The World Of Fish And Pets is a family-run exotic pet shop owned by Brendan, Suzanne, and our animal-loving son Kyle. We started out in a tiny shop back in 2004, but have since moved to a larger shop in 2011. We take pride in breeding a lot of the animals in our shop, and we are dedicated to sharing our honest advice and wealth of knowledge to ensure animals are kept in the best possible way. We’v

e had years of experience keeping different animal species, which makes us confident in providing trustworthy advice to our customers. Our animals in store range from Reptiles, Amphibians, Invertebrates, Fish and Aquatics, as well as a large selection of live foods, dry goods, vivarium set ups, decor, and live plants. We have everything you need whether you're new to exotic pets or an experienced veteran! When you step inside our shop, you’ll be transported far away from gloomy Birmingham and into by a jungle-themed environment complete with live plants, feature vivariums, and even a cave! Here you'll find our Reptile and exotics side, and next to this is our dedicated Coldwater and Tropical Fish room. Many people are surprised to know we even have a crocodile in the shop we have raised since a baby! If you can’t find what you’re looking for in-store or online, don’t hesitate to ask us, we have a wide range of suppliers, as well as sourcing ourselves from European shows we regularly attend. What sets us apart is our complete dedication to ensure all our animals that we sell and care for are thriving and as happy as they can be. We caught this guy snapping up his dinner!
Did you know a Chameleons tongue can extend twice the length of its body?! It launches out at 0-60mph in 1/100th of a second too, making them a very unique creature in all of the animal kingdom.

This is a Blue Bar Ambilobe Panther Chameleon which we have available at the shop currently! Jaw dropping colours on this which will only get better as adults!

What does their name mean?

-LOCALE: This identifies the colour variation by where it originates. Either a town or island. (Ambilobe)

-SPECIES: Indicates a physical difference of species or sub species in distinct populations. (Panther Chameleon)

-PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: A visual attribute of the chameleon. (Blue bar - bars are saddle like patterns across the side of the animal)

Today we are showcasing one of our favourite reptiles available in the shop right now, the Blue Tongue Skink 👅

This is currently a baby, and has a lot of growing left to do yet! He is a Merauke, native to the tropical rainforests of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.

Blue tongues are omnivorous meaning they eat both meat and plants/fruit, so need quite a varied diet.

They are generally a very hardy reptile, with vibrant personalities that can become very friendly reptiles with the right care and patience!

Living to around 20 years, in our opinion they are one of the most rewarding and unique reptiles to own out of everything we have kept here at the shop 😁

These lovely blue bar ambilobe Panther Chameleons need new homes!! 🏡
We have a few available at the moment, male and female.

They have stunning colours once they get older, as seen in the last photo. A really pretty reptile 🤩

A close up look at the mother of our baby Axolotls!
An axolotls signature characteristic is the long feathery gills coming from its head. This is how they get oxygen from the water and are able to live underwater!

They also have regenerative abilities, being able to regrow limbs and organs makes them a very unique species with scientists still researching how exactly they can do this. How fascinating 🧐

This first axolotl is the mother to all our babies that we breed ourselves in the shop, we have lots of babies ready to go now in different colours. Leucistic, golden and wild brown.

We had a lovely little surprise this morning to check on our leopard gecko eggs, they have hatched!! 🐣

These babies are very fast when first hatched, not sure what morphs they will be just yet. Their parents were tangerines!

Will post some updates as they grow and follow how they get on 🥰

Lovely bright green colours on this Pacman Horned Frog that came in this week! Pacmans have been one of the most popular pets this year, as they are such a funny & unique species to own, popular with younger children and families!

They are named Pacman frog after their round and large mouth reminiscent of the video game character Pacman!

We have full set ups in store if you’re new to keeping a frog, quite an easy to keep pet, like to eat a lot 🐸

⚠️ NEW Tarantulas in stock ⚠️ 🕷️

We have some quite agressive tarantulas in this week, but very stunning 🤩

First up is the Singapore Blue, this is an Arboreal Species, needs high humidity. One of the most beautiful tarantulas as they mature, with males showing off their metallic blue legs! This is a juvenile.

Then we have the Featherleg Baboon. This one was quite a challenge getting into its new enclosure 😬 Very feisty! This is also an arboreal, temperament is very defensive and will bite if disturbed… just check out the fangs on it ⚠️

A closer look at the new Wandering Violin praying mantis that came in yesterday! (Gongylus gongylodes)

What a unique looking insect! 👽

Its body is long and thin, with larger appendages to look like a stick and dried leaves. A master at camouflage! The name comes from their tall slender body resembling a violin 🎻

They originate from India and Sri Lanka, and females can expect to grow to around 4-4.5 inches, whilst males around 3 inches.

Very interesting mantis for insect lovers out there 😁

Introducing the Dragons Lair!! 🌵 🏜️ Our renovation and redesign of the cave enclosure is finally ready!

We have made a bioactive desert environment which will house some lovely bearded dragon morphs!

Beardies are one of our most popular reptiles in the shop, family friendly and loved by all, so it seemed perfect to show them off in a more unique enclosure!

We have real plants and rocks throughout the enclosure, as well as beardie life, a natural substrate. 🌵 🪨 So far they have been loving it, and even having a climb around on the rocks 😁

So if you’re looking for something to do in summer pop down and see our new enclosure, let us know what you think too! 👋

Ever wondered how frogs sleep? Here’s one of the Red Eyed Tree Frogs having a little nap on a leaf 😴 Then once he’s awake again his vibrant red eyes return!

We also have some lovely azureus dart frogs in too, this pair seem very active always out and about 🐸

Peaceful Betta/Crescent Betta (Betta imbellis) now in stock!! We haven’t had these in before, what makes these different is they can live together as groups, hence the name their attitudes are much more peaceful 😌

Some beautiful colours available in gold, black and reds! Few available of each colour, but don’t expect these to be around for long so be quick!!

Its all hands on deck to get it done, as you can see 😆 Not quite ready yet, but hopefully in the next couple of weeks!

We have stunning Dart Frogs in at the moment.

-Azureus dart frog

-Yellow and black Bumblebee dart frogs

We have everything to set up a bioactive enclosure for these frogs, which they will do best in with a live environment 🌱

Eating great at the moment with fruit flys!

Loads of beautiful coloured bearded dragons in this week, some really nice morphs that we don’t see very often 😍

The perfect family reptile, great for beginners, we have 4ft set ups ready to go with all the equipment needed to get started!

We can install all your electrical equipment too in store for you when buying a setup, so you can just plug in and you’re all set up with no fuss.

These are just babies at the moment, but are one of the most fun reptiles to raise and watch grow, they have big appetites and will go through lots of livefood 😁

We have a lovely Nosy Faly female panther chameleon in currently!! Some stunning colours on her, and she is very active and curious 😍

We also have blue bar ambilobe chamelons available, both male and female.

Have you ever heard of Isopods? These little creatures were around when dinosaurs roamed and are now great for bioactive setups, or even as a unique pet! 🦕

Most people use them in bioactive setups, in addition to springtails, to help clean up the environment, eating any detritus and other waste.

However they are also very popular now for keeping as pets, where you can collect all the different types of species! There are over 10,000 identified species and these creatures are over 300 million years old, dating back to the Carboniferous period!!

It is quite addictive looking at all the different species and colours of isopod there is to get, and lots to learn about and become fascinated with for someone getting into these!

In the shop the species we have are red panda, cappuccino, clowns, dairy cows and blue angels!

Super simple bioactive setups to keep these in if just for pets, e have everything needed in the shop to get started with a little isopod home 🏠

JUMPING SPIDERS! 🕷️ Meet your new favourite pet that you would never expect. These little spiders are completely different to your usual spider/tarantula which most people find scary!

WHAT ARE THEY?: 🤨
Known for their cute looking faces thanks to their FOUR pair of eyes!! Their big eyes and eyelashes make them look very characterful and adorable 👁️
There are over 6000 species of jumping spiders making them the largest family of all spiders!

DO THEY JUMP? 😳
Now for their name, do they jump? Yes jumping spiders are very capable jumpers, they make very targeted and accurate jumps. This is mostly to escape danger, or catch prey.

CAN I HOLD THEM? 🤲
They are known to be very friendly spiders, with some handling being okay, this makes them a great spider for kids and families to keep to, and they are a delight to watch feed and eat!

OUR OWN BRED BABY SPIDERS: 👶
At the shop we have kept jumping spiders for many years now, and all our jumpers are our own babies that we have bred 😁 They require a very simple, inexpensive setup, of which we sell everything needed to get started with one.

We have a Sand Boa new in this week! Very unique looking snake, this is a kenyan one, and is a dwarf boa species.

They have very tiny eyes with vertical pupils, which gives them a almost cartoon character appearance!
