**CHECK LIGAMENT REHAB**
The inferior check ligament, also known as the accessory ligament of the deep digital flexor tendon, is an interesting and important soft-tissue structure in the equine athlete. Here is Millie Robinson Veterinary Physiotherapist treating a horse today as part of his rehab and recovery.
Check Ligament Injury occurs most often in the front limbs from overextension because of excessive twisting or pivoting on the leg. Injuries to the inferior check ligament do not get the attention that other injuries in this area tend to get, such as those to the suspensory ligament and flexor tendons, as they occur less often.
A horse who has a tear of the inferior check ligament will show a variable degree of lameness. However, if the ligament is only mildly strained or inflamed, lameness will often not be present. Careful regular examination and palpation of the back of the cannon bone, including the tendons and ligaments, will reveal a focal area of swelling laterally and/or medially in the upper third of the cannon bone.

Here’s what summer looks like at Willow Equestrian 🌳
Incrediby proud of these two today 🌳
When Tracey joined Willow Equestrian a few months ago she was incredibly nervous in the school from previous bad experiences, to the point of avoiding it all together.
Little by little we have worked through those worries, introduced schooling in walk, trot, canter and even some jumps building on confidence for Tracey and balance for Rocket to create the most beautiful partnership.
Today they went to their FIRST show together with nothing but normal show nerves, and absolutely aced it! Big future for these two and we are so pleased to be a part of it 🏆

From two circles of red spray paint to now the horse walker is 48 hours away from being complete 🐎
What and incredible process and journey. Looking forwards to sharing the ‘finished’ picture once Monarch have been for installation on Saturday morning.
Until this point this project has been entirely ‘in house’ so grateful for the incredible skill set right on our doorstep 🔨
An early morning visit from one of our fantastic farriers this morning, We take care of the logistics of shoeing for all of our liveries to fit with the horses schedule and the farriers too 🐴
It’s already 27 degrees here but the horses are cool as cucumbers after their morning baths ☀️
