Doogle is helping me demonstrate the correct combing technique. Rather than dragging a comb through at 90 degrees to the skin (which only skims the surface), turn the comb so that it sits flat against the skin and pull outwards. Then move along to the next patch and methodically cover the whole dog. When you find a tangle, hold the skin taught and work at small sections of the knot with the end of your comb, in a seesaw motion. I'd also advise using a conditioning spray such as Canter Mane & Tail on trouble spots such as where a harness or collar would sit. Also remember not to rub the dogs dry with a towel as this will create knots. Instead, squeeze the legs with the towel.
This is how professional blow dryers (blasters) speed through a wet dog and remove the loose hair
Easter Egg hunt for my two!
A short video showing how effective professional grooming equipment can be. This long haired German Shepherd was full of dense undercoat that wasn't letting the skin breathe. The power of my hydrobath jets the shampoo straight through that hair to the skin to ensure a deep clean of the whole dog. Then the high velocity blaster not only dries the dog, but unclogs the hair and lifts it away from the skin. The loose undercoat then comes free, without any risk of hurting the skin from over brushing (brush burn). I then finish with a thorough brush and rake to remove the more stubborn undercoat. Sometimes the professional equipment just beats any shop bought brush hands down!
This little dude is Toby, a Patterdale x Dachshund. This is what he does when I pick up his lead! What a little wriggler!!
7 dogs groomed today at one location. Forgot a photo of one of them though (Mojo)! Freddie, Mozzie, Cruella, Pete, Wolfie and Bongo....
