This cheeky chap is Jammy Dodger, and he’s living his best life being adored by his humans at the sanctuary. This big, strong boy came to us as a teeny tiny piglet who had been found lost and confused next to a rail track, and we think he may well have rolled off a meat train. This is one Jammy Dodger of a pig you could say… he literally rolled into a future so different from the one he was destined for.Jammy is one of the characters you can sponsor at Hopefield (link in comments) and we think these packs make the perfect Xmas gifts for the animal lovers in your life. Do buy yours asap though as we want to make sure we catch Santa’s sleigh in time for Xmas delivery! 🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻
Because we shared such exciting news this morning, it’s only fitting that we share it again…We are so thrilled to announce the incredible Zayn Malik as our newest ambassador. Zayn is a passionate advocate for animal welfare, this is a cause incredibly close to his heart. Zayn said “Hopefield Animal Sanctuary provides a safe place for abandoned and mistreated animals. They educate the local & afar communities on animal welfare and I’m honoured to be partnering with them to spread their message and save animals in need.” Our animals thank him so much for joining our sanctuary and helping animals in need. Please make him feel welcome in the comments ❤️ Hopefield Animal Sanctuary sits on 53 acres of beautiful countryside in the heart of Brentwood, Essex. The sanctuary currently cares for over 500 sick, unwanted and mistreated animals. Their mission is to help animals in need and provide education and awareness for humane behaviour towards all animals around the world. Their rescue animals live out their lives at Hopefield in peace, surrounded by love and receiving the best care. For more information and to find out ways to support the animals at Hopefield Animal Sanctuary, please visithttps://hopefield.org.uk/ #zaynmalik #hereathopefield #animalwelfare #animaladvocate
While these cheeky characters are fascinating to watch and off-the-scale adorable, it’s also important to keep in mind that exotic pets have complex needs and don’t generally do well in a domestic setting. This is why so many of them end up in sanctuaries. With thousands and thousands of dogs, cats, rabbits, etc., already desperate for loving homes, we would advise against taking on an animal that is not already considered a domestic pet.
Feel free to watch this cute fella on a loop though for your raccoon fix. 😍

Meet Tia and Diego
Meet Tia and Diego the marmosets, who we really hope are going to help mend Jimbo’s broken heart.
Their previous owner had been agonising over re-homing them for a while, and when he saw Jimbo’s plight he got in touch to see if we could give them a forever home with our lonely, lost little lad. They won’t ever be a replacement for Oleg and Herman, but these cheeky characters could well be the tonic Jimbo needs to bring him out of his grief. ❤️
They arrived at the weekend and at the moment they are being kept next to but not with Jimbo so that they can get used to one another ahead of a proper introduction as soon as we feel the time is right. We’ll keep you posted on their progress, and thank you again for all the love being sent our way. ❤️

Fireworks
EDIT 19.48pm - This has now been reported to the relevant authorities as, what looked like the same address, let off more large fireworks just now.
This is what we’re having to deal with at the sanctuary tonight as we speak. Pure selfishness from our neighbours in Rushdene Road, who know full well they have an animal sanctuary located next door to them.
Our poor animals are absolutely terrified, and tragically, two of our residents passed away suddenly and unexpectedly last night, from what we can only assume was a heart attack from being petrified of the constant explosions. We will need to contact their previous owners first before providing details.
Our managers are on site trying to comfort our animals, but with over 600 it’s not a small job and we’re devastated that people are still ignoring the law on setting off fireworks near livestock.
Simon says… have a great weekend, everyone! 🎃🎃🎃
We’ve been working hard all week to get our Halloween event ready, and we can’t wait to have you all down for the spooktacular shenanigans! 🎃🎃🎃
This is so important to us, and we’re not asking anyone to not enjoy fireworks, we’re just asking that you enjoy them at organised displays that comply with laws made to protect livestock. See comments for more.

Some people expect a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. Here at Hopefield? We got a Jammy Dodger, but given that he has a heart of pure gold, it’s kind of the same thing. 🌈🌈🌈
When Mildred and Simone arrived at their forever home with us at Hopefield, their hooves were terribly overgrown. Finding a ‘cow pedicure’ expert proved quite the task, but today Michael, from The Flying Farmer, drove four hours to sort out our elderly girls for us. We are so happy to see both Mildred and Simone moooooving around so much easier now!
When Bob was reunited with his family AND introduced to some new friends ❤️

Flockdown is over! 🦆🐔🦃
Flockdown is over! 🦆🐔🦃
After what feels like forever, our birds are finally allowed back outside again, where they can stretch their wings and enjoy their freedom 🥰
Avian flu restrictions were introduced back in November, which meant that we had to put measures in place to protect our residents from wild birds.
During the flockdown period, the wild frogs that reside at the sanctuary decided to make themselves at home, and the duck pond is now swarmed with tadpoles! We have put the ducks in a large chicken run with paddling pools until the tadpoles grow on 🐸
