New walks for Friday which was enjoyed by all!

One reason why I instill and insist on obedience, recall and general manners is being confident to take the dogs somewhere new, knowing I can keep them safe along with any wildlife/livestock we may encounter.

This week alone I've seen 2 horses being harassed / chased by off lead dogs, a cyclist being chased by a terrier and met a runner who had been bitten by a lab earlier this week 😱 which frankly is shocking!

New girl did well today, bit unsure on our first walk but today she was definitely up for coming out to play! As usual Zig brings out the play in her. Will start to introduce her to the others slowly so she can join on our group walks.

We are back! It's been a long 14 weeks, a broken leg, 2 vans later and I seem to have skipped Winter but it was so good to have the pups out again! They all checked in for cuddles at least 378 times 🥰

The 4 of them could not / would not get on at once 🥴 I tried for a good 10mins but whichever way I tried, when the 4th jumped up, one of them jumped off 🤷🤦

I needed someone videoing it 🙈

But nippy this morning so headed for the sun for the first bit of the walk, everyone soon warmed up! Everyone was happier with no bloomin' rain today though 🙌☀️

Some from the last few weeks 🐶🐾

The Setter has settled in lovely with the others now and actually he's not that fussed for other dogs, don't need to worry about him rushing up to unknown dogs. He's still a bit nervy of horses but recalls back away from them 🙌 and lots of practice with impulse control and 'wait'.

The dogs are definitely enjoying the autumnal weather, lots of big fresh puddles to drink and smells everywhere in the damp and just being cooler to run their crazy off!

Good boys this morning 🥰 all enjoyed a lovely sunny walk & only saw one horse rider. The Setter hasn't had any good experiences around horses yet so he did well today recalling first time & sitting nice & calm whilst they walked past.

The other boys showed him how to act perfectly, I take for granted how good they are sometimes 🫶

This has taken practice. It doesn't happen naturally. Especially with a Pointer/Setter, Labrador and a Deerhound.

Day 1 of the week with little Miss GSP and she nailed her first sit stay today 🙌 she normally pushes back, a lot on day 1 😂 but her obedience was spot on today; Bar her recall which is still a work in progress as her prey drive is high 🚀 There is nothing more rewarding watching a working dog do what they're meant to do but it must be controlled and she still needs some controlling 😂 love her trying though!

Recall hot on the pursuit of lés squirrél, every time no matter the distraction be it deer, rabbit, birds, sheep & cows. This boy has caught & killed prey before, so his motivation to hunt is very real and had only been enforced by achieving the ultimate reward in killing it, several times 😱🙈 Not anymore he doesn't!

The rain sent these 2 scent crazy this evening, so a bit of listening was in order, few of these and some off lead heel work in-between, just to make them think!

I've been working really hard on off lead heel work with the cocker and gsp and today they all smashed it! Chuffed as the cocker has been hard work but consistency has paid off, today anyway 💪
