Post op recovery following Cruciate Surgery.
Izzy showing off in the treadmill, after a small break from Hydro to start a course of laser due to a acute arthritic flare…..
💥The results speak for themselves💥
Tia enjoying her Hydrotherapy treatment for arthritis.
She appeared upstairs a few weeks back, she hasn’t done this for 2 years 😳.
Go Tia 🥰
May enjoying her early morning treadmill session today.
💥8 weeks post cruciate surgery
💥Nearly 13 years “young”
💥Working alongside Transition Veterinary Physiotherapy & Highfields Vets to provide the best rehabilitation for this lovely girl.
How did you start your Friday morning?
Candy was eagerly running in this morning as the first laser patient of the day……
Let me tell you a little bit about Candy and why she came to us…..
⭐️ She has Osteoarthritis in multiple joints
⭐️ She can’t tolerate NSAID (anti inflammatory medication) due to other health issues
⭐️She was reluctant to go on walks
⭐️”IF” she went for a walk she would often sit down
⭐️Has monthly librella injections, however the last week would often see a decline in her mobility.
⭐️We tried Hydrotherapy but found she was getting little, if any benefit.
We decided to start Laser treatment with candy, initially starting with 6 sessions for a loading dose over 2 weeks then once a week treatments.
💥Session 1-the dog Walker messaged the owner to say she had a 🚀 up her bottom!
💥Session 5 & she was due her Librella injection, yet she hadn’t had the usual decline.
💥Following her Librella and Laser treatment combo she chased a pheasant!!!
💥She initiates play at home
💥She’s often now going on walks with the owner and less sitting.
Working alongside Blenheim Veterinary Centre we have a much happier pet & owner 🐶.

Long post alert.....
Meet Martha 😍
She’s one of our own hydro pooches and in some serious need of Hydrotherapy at the moment! She’s had some ongoing hindlimb lameness but she plays very hard with her daughter Dora out in the field so we’ve been trying to limit their playing! She was spayed 4 weeks ago so had less exercise whilst she recovered but this meant she dropped hindlimb muscle whilst on house arrest! A trip to the vets for a review and a visit to one of our physiotherapists confirmed that both her cruciate ligaments are giving her a bit of bother!! Left hind worse than Right hind. She’s having Hydrotherapy twice a week to try and build some some good muscle mass this is so that if the cruciates do fully rupture she is in the best position going into her rehab journey. If they don’t fully rupture but she has a small tear she will need good muscle mass to support the stifle (knee) and try to minimise any movement between the thigh bone and shin bone as this is what she will find uncomfortable and thus causes her to not want to weight bare which which lead her to drop muscle so the joint becomes lax and she’ll be more susceptible to injury!
(And breathe.......I hope you’re keeping up 🙃)
Our underwater treadmill is a GREAT diagnostic tool due to its 4 glass sides it allows us to see Martha’s gait pattern from 4 sides and at a speed that we dictate!
✴️ The water offers buoyancy so she is not putting all of her weight through her joints which she will find difficult on land
✴️ The water also offers a resistance so she will build muscle much quicker on the treadmill than she would on land
✴️The heat of the water (32degrees) helps with any muscular soreness and encourages blood flow
✴️The resistance highlights any problem areas so we’re able to diagnose any areas of weakness
The video of Martha is just from 1 angle but I can see so much!!
✴️Her tail is held to her RHS thus trying to off load more weight off her left hind limb
✴️She bilaterally crabs - s
