Junior Paws - developing the power of play where we build the use of a training toy to create desire for the dogs to choose the toy over other exciting situations. Most dog sports are trained with a toy rather than anything else because it's fun, rewarding and works will a dog natural drive. Training toys should only ever be used with dogs and it owners/handler, you want the dog to understand that the play with the training toy in only accessible by working with the owner to get the reward. We don't want them playing with it by themselves as it takes away the need of the handler.
Play with a training toy should be short and sweet initially, play for 10/15 seconds at a time creates more desire and leaves the dogs wanting more. We don't want them to get board of it coz it gets over used for extended periods of time when starting to develop a great training toy. Less is definitely more.

Gold Paws 🐾 class working really hard on the send to beds with their dogs. This has taken lots of dedicated training to get the dogs to go out confidently, reach their bed/blanket, turn to face their handlers & then lay down to wait for their reward. I'm so proud of Sophie, Liz & Sally, even more chuffed with Indie, Bo & Skye.
Bronze Paws 🐾 class. Loose lead walking with the introduction of some dogs working off lead by dropping their leads as they are walking. The dogs are paying attention to their handlers and getting rewarded for all their hard work whilst paying no interest to the other dogs who are working in close proximity. Excellent work everyone 👏.

Absolutely chuffed to bits with the dedication on our Junior Paws course who are working on asking their dogs to sit by only asking once!!! So instant, one cue sit. Something that we often repeat too many times so our dogs learn to ignore us and our consant nagging.

Wow!!! This was our first attempt of training a "Send Away" or a "Send to bed," and these guys absolutely nailed it!! The dogs were sooo quick to learn it and, more importantly, they enjoyed it. It almost looks like the footage is in slow motion, but this is the amazing dedication to training from our students teaching their dogs to walk on a loose lead at a super slow pace out and about in real life situations.
