SG Veterinary Physiotherapy

SG Veterinary Physiotherapy Veterinary Physiotherapy and Canine Hydrotherapy My name is Sarah Guffogg and I am the lead therapist working at SG Veterinary Physiotherapy.

I graduated from Writtle University College with an integrated masters degree in veterinary physiotherapy. I am also qualified as a equinology equine body worker and caninology canine body worker. Following completion of my degree I completed further training in canine hydrotherapy. I have also completed a level 3 qualification as a nutritionist which I have added to my pet services. Most recently

I have completed training to allow me to carry out ultrasound scanning for canine pregnancy. I am fully insured to work as a veterinary physiotherapist and hydrotherapist. I am registered with IAAT- International Association of Animal Therapists and RAMP- register of animal musculoskeletal practitioners. Many insurance companies will cover veterinary physiotherapy and canine hydrotherapy treatment and I am happy to assist you with this. I am based in Darwen, Lancashire at my purpose built canine rehabilitation centre. We are always prepared for any pet's needs and ensure that your pet will receive the best care and love. Their happiness and care is our priority and we strive to provide a service we would want our own pets to receive. I am a keen horsewoman and have been riding from a young age, I enjoy participating and watching a range of disciplines. At home I have a working cocker spaniel who is regularly out and about keeping me busy.

Relocating!!!

On Jan 3rd we will be relocating and opening our new clinic in Darwen, Lancashire. This has been a long process over the last 18 months and we are almost ready to welcome you.
The new clinic has a much larger treatment room, more client seating and we now have amenities available for owners.
We are now going to have a separate hydrotherapy and exercise room which is almost complete but we need a little longer for the finishing touches. We are changing to having an underwater treadmill, this will allow us to see a wider range of clients and be able to adjust gait patterns more easily.
We are excited for our current customers to see the new venue and to welcome some new faces.

Now open 9am-12pm on a Saturday for Physiotherapy.

Physiotherapy assesses the animal as a whole.
Following assessment, a treatment plan will be devised for your animal using several techniques for example, massage, stretching, electrotherapies and potentially hydrotherapy. The goals of the treatment plan will vary dependent on the assessment.
All animals can benefit from physiotherapy. Most animals have some degree of muscle imbalance which can be targeted and improved. Like humans, animals also carry tension in their muscles which can be released, promoting relaxation and improving mood.
Get in touch to book your appointment or with any questions.

Hydrotherapy and fun swim sessions are available on a Monday and Wednesday (late night)

Our Story

Physiotherapy assesses the animal as a whole looking at them statically, dynamically and through touch. The range of motion of joints and feel of the tissues are investigated. Following assessment, a treatment plan will be devised using several techniques for example, massage, stretching, electrotherapies and potentially hydrotherapy.

The goals of the treatment plan will vary dependent on the assessment. Some common conditions treated with physiotherapy include:

  • Pre and post-operative rehabilitation

  • Musculoskeletal injury
