Busy day in the yard but always a delight to have the muck heap emptied!

All the horses ridden today - could with just a quick burst of rain though, a sand / rubber school gets really dusty & deep when it’s this dry!

Yard blown & swept, school edges manually brought in & graded! Lovely cool evening for jobs!

(Excuse rotten / broken fencing - landlord not tenant responsibility!)

To the person who stole Harrison’s scooter at David Broome Event Centre yesterday, you might want to pop by my lorry & steal the charger too! I’m told they are tricky to find!!

If you ‘accidentally’ find it in your lorry when u unpack - please contact me!

It’s easily identifiable, as the lights & kick stand have been removed. It also has a bright blue phone holder on the handlebars!

Recommendations for someone to fit & connect up a washing machine & dishwasher in a Horsebox locker. (Locker is made for them, though may need a support brace welded underneath locker to support additional weight)
Ideally to be completed on-site in rural Billingshurst.

Harrison had a horrific fall at Coombelands Equestrian on Thursday. He rode a lovely round on paddy until the last jump when Paddy and H decided to take a flyer but on different strides. (Below 4 sequential photos of how it ended)

Initially, we thought the damage was superficial to his face but unfortunately a CT revealed that he has 2 very small mid-spine vertebrate fractures. As they are stable & small the consultant doesn’t want to interfere with them.

However, what we initially thought were just cuts inside his mouth from him biting his lip & tongue turned out to be his lower face being detached inside. His jaw & nerves were exposed and they had stitch the entire span of his jaw line & has a drain coming out of his chin.

Hopefully his drain will come out this morning and we can go home to start the long recovery.

Paddy has some superficial sand burn on his chest & is generally sore. We have the vet & physio booked to give him a good check over.

Harrison KEP hat has done exactly was it was meant to do! It took all the impact of the fall and saved his head! The consultants can’t believe that he hasn’t got any broken bones in his face!

Bearing in mind this hot weather - please keep your arms fully covered - if Harrison hadn’t taken off his jacket he wouldn’t also have horrific sand burn on his arms!

A big thank you to everyone who helped / offered help / asked after Harrison - we are truly grateful! (If you ever need me - please just ask!)

(Thanks to LRG Photography for the photos, which were a great help to the doctors)

The days & weeks are just flying by!

Lovely to be competing in glorious weather at the FEI last week at Wellington Riding School. Sadly, no frillies but both boys, Paddy & Bill enjoyed their mini-break!

The humans - Georgie, Carl, Harrison & I - managed to get some scrabble, tack cleaning, cycling & eating into our break too!

The highlight was on Friday, when I (Nikki) skulked off to Guildford for my HGV driving test - Passed with only 1 minor!

Changeable weather at David Broome Event Centre for the FEI 1*! Drove in but needed a tow to get out!

Great result for both boys & Harrison in the Grand Prix. It was a nail biting jump off!

H & Bill were in first place & Paddy in 2nd place for the majority of the class but the second to last jump off rider pipped them off the top spot by only 0.12 of a second!!!!!

Both boys were looking super cute in their Butet tack & Kentucky rugs, numnahs & fly fringes & Veredus Grand Slam tendon & fetlock boots.

It’s Sunday night and my 12th load of laundry is going through the washing machine - time for a round up of our stay away show at Onley!

Great results - top 10 finishes for both Paddy & Bill in pretty much every class they entered.

Bill & Harrison were 5th in the Grand Prix!

Harrison & Paddy had their first go at a ‘6 bar challenge’ and came 4th with his final height being 155cms. (I would upload the video but there are too many *beeps* for editing)

Oh and we ‘accidentally’ bought a new Horsebox while we were there too……..

Great end to our showjumping year 2022!
Bill went to his first show of the year after surgery in May & a slow and thorough rehab! Happily he’s back to full fitness!

Harrison cautiously rode a gentle, long routed DC for a 5th in the Novice!

Paddy had a pole in the Foxhunter but Harrison had much more control & rhythm for a lovely flowing round to finish 11th in his section.

An exciting 2023 is ahead of us with our great team of Paddy, Bill and our up & coming youngster, Rocky!

Lovely schooling session for Paddy & Bill at Hascombe Farm Equestrian Centre this morning!
Paddy enjoyed his ‘stretch’ over some pretty good sized jumps!
Bill jumped his first course (90/100) having come back into work after a bout of injury - he was loving being out doing his job!

A bit of a delayed post - Chepstow International last week then quick turnaround for return to school!

Paddy was a superstar being piloted around the FEI CSI 1* Silver tour by Harrison. Some very, very - scarily / vomit inducingly - large tracks!

Sadly not in the placings but some really strong rounds & only 0.3s outside the placings/£ on day 2!

(Trying to explain to Carl how a 125 can be a very large 125 - his argument to me is ‘it’s either 125 or it’s not! Hmmmmmm!)

It’s a busy week!

Lovely outing for Paddy & Bear to Hascombe Farm Equestrian Centre for the first time - what a stunning venue!

Had a really great schooling session & both boys are going beautifully.

Saddle checks & ?new saddle for the boys - thanks for dropping by while you are at Hickstead Sederholm!

Mass tack cleaning session/s - all home & show tack! Feels good to have all our ‘ducks in a row’!

(Paddy below being amazing)

The end of a busy week and an even busier week to come for ‘Team Button’!

Trying to balance school Royal Alexandra and Albert School with our equine commitments - Paddy, Bear, Bill & Rocky, social & non-horse activities (go karting) and just a little social for me (Nikki) - is quite a challenge at times yet we still - just about - manage it!

Last week we took Paddy out to Felbridge for a couple of rounds & Hickstead too! Their partnership is getting stronger with each event & Harrison is becoming more the pilot & less the passenger! Paddy was looking stunning after a ‘spa day’ with super groom & chief child tamer Georgie Griffin- Smith freelance instructor & rider

Due to the monumental gap between classes, we were able to pop round the shops and visit our favourite brands Sederholm, Fabbri Boots & Just Equine Ltd.

Good day for Harrison & the boys at sunny Coombelands today!
Paddy was 3rd in the Discovery & in the money. (H won’t let me take a rosette picture of him, so our mascot Squiggy is doing the honours)
Harrison rode Bear far more forward & had a great round - shame he had a couple of poles.
Paddy was on again in the Newcomers, where they were DC & 11th.
