So this year i am discontinuing my Pumpkin tutu and my spellbound tutu from the hog-oween range . but they will be replaced with much more funky designs cobweb tutu and a spell bound tutu that is brilliantly colourful..

Aldi are selling hedgehog houses for £7.99 which is a really good price but before you rush out and buy them there are some things you might like to take into account.

These houses are made of metal with twigs over the top, there is no base. If you just stick these out in your garden under a bush whilst you might get a hedgehog to stay in the summer it does not make a good hibernaculum for the winter unless it is placed somewhere very dry so the ground underneath doesn't get wet. It will also need to be extremely well insulated by piling lots of leaves and branches over it or putting it in the bottom of a compost heap. Metal does not stay warm.

Hedgehog Haven Essex

We have been getting quite a few hedgehogs in that have been found out in daylight. So well done everyone for your vigilance! This is hopefully a sign that the message is getting through that this is not normal behaviour.
Below for example, we have a male brought in by Maxine on June 4th (585g) & a female brought in by Katherine on the 28th May (378g) Both have received a course of treatment & are now over 700g. Hopefully fit to go soon.
Please keep spreading the word that hedgehogs out during the day are usually in trouble & need help!

A hedgehog nest looks like old grass and it could be anywhere - under the shed, under decking, in an old outhouse, even in the wood pile Please contact you nearest hedgehog rehabilitator as soon as possible, hoglets are difficult to hand rear and need to be with experienced carers
