😬😬😬 I'm not good at posting on here, apologies!!!
Anyway, meet Nelly..... This little lady is booked in for a course of treatment and so far I have seen her twice. During treatment I get lots of kisses and looks of approval!!! Nelly really zones on on treatments, she relaxes well throughout and reaps the benefits. Though we are not working on specific injury or post op, there are so many other benefits she gets from the sessions! (have a nosy at the lists on my page for these)..... Full treatment of approved clinical canine massage, full fascial release and stretch.... ***Just to add, Nellys mum and dad own a groomers, day care and boarding kennels, very tentative and knowledgeable set up!! Check out 4 Pets Sake Dog Grooming

I can not stress this enough!!! This weekend DO NOT WALK YOUR BULLDOGS OR CHOWS OR PUGS OR ANY DOG infact... they can live not walking but they will die in a split second walking out in that heat....... be sure to have lemon juice and follow the advice I put on here next....

What to do it your dog over heats....👇👇

If your bulldog/dogs are overheating it is imperative that you act quickly. Initially stand them in a bath of cool water NOT COLD!!!! and pour water especially around their neck, you need to cool the blood going to the brain as in severe cases of overheating there is a risk of brain damage from hot blood going to the brain. (Don't turn the hose pipe on them, it may panic them and make them worse & and the first lot of water sat in the hose could be boiling hot water!!) Extreme cold water can send them in to shock, so make sure it's just cool water.

Place ice under their tail (just inside their bottom if you can), keep pouring cool water over them and keep calm, if you panic your dog will panic.
Your dog will go very pale as the circulation system struggles to cope.

Try get them in the bath & Keep going with the water - don't take them out of the bath until the breathing has calmed down, talk calmly to your dog - you will be soaked, your bathroom will be soaked, but you will save their life!!!!!!!!!

Once the breathing is calmer, remove them from the bath but don't dry them, they will still be very pale (inside mouth, gums and inner eyes).

Let them wander but don't make a fuss of them, your fussing may make them anxious and it could start over again. Still don't force them to drink, but make up a rehydration mix ( oralade Gi or Hydrate + for example you can buy this from amazon) and place it in a bowl for them to drink from if they wants to.

Always have a bottle of lemon juice to hand, carry one in your bag on days out as this will be a life saver and cut the phlem from the back of the throat which is what stops the foaming during heat stroke and helps them breath. Sq**rt it into the side of the mouth not straight down as you can end up with your dog aspirating.

Remember now the sun is coming be double weary of your squishy faces, lots of water bowls down, walk in the cool mornings or the cooler evenings if the heat is hot on you it's 10 x that on your dog, the path is burning your feet it's burning their feet.

-This post states ‘cool’ water not COLD water - cold water can put the dog into shock so make sure it’s cool water you are using.

-Yes lemon juice in high amounts can be toxic but a wee 30ml of it will probably not even give them an upset tummy, I would far rather risk that than watch my dog suffocate to death.

- A cool wet towel under the armpits can also help.

IT WILL NOT KILL YOUR DOG NOT HAVING A WALK, BUT YOU COULD KILL THEM BY WALKING THEM.
PLEASE KEEP THEM IN AND COOL.☺️

So this evening, I've received some really sad news that a dog I went to see not long ago has sadly passed away.... I'm still currently grieving about my own boy who I lost not so long ago.... But if anything can give you comfort..... Just think about what our amazing animals teach us and how they live their short lives, it really is just perfect ...... Sending love to you ###

Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.
Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:
• When your loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
• Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
• Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.
• Take naps.
• Stretch before rising.
• Run, romp, and play daily.
• Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
• Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
• On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
• On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
• When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
• Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
• Be faithful.
• Never pretend to be something you’re not.
• If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
• When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.
That's the secret of happiness that we can learn from a good dog.

Breaks and Fractures
A traumatic event or impact is the primary cause for a broken bone, however certain diseases including cancer can be a cause.

Symptoms include:
Pain – especially when moving
Swelling
Deformity at the area of injury
Reluctance to weight bearing
Resistance to touch
Bruising
Massage can only take place once the healing process has taken place.

Massage will:
Reduce swelling and inflammation and give relief from pain
Increase the healing process and strengthens the injured limb
Helps relieve areas of overcompensation
Can reduce scar tissue
Increase mobility and flexibility
Improve Gait and posture
Helps reduce stress

With each treatment, we can hopefully complete full Myofascial Release....
First we need to understand Fascia and what is Fascia.
Fascia is a connective tissue that is around each and every muscle, bone, nerve, artery, vein and organ. It’s like a 3D networking reaching throughout the body and holding everything in place. It is very strong and mobile and in a normal healthy state moves without restrictions.

When fascia becomes tightened to the skin, this increases nerve & pain sensitivity. Skin should slide and glide smoothly with the superficial layer of fascia. When Myofascial restriction & pain are present, this slide & glide is reduced and inhibited.

Myofascial pain in dogs can happen anywhere in the body, although one of the most common areas is the Thorax, and it requires direct bodywork to help relieve it or resolve it.

Reasons for Myofascial Pain
Secondary to Osteoarthritis
Activities of daily living (jumping on / off furniture)
Anything repetitive e.g. High energy ball chasing
‘Body Slamming’ by other dogs
Dehydration or dogs that don’t drink much water
Trigger points (knots) cause Myofascial Pain
Working / Sporting Dogs
Impact / Trauma
Natural conformation e.g. Hound types are very prone to Myofascial issues
Convalescence
Old age

Symptoms:
Fascia is entirely continuous a restriction in one part will affect other areas

Skin twitching or flinching
Restricted movement in gait or postural in-balance i.e. limping/lameness
Grimace or have a ‘tickle spot’ around the middle of the back
Excessively rolling on their backs
Tenderness to touch
Tight skin
Restricted range of motion
Sore back legs
Hair flicking up where it hasn’t before
A nervous or anxious character
A dog that is reluctant to be handled
Pain that persists or worsens over time
If left untreated, can progressively worsen causing unrelenting pain & discomfort i.e. postural issues, mood & Behaviour changes.

Benefits:
Massage that encompasses Myofascial release, which is a slow, gentle stretch, can produce significant and profound changes in your dog.

Breaks down the pain-spasm-pain cycle
Loosens and lengthens the constricting fascia
Breaks down scar tissue and adhesions between the skin, muscles and bones
Correcting muscle imbalance
Relieves muscle stiffness and joint soreness – improving comfort levels
Relieves sore & painful Trigger Points (knots) in both muscle and fascia
Increases mobility & flexibility
Reduces pain
Reduces anxiety levels
Helping to ease tension and tone, this in turn can relieve pain arising from physical and emotional trauma by helping the fascia to soften, re-hydrate and thus restore elasticity and decrease compression around other structures in your dog’s body.
