We have been notified that a poisonous plant is being used as decoration in a pot plant that can be purchased in garden centres and possibly florists.

The pot plant is Livistona rotundifolia (footstool palm; also known as Saribus rotundifolius) and pots of these plants are decorated with three fibrous balls. The balls are the skeletonised fruit of Cerbera odollam (su***de tree, pong-pong). Within each fruit is a kernel that is extremely toxic; a single kernel can be fatal if eaten and poses a risk to both pets and people. The toxic compounds in Cerbera odollam are cardiac glycosides, which are also found in foxglove, oleander, lily of the valley and other plants.

If you have these fibrous fruits in your pot plant, remove them and dispose of them safely. It you are worried your pet may have eaten the plant material contact Animal PoisonLine (01202 509 000)or your vet immediately.

We had the delightful Coco and Bella in for their first ever big girl grooms
Sometimes we can’t get a pristine cut as we have shorter areas that we’ve clipped out and little pups are fidgety.
We have to work quickly before they get tired and sometimes it’s like wrestling a box of frogs 😆
Our pups leaving happy and wanting to come back again is a main priority- they’ll get more patient and less wriggly over time 👌🏻
These two were great and very cute.
Their mum loved their long shaggy look but equally loved their new look 🙌🏻

The indomitable Camberley Kate, aka Kate Ward, and her stray dogs in England in 1962.

Camberley Kate was born in Middlesbrough on June 13, 1895. Orphaned before the age of ten, she was brought up by an aunt in a strict religious atmosphere. As a young girl she went into the ministry and eventually found her way to Camberley. In later years, she once claimed to have been a chef in the RMC at the time of the Battle of the Somme, although she would have been only 21 years old.

She also mentioned that she knew what it was like to be homeless.
In 1943, Kate bought a cottage in Yorktown and soon took in her first stray, a dog that was about to be euthanized for lameness.

Over time, the number of dogs in her home grew - some tied to her door, others left in carrier bags, still others brought to her by police or other authorities. By the end of her life, she estimated that she had cared for more than 600 dogs.

Kate and her olive green handcart painted "STRAY DOGS" were a familiar sight in the area as she pushed it from Yorktown to Camberley every day.
She died on August 4, 1979.
