Hello lovely Larkhall customers. Elisa has put all our wonderful wild bird feeders and treat ideas in the window for you to peruse. It is fab to help our feathered friends this time of year and fun to watch them, too. A little story for you: I used to love watching all the wild birds at our old house - goldfinches, blue t**s, long-tailed t**s, great t**s, dunnocks, robins and wrens and a pair of blackbirds and even a family of great spotted woodpeckers. We had occasional starling visitors, a green woodpecker, a bullfinch, song thrush, magpies and a jay - even a sparrowhawk ๐ฌ I became quite the twitcher! Last year we moved to a new house and tiny, bare, brand new garden. I've planted two small trees and have put up a bird feeding station, some nest boxes, a water feature, 2 bird baths and bird friendly plants in the hope of enticing some wild birds in. Watch this space for more news! All ideas welcome. We did get lots of bees and butterflies in the summer ๐๐๐ฆ๐ฆโโฌ๐ฆ
Canโt believe these boys are still looking for their furever homeโฆ.
Benny and Brownie are 1 1/2 year old boar companions. As you can see from Bennyโs โfroโ he will need regular grooming. The boys are used to being outside in a shed but would equally adjust to indoor living.
Hello lovely customers! Please see the article below from British Independent Retailers Association - Bira regarding a special "Love Your High Street" campaign this year. Maybe you could pop into your favourite indie this week and make a small purchase?
"THIS November, we are paying special attention to our local communities; from high streets to out of town shopping centres. Itโs here that we can find a host of different independent retailers selling everything from every-day necessities to one-off gems.
Yes, we may be able to find what they are selling online but what will we miss out on if we shop solely on digital platforms?
Unique products
Delightful displays
Product expertise
Warming customer service
Gift inspiration
Connecting with others
A reason to dress up warm and get outside
A little exercise and a tasty lunch maybe?
And of course some magic festive spirit!
The list really is endless. Some may be more obvious than others, but they all add up to something significant for you, the community you live in and the economy.
Why is it important to shop locally?
These businesses are the lifeblood of our communities, they create jobs and instil a unique character into our towns and cities. They help bring us back to a more supportive way of living โ where neighbours support neighbours.
Shopping locally promotes a sense of belonging and connection among residents, and can also reduce the carbon footprint associated with long-distance supply chains.
Independent retailers often offer distinctive, handcrafted, and locally-sourced products that enrich our lives with authenticity and diversity.
The week-long celebration
So, here is a new reason to celebrate your indies! The "Love Your High Street" campaign. A week dedicated to shopping with independent retailers, designed to rejuvenate and promote local businesses.

WHEN: Monday 13th November 2023 โ Sunday 19th November 2023

It is noisy season! Here is some really helpful advice from Dorwest Herbs for helping with Bonfire Night and your pets. Remember we sell Dorwest calming products in our store as well as Pet Remedy diffusers and more. Just pop in and ask for help.
"When it comes around to bonfire night, there is no certain time frame when fireworks will be set off, however they can alleviate this as much as possible. So with a few days to go until Bonfire Night, let's talk about things you can do on the day to keep your dog safe.
The first thing you want to do is make sure your dog is walked earlier in the day, even well before it starts to get towards sunset. Remember that sometimes fireworks can start going off even before it's dark so it's always better to walk your dog as early as possible.
Once it does get dark, get your dog inside and try to avoid bathroom breaks. Also it is recommended to keep your blinds and curtains closed to really minimise any noise or flashes of light from outside.
It can also be helpful to play calming music or leave your TV running to also help drown out the noise.
If your dog does become stressed out by the fireworks remember that it's perfectly OK to comfort them.
You can introduce the Scullcap & Valerian Tablets to support with your dog's anxiety, but another go-to for many is the Valerian Compound which can be used as a top-up.
This is really, really helpful if your dog is actively experiencing stress or if you need an extra boost. It's really useful to give this to your dog on the day.
Remember to create a den or safe space for your dog to go to if necessary during displays. This could be a crate, or space under a table. Enjoy Bonfire Night with your pets in a warm, safe environment. "
