Giving you dog time to meet their need for sniffing and exploring . It calms and tires at the same time and fills up their happy cups.
Not all walks have to be a rush for mileage, in fact I pause regularly on all my walks ! It’s important and often overlooked!

Pack drive is a state of mind that calms and lowers arousal levels allowing your dog to meet their needs within their threshold.

Many dogs that are walked are not in this frame of mind and you see ‘reactions’ like barking, running up to other dogs or running away to chase . Which can and often is stressful and problematic for the handler.

Lovely play between a 5 year old GsD and a 9month old spaniel.
The spaniel came into foster a total loon with no switch off button.
The play is lead by the german shepherd who engages and disengages before the pup gets over aroused.
You can see the spaniel playing calmly though typical young dog without loosing her head.
Short periods of pause and reinitiating interaction again.
What a great way to learn dog etiquette through play!

A brilliant turnout yesterday for the ‘unleashed’ dog walking group! Our smallest ever little shrimp came along and was a total delight. She was so happy amongst all the dogs and managed such a big walk!

The dogs had a proper sniffari and everyone had such a fun time, followed by a classy tea and coffee in the carpark 🤣🤣
Lucy even made the most delicious cakes🥰

Training a clients dog to walk heel.
This lovely fellow likes to pull and ignore the handler so we are working on focus and engagement with the handler here.
He has been bribed like crazy 🤣 to help him understand what I’m asking but this is him working entirely from his own brain and learning without a single treat 👏Little fun at the end as a reward.
Training takes time. Don’t expect perfection from your dog overnight 😘

Working your working dog on a shoot is a privilege not many have that own gundogs..when I see my dogs unfurl their natural abilities I feel I am doing them justice.
I do feel sorry for the pheasants if truth be told but I’m not going to stop the system so I will at least fulfill my dogs needs to do what they are bred to do and trained to do.. focus, work ethics and fulfilment.
