "At 12 O'clock. Possibly. Unless the driver takes the day off"

"6 days?" Repeated Tilly

"Because we live in the middle of nowhere"

Rafi sat down wondering if anyone had thought to bring a tent. "Should we have a doughnut then?"

Milo looked at the empty packets surrounding him. Feeling quite sick, he realised he'd eaten quite a lot.

"How about a Mini Cheddar instead?" He offered!

Nobody likes to think about what happens if a dog is injured when out with the dog walker, but it's our job to have plans in place.

Because we are a two person team, we have various plans ready to implement depending on where we are, how close we are to the car, how many other dogs are with us, the size of the injured dog, and what has actually happened. All plans work around one of us being able to focus on the hurt dog, and one of us looking after the others.

We feel we are safer than most because we can work together.

Fingers crossed we never have to put emergency plans into place but if we do, we know what we need to do to get to the vet as quickly as possible.

Speaking of vets... If you can't remember whether you've signed a vet release form giving us permission to use your vet in an emergency, or you've changed vets since you joined us, do let us know 🐶🐾

There is much anticipation in the Bark Buddies household.

Nick the plumber is coming. The pups have heard Uncle Glenn talk about fixing 'drips'.

Chorizo does not know what the drips are.

Baby Bailey hasn't noticed any either.

Nick the plumber visited once before to mend some stuff and Scout knows he drives a big van.

Lola does not have a big van, but could do with one to fit her legs.

Ralph has only little legs, yet they are still very speedy! Bean only runs for treats. "Have you tried competing with labradors for treats?!" He asks Foxy

"I heard that!" Barks Milo. "I share!"

(He does, but Bean often gets extra for them by letting Milo take two at a time 😉)

Zero and Dexter took a treat break this week too and posed for the camera. A bromance is growing between them.

Chase also posed for a picture - What a beautiful smile!

Ted has a happy grin on him whenever we visit. He loves seeing Uncle Glenn's Land Rover pull up! New friends visit him every time!

Chase held out his paw. "My mum says I should make friends so I would like to join the family!" His tail wagged in excitement. He'd heard about Bark Buddies. Isis had barked from across the street once that he should absolutely come out to join them!

Boss Bailey shook his paw. "Walking together is the best way for dogs to make friends!"

Most of the group nodded in agreement. So much chaos could be caused in an hour!

Foxy the terrier loves walking. So many different sniffs to be enjoyed around neighbouring farms. His brother Ted..? Well he is less keen unless it's a gentle meander on offer. What he really loves best is relaxing in the garden.

Noodles loves walking too. But only at the back of the pack and on the left. Anywhere else just doesn't cut it.

Bean likes dive bombing into hedges which he feels *should* be part of every walk. It makes him chuckle when his Auntie Vicki ends up following him in. Foxy likes hedges too.... That is where the mice are!

"I caught a mouse last week!" Yapped Twiglet. "Great fun! Except what do you do with a mouse once you have it?"

Ty couldn't answer. If he was getting dinner it would be steak. Anything less left him sooooo hungry.

Max, from the sofa, opened his eyes. "Did somebody say steak?"

Foggy looked on, feeling hopeful. Steak was awesome.

Charlie sighed. Was it 6pm yet? A walk home away from this crazy lot was *his* favourite type of walk!

After we fixed the car (or phoned someone who could!) we went for a walk, had some cuddles, and posed for some photos.

We walked loads on Wednesday but did not take photos as we were wearing water wings and did not feel smiley 😭😂 Had we though, Bean would have been best dressed in his raincoat 🐤🐤

The pups have no idea how to fix cars but that wasn't going to stop them trying!

Luckily local mechanic Martyn stepped in to get us up and running again!

"Did you see the lights in the sky?" Asked Priscilla

"The sun?" Questioned Oban. He'd seen the sun, it had finally started to shine. Ralph had seen it too but that meant the threat of his summer body not being ready so was pretending not to have noticed.

"The Northern lights" corrected Rafi. He had seen them from his garden, they had lit up the sky in lots of different colours.

"I liked the purple ones!" Barked Milo.

"I looked" said Ty. "But I couldn't see anything"

"I went to bed and missed everything" confessed Isis.

"There are lights?" Bella tilted her head to see.

Chief and Digger pulled out their mobile phones and showed off colourful shots of purple and green which they'd taken during a late night stroll. Mistaking this for a photo opportunity, Woody immediately sat to pose followed by the rest of the gang. Phones meant team photos and team photos *always* meant treats!

The Bark Buddies gang, whenever treats are on offer, feel they are bikini ready just as they are! Model material, even 😁

This week we have either been enjoying sunshine, teaching Woody not to chase every bird in sight, (😭) chilling on the sofa, (Can you spot Max?!) or chomping on new Lumabone toys which all the dogs seem to love!

The fans are on full at Bark Buddies HQ too, so whilst the rest of you are in your summer gear and loving the sun, Vicki is still very much cuddling a hot water bottle and complaining she might get frostbite from the cool air. 🤣😱🤣

Baby Bailey peered at the little alien. "What is it?"

Tilly knew this, being a Spaniel she was an expert. "It's a baby bird. You must leave it here incase mum comes back"
Maggie looked at the garden full of dogs and then across to next door's cat who often stared at the Bark Buddies HQ with a look of distaste, and didn't like the little sparrow's chances of surviving the morning.

"Can you pups be trusted not to eat it?" Asked Boss Bailey

Tilly considered the question. She probably could because it didn't come with batter and egg fried rice. But she didn't fancy its chances with the terriers.

Rafi had just enjoyed his dentastick so wasn't hungry.

"Lola and I will sit with Jack" Scout offered. "Zero will pop round to Twiglet and see if she can drive us to Vale Wildlife Hospital"

"Jack?" Asked Dexter

"Because he is a sparrow" explained Scout.

Dexter looked blank. Jack looked like a baby emu to him, but he agreed it probably wasn't the safest idea to leave him where he was, regardless.

Twiglet was home and fancied a go at driving the Land Rover. "I do think I could be quite good at driving" she said popping her harness and lead on. (Which Zero did not question because Twiglet was not a Yorkie to be messed with.)

So that is how Jack ended up being cared for by Vale.

Dear Instagram and Facebook.

Some of the training groups say to give Spaniels a job so we are focused and engaged and not bored. They say we are clever and benefit from learning and working with our mums and dads.

So I have decided to become daycare manager. This means I get to be in charge... to do bossy things.

We will do loads of walking so we can eat more treats and everyone is allowed to bark, counter surf, rip the toys up, and swipe the pens off the table... All things I want to do but rarely get to now my humans are wising up to my ways. This place will become FUN! Tilly Turbo will be my manic side-kick for when I want to rest.

Traditional training will be something we still have to do, at least until the point mum and dad give up.

And I will still take pictures. Posed of course so the rest of Facebook thinks we are well behaved. See how pretty our photos are..?

Oh how we fool them all... 😂😂

The second week of the school holidays have flown by! We discovered Benji likes to bark his way through how to train your dragon, everyone loves a crunchy carrot if Woody is chomping on one, and that Alfie really should be an Instagram model with that smile!

When one of our favourite sprockers joined us last year he used to make me (Vicki) cry with his determined pulling. Solo walks were painful on the shoulders and group walks were impossible. It wasn't necessarily his fault though as so many dogs become overstimulated in new settings or around new dogs and really struggle to behave, particularly if they are young. (Or spaniels 🤣) Many of the dogs new to us have never enjoyed so much social interaction and as a result take time to settle even if they do have brilliant lead skills. Which frustratingly for so many owners, lots of dogs don't 🤣 Do you find yourself dragged from one sniff to the next?! Or putting off walks because they hurt?! If you have a pulling or excitable dog, walks or daycare with us can help chill them out a bit as social interactions become a normal part of life 🙂 We're not qualified trainers and don't claim to be, but the benefit of hiring us over a trainer, even if it's for a weekly walk or half a day's daycare, is that we teach (over time) manners, social skills, lead skills, and working as a group as part of the care. This leads to slowing and calming down your bouncy pooch. You can see 'B' hasn't lost his personality and is still loving being out on a walk, but do you see how well he is doing?! That's what we want for all of the bark buddies dogs 🙂🐶 Daycare - £24 Half day (4 hours) - £14 Group walks - £10
