In a quiet neighbourhood, nestled amidst the gentle rustle of trees and the soft murmur of a flowing stream, there lived a soulful Staffordshire Bull Terrier dog named Mitzi. Her story was one of resilience and redemption, a testament to the transformative power of love and compassion.

Mitzi's journey began in the shadows of cruelty and neglect. Rescued by Louise and her family at the tender age of two, Mitzi bore the scars of a past filled with pain and suffering. Yet, from the moment she stepped into their welcoming home, she knew she was safe. With each passing day, the darkness of her past faded into the distance, replaced by the warm embrace of love and kindness.

Louise, with her two young children Ellie and Thomas, became Mitzi's guardians and her guiding lights. Through patient understanding and unwavering devotion, they helped Mitzi heal the wounds of her past, teaching her that she was worthy of love and affection. Slowly but surely, Mitzi's trust blossomed like a delicate flower in the springtime, her wary gaze softened by the gentle touch of compassion.

As the years passed, Mitzi became an integral part of the family, her presence a source of boundless joy and unconditional love. She reveled in the simple pleasures of life, from playful romps in the backyard to lazy afternoons curled up at Louise's feet. Her playful spirit and infectious enthusiasm brought light and laughter to every corner of their home.

Mitzi's loyalty knew no bounds. She stood as a steadfast guardian, watching over Ellie and Thomas with a watchful eye and a loving heart. Through every triumph and every trial, Mitzi remained by their side, a silent sentinel of strength and support.

But as the seasons changed and time marched on, Mitzi's health began to falter. The spark that once danced in her eyes grew dim, her once agile frame slowed by the weight of age and illness. In the face of her declining health, Louise and her family made the agonizing decision to ease Mitzi's suffering, to bid farewell to their beloved companion with dignity and grace.

Surrounded by the love of her family, Mitzi slipped peacefully into eternal slumber, her weary body finally at rest. Though their hearts were heavy with sorrow, Louise and her family found solace in the knowledge that Mitzi's spirit would forever live on in their cherished memories, a beacon of love and light guiding them through the darkest of days.

And so, as the sun set on Mitzi's earthly journey, her legacy of love and compassion continued to shine brightly, a testament to the enduring power of a bond forged in kindness and nurtured with care. Run free, dear Mitzi, run free, and may your spirit soar among the stars for all eternity โค๏ธ๐ŸŒˆ

In a serene home nestled amidst rolling hills and lush greenery, there lived a noble creature named Kally. She was no mere canine, but an elegant 11-year-old Westie cross King Charles, her presence gracing the lives of Kylie and her husband, alongside their cherished children, since her earliest days as a playful puppy.

Kally shared a bond of profound depth with Kylie's husband. Their connection was one of silent understanding and unwavering companionship, a testament to the enduring power of love and loyalty between man and beast.

However, fate cast a shadow over their tranquil abode when Kally was afflicted with lymphoma. Since the chill of December had settled upon the land, her once vigorous spirit began to wane, her noble form succumbing to the cruel grip of illness.

In the face of this somber reality, Kylie and her family displayed a courage born of true nobility. With solemn resolve, they made the solemn decision to bid farewell to Kally within the hallowed halls of their home, surrounded by the dignified presence of their familial love.

On her final day, as the golden rays of sunlight danced upon her silken fur, Kally was bestowed with a final gesture of affection: a simple offering of cheese, her favoured indulgence. With grace and dignity, she accepted this token of love, her gaze reflecting the profound bond she shared with her devoted family.

As the twilight descended upon the tranquil abode, Kally's breath grew gentle and serene, her noble spirit slipping silently into the embrace of eternity. Enveloped by the tender embrace of her loved ones, she departed this world with the quiet dignity befitting a creature of her noble stature.

And so, in the hushed reverence of their home, Kally passed from this realm to the next, her spirit liberated to roam the boundless expanse of the heavens above. Though their hearts were heavy with grief, Kylie and her family found solace in the knowledge that their beloved companion now frolicked amongst the stars, her essence forever enshrined in the tapestry of their cherished memories.

As they gazed upon the radiant night sky, they whispered a solemn farewell to their beloved Kally, bidding her to run free in the realms beyond. And amidst the celestial symphony of the cosmos, her spirit soared, a luminous beacon of love and grace illuminating the heavens for all eternity. Run free, dear Kally, run free, and may your noble spirit endure forevermore โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ

Once upon a time, in the heart of South Africa, there was a gentle giant named Sana. Born in February 2015, she was a Mastiff of remarkable lineage, destined for greatness. Little did she know, her journey would take her far beyond her homeland.
In 2017, Sana's life took an unexpected turn when she embarked on a new adventure across the seas to the United Kingdom. There, she found herself under the care of Jenny, a dear friend of her family and a renowned Boerboel breeder. It was a fresh start for Sana, filled with the promise of new experiences and boundless love.
In October 2020, fate intervened once again as Sana found herself in the loving arms of David and Clare. Still reeling from the loss of their beloved dog Roo, they welcomed Sana into their home with open hearts, envisioning her as the newest addition to their family. Little did they know, Sana would soon become an integral part of their lives.
Tragedy struck the following May when Jenny passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a legacy of love and a void that seemed impossible to fill. Yet, amidst the grief, Sana remained a beacon of light for David, Clare and their children, Megan and Matthew. She was their constant companion, their loyal friend, and their source of joy in the darkest of times.
Sana's presence brought warmth and comfort to everyone she met. Whether it was greeting visitors with a wag of her tail or showering her family with endless affection, she had a way of making everyone feel special. Even Clare's parents, who lovingly cared for her in their absence, couldn't resist her charm.
But it was Sana's playful antics that truly endeared her to everyone she encountered. With a mischievous twinkle in her eye, she would often pretend to want a walk, only to collapse on her back in a fit of laughter, her legs kicking in the air at the mere thought of a rainy day adventure.
Despite her playful nature, Sana was also a force to be reckoned with in the world of Boerboel enthusiasts. Known affectionately as Lotter Sana, she had a string of trophies to her name, a testament to her strength, grace, and undeniable spirit. And though she had two litters of her own, her legacy extended far beyond her offspring, touching the lives of all who knew her.
As the years passed, Sana grew older, her once boundless energy slowly waning as her health began to decline. It was a difficult realization for David and Clare, who had grown to love her as their own. Yet, in the face of adversity, they remained by her side, cherishing every moment they had together.
And so, on a quiet afternoon in the comfort of her home, surrounded by those who loved her most, Sana peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge, her spirit soaring free as she bid farewell to a life well-lived.
Though her time on Earth had come to an end, Sana's memory lived on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. For she was more than just a dog; she was a guardian angel, a loyal companion, and a cherished member of the family. And though she may no longer walk beside them, her spirit would forever guide them on their journey, a shining beacon of love in a world filled with darkness โ™ฅ๏ธโ™ฅ๏ธโ™ฅ๏ธ

This beautiful little girl was Penny.
She was only 18months old.
Penny was no ordinary pup โ€“ she was a bright-eyed bundle of joy, full of energy and love. She shared her home with her dear friend Nellie, a graceful lurcher who was always by her side.
At just 18 months old, Penny's life took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer that affected her eye. Despite her young age, Penny began to struggle as the illness took its toll. But through it all, she remained the same lovely girl, her spirit shining bright even in the face of adversity.
Penny's mum and dad, Lucy and Jack, had welcomed her into their lives when she was just a tiny puppy. Though their time together was short, their love for Penny knew no bounds. Lucy, especially, devoted herself to caring for Penny, making sure she was comfortable and surrounded by love every step of the way.
As Penny's condition worsened, Lucy faced one of the toughest decisions a pet parent could ever make. With a heavy heart, she knew it was time to say goodbye. Determined to give Penny the peace and dignity she deserved, Lucy chose to let her go at home, surrounded by familiar comforts.
On Penny's final day, Lucy and Jack gathered around her, whispering words of love and comfort as they prepared to say their farewells. With gentle hands and tearful eyes, they opted for sedation, allowing Penny to drift off into a peaceful slumber.
As Penny closed her eyes for the last time, Lucy continued to stroke her fur, her voice a soothing presence in the room. And in that quiet moment, surrounded by love, Penny slipped away, her pain finally at an end.
But Penny's journey didn't end there. Waiting patiently at the doorstep of eternity was James from Rainbow Bridge Pet Cremations, ready to guide Penny on her final journey. With gentle care and compassion, he carried Penny away, knowing that she would be forever remembered as the gentle soul who brought so much love and joy into the world.
Though Penny may no longer be by their side, Lucy and Jack take comfort in knowing that her spirit will always be with them, a constant reminder of the boundless love they shared. And as they look back on their time together, they find solace in the memories of a sweet and gentle girl who touched their hearts in ways they never thought possible.โค๏ธ

In a picturesque neighbourhood nestled beneath the gentle sway of towering trees, there resided a spirited Cane Corso puppy named Caesar. Caesar was a handsome Cane Corso breed, with glossy fur as dark as midnight and eyes that sparkled with mischief. He was just over three months old, full of energy and curiosity, exploring the world around him with boundless enthusiasm.
Caesar's owners, Viktorija and Steve, adored their furry friend. They showered him with love, toys, and delicious treats, ensuring he was always happy and healthy. However, amidst their busy lives, they accidentally missed Caesar's second vaccination appointment. Worried about the welfare of their beloved pup, they promptly got in touch with me.
Upon receiving their call, I understood the urgency and importance of Caesar's health check and vaccination. His owners opted for a health check and vaccination at home instead of taking him to the veterinary clinic. After all, what could be better than giving Caesar his first vaccination in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by familiar scents and sounds?
As I arrived at Viktorija and Steve's doorstep, Caesar greeted me with wagging tail and excited barks. His joy was infectious, and I couldn't help but smile at his exuberance. With gentle hands and a soothing voice, I conducted Caesar's health check, ensuring he was in perfect shape despite missing his previous appointment.
Caesar, ever the brave pup, didn't flinch as I administered his first vaccination. Instead, he sat patiently, trusting me to keep him safe and healthy. Viktorija and Steve watched with pride and relief, grateful for my dedication to their furry family member.
After the appointment, as I bid farewell to Caesar and his owners, I couldn't help but feel a warm glow in my heart. It was moments like these โ€“ where I could make a difference in the lives of both pets and their owners โ€“ that reminded me why I became a vet in the first place.
From that day forward, Caesar continued to thrive, spreading joy and laughter wherever he went. And as for Viktorija, Steve, and myself, we shared a special bond forged through care, compassion, and a love for our furry friends.โ™ฅ๏ธ

In a quaint village nestled between rolling hills and lush greenery, there lived a majestic gentle giant named Roxy. She was a magnificent Dogue de Bordeaux Cross, with a heart as big as her size. Roxy was adored by her owner, Jenna and her sister, who cherished every moment spent with her loyal companion.
Roxy's days were filled with joy and adventure. She loved nothing more than bounding through fields, her ears flapping in the wind, and exploring the wonders of nature. Roxy had a special affinity for the sea, where she would eagerly chase waves and dig in the sand with unrestrained glee. But her adventures didn't stop there; Roxy was a true adventurer at heart. She even conquered the mighty Snowdon, her paws leaving prints on the snowy trails as she embraced the breathtaking views from the summit.
However, one fateful day, Roxy's playful spirit began to fade. She grew lethargic, her once voracious appetite diminished, and her movements became laboured. Concerned for her beloved pet, Jenna reached out to me, asking for help.
As I arrived at Jenna's doorstep, I could see the worry etched on her face. With a heavy heart, I gently examined Roxy, hoping to find a simple remedy for her ailments. But what I discovered shattered our hopes and dreams. Roxy had a large, cancerous tumour nestled in her abdomen, causing her immense pain and suffering. It was a devastating blow to Jenna, who had hoped for a different outcome.
In the quiet moments that followed, Jenna cradled Roxy in her arms, tears streaming down her cheeks as she whispered words of love and comfort. With profound sadness, Jenna made the agonizing decision to ease Roxy's pain and suffering. Surrounded by the love of her devoted owners, Roxy peacefully drifted into eternal sleep, her gentle spirit finally finding solace.
Though Roxy's time on this earth was far too short, her memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She may have been a dog, but to Jenna and her syster, she was familyโ€”a cherished companion whose unwavering loyalty and boundless affection brought light into her life. And as Jenna looks back on their adventures togetherโ€”the waves crashing against the shore, the rugged beauty of Snowdonโ€”she finds solace in knowing that Roxy is at peace, forever free to roam the vast expanse of nature she so dearly loved. โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ

Once upon a time, in a cosy suburban home nestled on a quaint street, lived two adorable Bichon Frise dogs named Teddy and Bluebell. These fluffy companions were known for their mischievous antics and boundless energy, often keeping their owner, Samantha, on her toes.
As Easter approached, Samantha couldn't resist the temptation to decorate the house with colourful eggs and treats. Among the decorations was a beautiful Easter egg, adorned with intricate patterns and filled with delicious chocolates. Little did Samantha know that this innocent decoration would soon become the centre of a canine caper.
One sunny afternoon, while Samantha was busy attending to chores around the house, Teddy and Bluebell spotted the enticing Easter egg sitting atop a table. Unable to resist their curiosity, the mischievous duo sprang into action. With synchronized precision, they leaped onto the table and snatched the Easter egg between their tiny jaws.
With gleeful abandon, Teddy and Bluebell devoured the chocolate treats inside the egg, savouring every bite. Unbeknownst to them, chocolate can be toxic to dogs, especially in large quantities. As the sweet confections disappeared into their eager mouths, Samantha suddenly realized that her beloved pets were in grave danger.
Alarmed, Samantha reached out to us, fearing the worst. After assessing the situation, I determined that the dogs had consumed only a minimal amount of chocolate, which was fortunately below toxic levels.
In order to prevent further complications, Iโ€™ve induced vomiting in Teddy and Bluebell to expel the toxic substances from their stomachs. With gentle care and expert attention, the dogs were monitored closely as they recovered from their ordeal.
Although Samantha was relieved that her furry companions were out of immediate danger, she couldn't shake the guilt of not keeping a closer eye on them. Teddy and Bluebell, on the other hand, seemed unfazed by the ordeal, wagging their tails and showering Samantha with affection as if to reassure her that all was forgiven.
I administered an anti-nausea injection to alleviate any discomfort they might be experiencing, and activated charcoal was recommended as a precautionary measure.
From that day forward, Samantha made sure to keep chocolate and other harmful treats safely out of reach from her adventurous pets. And while Teddy and Bluebell may have caused quite a scare, their misadventure served as a poignant reminder of the importance of pet safety and responsible ownership.โค๏ธโค๏ธ

This beautiful old lady was Ginny.
She was an 19 year old girl.
She was a talkative friendly girl.
She sadly had skin cancer and had begun losing weight.
She was a free spirit, spending her days basking in the warmth of the sun, chasing butterflies, and making friends with the birds that visited the garden.
June shared with me a delightful tale about Ginny during her earliest days, when she was just a tiny kitten
As June welcomed Ginny into her home, the tiny kitten wasted no time exploring every nook and cranny. With her playful spirit and boundless curiosity, Ginny quickly made herself at home, much to June's delight.
But as the hours passed, June began to notice that Ginny was nowhere to be found. Panic gripped her heart as she searched high and low, calling out for her beloved kitten. She checked under the bed, behind the sofa, and even inside the laundry basket, but there was no sign of Ginny anywhere.
Frustration and worry gnawed at June as she wondered how she could have lost Ginny so soon after bringing her home. Tears welled up in her eyes as she imagined all the worst-case scenarios.
Just when June was about to lose hope, she heard a faint rustling coming from the kitchen. Heart pounding with anticipation, she followed the sound and opened the cupboard door.
And there, nestled among the pots and pans, was Ginny, her wide eyes reflecting both fear and relief. June's heart swelled with love as she reached out to gently scoop Ginny into her arms.
June and her daughter Rhian made the decision to say goodbye at home.
Ginny had a little sedation and fell asleep in June's arms on the sofa.
She passed peacefully and quietly at home.

Rest in peace beautify girl. โค๏ธ๐ŸŒˆ

This little boy was almost 12 year old Chihuahua x Yorkshire Terrier called Bailey.
He had a few health issues and for the past few days his quality of life was declining.
He was struggling and his mum and dad Melanie and Christopher made the heart breaking decision to say goodbye on a better day. They wanted to do it at home.
Having him since he was a puppy and being their friend for almost 12 years they were both devastated to lose him along children Kyle, Amy, Jordan and grandchildren EMME and CAESI who adored him.
Bailey had also a birth defect and that made him even more special to this beautiful family.
He passed gently on his bed - both his mum and dad beside him.
Such a truly beautiful gentle little dog.
โ€œGoodbye my sweet boyโ€
Bailey you will be missed more than you will know.

This handsome boy was Tiny.โค๏ธ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿถ
He was a beautiful American Bullmastiff and would have been 10 years old in May.
This was a phenomenal age for this breed to live to.
He was clearly very loved and cared for.
Sadly Tiny was struggling with his mobility as well as he developed a skin condition that appeared to be like a Squamous Cell Carcinoma. His quality of life was also declining. His amazing family couldnโ€™t see him struggle.
Skin squamous cell carcinoma is the most commonly diagnosed carcinoma of the skin, and primarily affects older dogs. These tumours typically show up on the head, lower legs, rear, and abdomen, and appear as raised patches or lumps that are firm to the touch.
His devoted family Rhiannon and Jamie made the decision to say goodbye at home - in a safe, calm environment on their terms.
Tiny was on the sofa and we had a little hello.
We discussed options and decided to use sedatives.
He passed so peacefully at home.
Such a gentle boy.
My deepest condolences to this wonderful familyโค๏ธ

Meet Sky, a 6-year-old Yorkshire Terrier. Her owner contacted us concerned because Sky had been limping on her left hind limb since jumping off the sofa a few days ago.

Despite experiencing pain, Sky showed great bravery during the examination โ™ฅ๏ธ

While her overall condition appeared good, I suspect she may have injured her cruciate ligaments a common issue in dogs.

Sky received analgesia for pain relief and needs plenty of rest. She'll have a follow-up appointment in 10 days, and if there's no improvement, she may require an X-ray.

Wishing you all the best, Sky! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’•

I wanted to share a sweet memory of Dylan, an 18-year-old cat who was incredibly friendly.
When his mum Pauline let me in he was on the couch where he's been spending most of his time lately.
Very cruelly Dylan's quality of life deteriorated rapidly. He was losing weight despite a ravenous appetite and wasnโ€™t himself.
Despite his recent health decline, his mom Pauline made the brave decision to say goodbye.
Pauline had had him from a kitten and loved him fiercely.

Dr Vitalie Mutruc, is by far the best vetinarian we have ever seen. He came today to help a stray cat that had been living with us for around Two Weeks. My wife and I named him Blue. Blue had been having bad diarrhoea and vomiting for a week and losing so much weight. Blue had liver problems, no muscle mass and a large tumour, which we didn't notice. Blue is now finally running free over the rainbow Bridge. He was an absolute gorgeous cat. THIS VET I WOULD RECOMMEND TO ALL. SUCH A LOVELY GUY.

End Of Life Care, What is euthanasia?๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•

Putting your pet to sleep, or euthanasia, is a very difficult decision, and we understand how challenging it can be. However, in certain circumstances, it is the kindest option available to prevent your pet from suffering.
Some illnesses and injuries are beyond our abilities to cure or manage adequately, and if your pet is unable to get better or maintain a good quality of life we may recommend euthanasia.

Veterinary Medical Center from OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY has introduced a valuable tool in the form of a quality-of-life diary. Having information documented is advantageous, especially because, much like humans, elderly pets experience both good and bad days. Comparing these ups and downs can be challenging to do mentally, so the diary can be easily downloaded below.
After you've made the decision, you might want to consider options such as a home burial, a communal cremation, or a private cremation with the return of the ashes.
Afterwards, we use a lovely company called PCS who are based in Newport.
We know that their drivers will treat your pet with gentleness, care and compassion. We know that when you request the return of your petโ€™s ashes that it is definitely your pet that you get back.
Pets may be returned in a variety of urns, scatter tubes or caskets. To see the full range and to find out more about PCS, please visit their website.
Losing a pet is so hard and we are all pet owners and do understand how devastating your loss may be. There are a variety of compassionate, pet bereavement services available and we would particularly recommend the one run by the Blue Cross, who offer a free and confidential service.
