Today is a Very Happy day at Huxley’s Trails 🐱🐱
So it should have just been one Maine c**n kitten ‘Gaia’ but instead we brought home ‘Athena’ as well!

Please welcome three new doggies to Huxley’s Trails family … Dougal literally loves every doggie friend he meets and in this photo has enjoyed a good run in the mud!
Diggory joined me for his first walk on Monday and soon bounded around with some new buddies and rolled in something which to him probably smelt amazing 🤩
The beautiful Milly has such a gentle and kind personality and is just having occasional visits at the moment. 🐾

This little girl will be our new addition to our family coming later in the year as she’s just two weeks old today !
Gaia is a Maine c**n kitten and will hopefully be full of fun and enjoy living with us and her new buddies Dora and Bo 🐾🐾
Currently loving her pink nose and sunglasses 😎

January has been a busy month with four new doggies joining Huxley’s Trails - Dog walking and pet services. Please welcome the puppy in a handbag Crumble! Crumble is all brand new and has had little home visits as well as short social meet ups with Charlie to begin with and later some of your doggies before she joins the big girl walks.
Fletcher and Binky love to chase each other almost everywhere but have settled in nicely with the early morning girl groups.
Cooper is also full of fun and loves to chase and smell out all the scents in the woods!

Happy New Year everyone !!!
Apologies as it has been a very long time since I posted on here …
In August we welcomed Mick (first pic) who started with a few holiday walks and has now joined our regular groups. He loves to run with the more playful dogs and is full of Kelpie energy!
Hetty (second pic) recently joined us in December. She is a beautiful gentle spaniel who loves to roam into the woods and have the occasional zoomie with her new friends!
This year has been a very busy one overall filled with both joy and sadness. I have seen some of your doggies progress from puppies to adults, shy dogs gaining confidence, dogs making new friends and sadly seeing some leave and move out of area. Special mentions to Silkie and Nemo, Mr Darcy, Jac and Gwen, Dexter, Leo, Alfie and Diesel . All special doggies who I miss dearly for their lovely personalities. (So sorry if I have missed anyone !)
This year I have started looking after my granddaughter Lily on a Friday and we have had fun with your doggies at Charwell dog adventures. You may hear her in the videos blowing a whistle or huffing in the background, copying them!
Judi aka grandma has also joined me a couple of times a week on walks as an extra pair of hands. The dogs love her and check in with her as well as me when they’re chasing and playing ahead.
As well as dog walking I have been busy with pet visits and some overnight stays. This year has been mainly cats, rabbits, chickens, ponies and dogs …. And a newt !
I look forward to welcoming some new doggies this month and to some new adventures!

Feeling nostalgic today as I finish my last walk with Marshall and Freddie. Marshall was one of the first dogs I have walked since I first started my business 5 years ago. Very sad to see them go but wish them every happiness in their new amazing adventures moving to sunny Spain 🇪🇸 🐕🐕

Tribute to our beloved Diego.

Sadly 2 weeks ago Diego went to sleep.
Here’s just a snapshot of a few of my memories with him .
One evening Nick and I had spoken how much we missed a tabby cat in our lives. Basically I saw this as a green light to get ‘said cat’ so the next day I was on it …. I came home with a sob story about how Rosie and I had gone to visit this poor rescue cat from the cat protection. He was outside in a cage in the freezing pouring rain in January. You’ll love him I said , he’s got so much character! Next day we brought him home . We were a bit worried to be honest as he seemed pretty fiesty in the car swiping his paw out of the cat carrier and I didn’t want him bullying Huxley!
Diego was a stunning and striking tabby who we sometimes referred to as 🐌 snaily because he had two images of an outline of a snail on both his sides with the antenna! He was long and you could stretch him out as in the picture!
Over time Diego grew to relax, trust and love us .
He loved to be part of the family, he would snuggle up with his chosen person or conversely swipe at you if he’d had enough. Diego was a true Bradley he loved food ….He ate pizza, mayonnaise and most things off your dinner plate, swiping it gently from your plate! He was a dog cat , he would sit with Huxley and Bo when you opened the fridge, the three amigos sat together waiting for a piece of cheese treat in turn . Typically you’d find him in his biscuit tin helping himself to food ! He’d go out long distances during the day and you could call and shake his food and he’d fly back in from nowhere for his dinner !
He used to sleep between us in bed really happy and cosy but over the years he got banned as he started what I refer to as a Simon’s cat routine !
He would tap my cheek with his paw 🐾 to see if that woke me , then chew my hair , then swiping my phone to the floor and wait for reaction? Finally if all these didn’t work he’d chew the wire on the bedside lamp (this was his guaranteed breakfast wake up call as he knew I was worried he’d get electrocuted at this point !!)
Food was life for Diego going from roughly a 2.5 kg cat when we first got him to nearly 6kg fully grown. We tried diets, measuring his food but he would steel from neighbours cats food bowls . He loved hunting especially birds , meowing when he saw them. Once he got locked in our shed and I don’t know who did this but luckily when you called and shook food he would meow and that’s how we found him.
He had girlfriends in the terrace who he would roll in the dirt with or hang out watching birds together on their shed roof.
Diego we think had many more than 9 lives . He definitely sustained at least 3 car accidents. One time he broke his jaw, his bite was never quite the same. Another time he had suspected toxoplasmosis and recovered after medication. His last hit and run we absolutely believed we were saying goodbye. He broke his pelvis in 3 places but miraculously after months of cage rest he survived ! At this point we bought the outdoor catio run for him so he could safely be outside. In the past there was no way that you could keep this cat indoors but somehow this time he knew he was more delicate and accepted his new lifestyle. Passers by would ask what we kept in the huge cage and were always surprised that it was just our cat ! He would sunbathe and scratch his he posts , and meow at the birds he longed to catch !
When Dora arrived she would spend hours trying to be his friend by sniffing his butt and bringing her toys to him. She would ask to play and be friends and you would occasionally see them laid next to each other but he’d always walk away or swipe her when he’d had enough .
Diego loved playing ping pong he’d swipe them back at you , jump and catch a ping pong mid air and often you’d hear him self entertaining with a ball upstairs rolling around !
Tragically his injuries from the last car accident caused him arthritis in his pelvis and he developed a mega colon which stopped his ability to be able to p**p by himself without enemas and medications.

Rest In Peace Diego, we love you always, you were so loved by us all and genuinely you were the best cat ever ❤️

I think pretty much everyone that knows me will know that I have a passion for retrievers (Thank you Huxley ❤️)
In between your doggie walks I have a limited space where I am often asked for puppy visits / or pop in visits for various animals from cats to ponies to chickens et al !
Today I visited 3 beautiful generations…. Ellie, Saffy and Barley ❤️ Perfectly gorgeous and so well behaved …, they played in their stunning idyllic woodland of a garden with a stream running through it. So grateful for wonderful clients and amazing dogs ! ❤️

Sammy is a handsome rescue dog currently an ‘on lead’ fluffy bear!
Lyra the beautiful cockapoo joined me this week for her first walk and settled in perfectly with her new friends. Indi is to the left of her in the picture but he’s also on his own in the following photo . Big doggie and huge heart ❤️ he’s a big softie of a New Zealand Huntaway !

Dexter joined the big boy walks this week and did so well off lead playing with his new pack of friends ! He has been with me for two months now and has had plenty of social interactions with some of your doggies mostly in an enclosed paddock where we have practiced having fun and recall. So lovely to watch them nurture and grow from pups to adult dogs!

Please welcome the handsome new puppy Dexter who has joined us this month for little visits and socialising which is so important for them especially in the early few months. Dexter has had some regular paddock runs with Misty and Leo and has played with some of your doggies after their walks in his garden.

A really sad day today as this is Bertie’s last walk with me at Huxley’s Trails . Bertie has been an absolute pleasure to walk, just look at his smile ! Reminiscing of some of his cheekiest antics I recall him hopping into the boot of several strangers cars as we headed back to our car after the walk ! He’s not actually that fussy … they might be going somewhere more interesting 🤔

Puppy Libby has settled in beautifully with her new friends and has just started big girl walks!
Little Leo is just 11 weeks and sits when asked , he will have little visits and soon start socialising with some of your doggies!

Happy first birthday adorable Dora 🎂
Yesterday Dora had a golden retriever meet up with a party of 77 goldens at Charwell Dog Adventures It was a last minute decision to add a yellow bow to her collar to be able to find her easily…. She had a blast 💥 running between all the fields and playing with as many dogs as she could ! ❤️

Today I visited 3 beautiful generations…. So pleased to have Seren back on our walks at Huxley’s Trails ! Mr Darcy and Walter showing off their moves to entice her in their play. Luckily not too many visitors near the mill on that day 😂

Yesterday we had a Huxley’s Trails dog school trip day out at Charwell Dog Adventures . Dora was thrilled as she is still in season but could play with all her girlie friends ❤️🐶❤️

We have a swimmer!! Bo once accidentally swam at 13 weeks old trying to follow Huxley and I think he scared himself as he got caught in the current of a stream (never once swimming properly since). 5 year and 10months on .... he’s learnt to swim ! Maybe Huxley stole the limelight? But he’s more cuddly and interacting with us so much more now he’s gone. Let’s hope he’s not too upset that we are are on golden retriever puppy list ! 🐶🐶

Happiest of birthdays to Misty who is 2 and Charlie who is 1 today and happened to be on the same birthday walk! 🐶❤️

My Huxley bear ... swimming his little heart out after his Spring clip.... just look at that waggy tail ... it says it all !!!! ❤️ I often have comments about what sort of dog is he / which breed / what have you done to him ?
