Everyone at Willow is sad to hear of the passing of David Middleton, one of our valued fosterers, who helped us look after the dogs in our care whilst we were operating. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.

Lots of rescue dogs are needing homes at the moment. Please adopt don’t shop. Even though we’re no longer operating as a rescue, please check your local rescues or even charities like these if you’re looking for rehome a dog.

Sadly, not all our dogs make it through training. Very occasionally we need to find a new, loving home for one of our dogs due to the development of a long-term health condition that prevents them from completing the programme.

We are looking for special people who are able to provide a permanent home to our dogs that have specific medical needs. You would need to be able to ensure the dog receives the required care needed and would have full support of our dog training team.

If you are interested in adopting one of our lovely dogs who sadly cannot finish their training, then please get in touch to find out more. You can email [email protected] or call 0114 261 800

Would you like to volunteer to look after one of our wonderful adult dogs?

We are in need of volunteers to care for the well-being of some of our adult dogs for a specific period of time. After completing puppy school, some of our recruits need a little longer to settle in before starting their full-time training programme, which is where you come in! If you live in and around Sheffield, are at home all day, and can offer a loving, safe and fun environment for our dogs then please get in touch today.

***Announcement***

Sadly, Willow Dog Rescue is closing.

Since our first dog rescue back in 2010, we have dedicated the last 12 years to saving strays from the local pounds. We are extremely proud of our achievements, and have loved every dog that's passed through our doors, it's been a privilege to have been a part of their journey, to have loved and cared for them, and to see them happy in their new homes.

But we could not have done it without the support of the fab kennel staff at BARC, our wonderful charity shop volunteers, our fosterers, our fundraisers, and anyone that has supported us in any way over the years. We would especially like to thank everyone who has adopted one (or more!) of our Willow dogs - for choosing to rescue and giving these precious dogs a second chance of a forever home. We are so grateful to you all for loving our dogs like we do.

We would also like to thank our families who have supported our passion for rescue - this has often meant foster dogs in our homes destroying things, cancelled plans due to rescue commitments, all pulling together and chipping in to see that a dogs needs are met... we couldn't have done it without your help.

We will look back with pride at what Willow has accomplished over the years - run by four of us around fulltime jobs and family commitments. Its been a rollercoaster of emotions, we have laughed and cried, seen the worst of things but also the best happy endings. We have wonderful memories which we will cherish forever, we have made friends for life, and wouldn't change a second of it. Although we are sad that it is the end of an era for us, we will remember every dog (and cat!) and remind ourselves that we did our bit.

Please continue to support your local dog rescue charities. Royston Animal Welfare will be taking over our charity shop soon, it would be great if you all could remember them when you are having a clear out and donate so generously as you did to us. It is a tough time in the rescue world at the moment, so many dogs need saving, please now lend your support to other animal charities the way you have supported us. We can all still help.

Thank you.
Julie, Sarah, Karlie and Nicola.

We just wanted to let all our supporters know that we have been able to help out another rescue in need.

And that's thanks to you all who have bought something from our shop or donated in any way.

Thank you ❤️

We would like to thank everyone that kindly donated to our Vets bill appeal. We simply couldn’t have managed without the support of our friends, community, as well as our valued supporters, and we are humbled by your kindness.

Every donation makes a difference.
Every share makes a difference.

We would like to offer a very special thank you to our new friends at Willow Dog Rescue for giving us a jaw dropping moment, with their £2,000 donation to our vets. Trust me, we could have cried at the feeling of relief and appreciation from such a generous donation. So thank you, from all of us here, to all of you at WDR.

To all of our community, you are so incredibly important to the work that we do here.

Our vets bill has now been settled and it has taken a huge weight off of our shoulders, so that we can now focus on further requirements of the rescue and the dogs.

We hope that you all have the most magical and sunny weekend ahead!

Put doggy safe suncream on your Pooches, if needed!

All our love,
The Pupcakes team

Our lovely little Miles is still looking for his forever home. Could that be you?

🐾 Miles is ready to find his forever home! 🐾

6 year old JR cross Miles has had his vaccinations and is now on the lookout for his forever family to find him.

Miles would like a home as an only pet where he can have all the attention. He is an inquisitive, busy, happy little man who knows some commands.
Miles isn't necessarily a typical lap dog, but he will make someone a fantastic little companion!

🐕 Do you have a Miles sized space on your sofa? If you are interested in giving Miles a home, please fill in the Adoption Form on the Dogs Needing Homes page of our website 🐕

🐾 Welcoming Pixie back to Willow 🐾

We rehomed Pixie a couple of years ago, but unfortunately her owner is no longer in a position to keep her (no negative comments please).

Pixie is between 3 and 4 years old and is a super sweet, loving girl. However, she isn't for the faint hearted - she is a energetic bundle of fun with tonnes of energy!

Pixie is great with people and other dogs, although she needs a strong, confident owner to teach her some doggy manners as she can be a bit too full on for some dogs. But she has a lovely temperament, and as much as she loves to play, she also loves to climb on your lap for cuddles.

Pixie is used to having someone around most of the day, although can be left for a couple of hours. We think she would like to live with another confident dog as she lived with one previously in her foster home and with her last owner. But we do think Pixie would settle into the right home as an only dog, providing she receives the stimulation she needs to meet her energy levels.

We are looking for someone/a family who would be willing to put some time into her training and enforcing the right rules and boundaries so she can reach her potential and be the cracking dog we know she can be.

⭐ Please fill in and submit the Adoption Form on the Dogs Needing Homes page of our website if you are interested in giving our Pixie a home ⭐

🎉 Little Eddie has been adopted! 🎉

We had a message from the pound just before New Year asking if we could take a terrified little chihuahua who was in a pitiful state, literally wouldn't be touched and had to be handled with gloves on....of course it was a yes, we went through to pick him up and he went straight into a foster home.

Little Eddie has to be the most terrified, nervous, broken dog we have seen for a very long time. You couldn't even look at him, speak to him, or be in the same room as him without him running away. Eddie broke our hearts, and we were so worried that he wouldn't ever be able to trust humans or be happy/comfortable around them - and we also knew Eddie would need a very specific home with an experienced, patient and very understanding owner.....

Luckily, we knew of a lady who was looking for a little dog, and would be perfect for Eddie. So, after several weeks in his foster home learning all about life, and building up his confidence and trust, Eddie had made fantastic progress so he headed off to his new home with Louise.

Eddie settled in straight away! He fell in love with his new mummy as quickly as she did him, a match made in heaven from day 1! We are so proud of Eddie, for him to overcome the terror he felt around people is truly amazing. Louise is doing a marvelous job with him and he already has his paws well and truly under the table!

Whatever happened to Eddie in his past for him to be in such a state doesn't bare thinking about, but its onwards and upwards for him now.

💙 Happy Adoption Day, little man! We are sooo happy for you! 💙

⭐ Introducing Miles ⭐

This happy little Jack Russell cross is 6 year old Miles, who came to us from the pound last week.
Miles is a lively little man with lots of energy and is very interested in exploring everything!
We aren't sure exactly the type of home Miles needs yet as he is still settling in and undergoing his assessment and vaccinations. But keep an eye out for further updates on our new arrival and the kind of forever home he is looking for.

🐾 Welcome to Willow, Miles! 🐾

🥳 Happy New Year to all of our lovely followers! 🥳

***Rehoming News***

Our lovely collie boy Max has been adopted! He is enjoying camping trips, dog walks with all his new furry friends, and has his own seat at the local pub! He really has landed on his paws with his new family. What a happy ending for this fabulous boy!

Our beautiful boy Rodney left the building a few days ago to start his foster period, he is being a good boy and showing his family what a super dog he is... keep it up Rodders!

AJ has also left us to start his foster period with his new mum and dad, things are going really well, he is being a very good boy and he settled in right away. Keep being good AJ!

Last but not least, our little bundle of fun Frank is also on his foster period, him and his new doggy sister are getting along like a house on fire and he is showing his new family what a fabulous little man he is with lots of cuddles and Frank kisses!

🎉 What a lovely start to the New Year for our fantastic Willow dogs! We would like to thank everyone for your continued support again this year, we couldn't do what we do for these wonderful dogs without you behind us. Heres to 2022 and all the lovely dogs that will come our way! 🎉

Our lovely boy Tommy is still waiting patiently for his new family.
Tommy isn't bothered by the other dogs in rescue, he would love an active family with older/Teenage children, he is very food orientated which makes training him easier.
He sucks on his bedding so was probably taken away from mum too soon.
If you can dedicate the time to Tommy and give him the home he so deserves please fill in the form on our website and submit it to us.

For anyone interested in foster caring. This local charity is needing volunteer puppy socialisers. It’s a tough job but very rewarding. Visit their website for details of what the role entails and how to apply.

Our charity is actively looking for volunteer puppy socialisers. We are looking for volunteers to provide a loving home and help us prepare our puppies over their first 14 months of life before they begin full time training as life-changing support dog.

You can find out more at https://www.supportdogs.org.uk/puppy-socialiser

Living in and around South Yorkshire or North Derbyshire, as a puppy socialiser you will play a vital role in our puppies' formative years, caring for a puppy in your home and providing them with the socialisation and training they will need. This is a unique opportunity to not only care for a lovely dog but also to make a significant contribution in changing the lives of people affected by autism, epilepsy and disability.

We will also consider puppy socialiser who already have an existing and happy pet dog of their own.
