Be more like Dave❗

Dave is happily playing because he knows he has helped spread the word about Pet Blood Bank UK 🐶 🐾

You can do the same - if your dog is between 1 and 8 years old, weighs over 25kg, is happy, healthy, confident and friendly they could give blood and you can spread the word!

Pet Blood Bank UK is a charity that helps save lives by providing a blood service for pets. They run donation sessions across the UK, where owners can take their dogs to give blood.

Our very own Willows Veterinary Hospital is going to be a donor site, but we need you and your lovely dogs to help us get enough blood in our bank.

For more information visit the Pet Blood Bank UK Website or contact Willows Veterinary Hospital!

Did you know ❓

Your pets’ feeding and exercise routine may change when your pet is diabetic.

To keep blood sugar as steady as possible, you would need to feed your pet twice a day. They would need to eat the same amount and type of food every day.

Exercising uses up blood sugar so a set amount of exercise, at set times each day would be best for your pet.

If you have any concerns about feeding or exercising your diabetic pet, please contact your local Willows branch ☎️ 🐾

How diabetes can be treated⁉️

Just like people, diabetic animals need insulin.

Treatment usually involves:
• Insulin injections under the skin twice per day, usually for the rest of the pet’s life
• Dietary changes such as a low carbohydrate diet for cats, and a low sugar diet, balanced in calories and fats, for dogs - If caught early, weight loss in some obese diabetic cats can reverse their diabetes!
