The riders feel down the rein is everything. Explore it, think about it, talk about it, because without great feel down the reins riders have nothing ... nothing but brutality.

There are riders and there are people who just pull the reins. Which of the two are you ? Anybody who wants to seek a greater feel through the reins just contact me [email protected] 🐎

Today I should be in London talking horses with Tv folk, but that’s cancelled, I could have been in York watching horses but I am actually heading to Todmorden to work with horses… 🤷‍♂️🐎 it could be worse and I stopped to sort messages and e mail … I see some beautiful places but hardly ever stop …

Hollingworth Lake … and the actual edge of the weather front I am heading into the blue ❤️🐎

I am absolutely over the moon for Jenny … this is where she is now with Spike who I used to call the merciless but who now hacks out chewin’ his gum and wigglin’ his bum …

A fantastic result.. and now he can take his wonderfully straight and highly cadenced walk into the arena … 🐎👏

Spike has learnt to trust humans again and has come back from a dark place where he had been treated badly previously … and not one single bit of force has been used in the whole process too. Spike is finding his inner police horse aka his balls of steel… 🐎👏

Well I hope we can repeat the magic of Saturday over here in Lower Saxony Germany today, where every session hit every objective and all the horses and riders showed fundamental, marked and sustainable improvement … I was pleased.

…it is going well and it is somewhat sad that my guide and mentor the late great Dorothy Johnson F,B.H.S can not see me now. Dorothy always told me that the key to getting people to help their horses was to get them to listen. Some people will, some people will not. It is what it is, however, the German riders I have met have beautiful horses and they know how to listen.

I am really looking forward to more of the same today, the weather is gorgeous. 🐎

In 25 years as a mounted police officer out of 30 as a cop altogether the subject of interactions between horses (flight animals and dogs (hard wired predators) is probably the one that contains the most ignorance.

I was cornered dozens of times by large, determined and fierce dogs when horse riding, but never attacked. I drew up training plans for others and they were largely ignored. Humans struggle and often fail when under pressure, in my experience. I will leave it at that.

I now also leave such debates to the know nothings on this subject, I do similar to the debates surrounding people horse riding on roads, I have had enough. I was asked about this tragic incident at least 20 times last week and have absolutely nothing to say. You cannot teach anybody who knows everything anything. 💁

After a grand meeting with the owner of Everything Equestrian yesterday I am really looking forward to collaborating with this extremely impressive set up.

We share a real appreciation and belief in core principles of integrity and professionalism in the equine sector. And boy oh boy OH BOY does the equine sector need these principles reinforcing.

It’s all for the horses.

Thank you to Sophie Everett and Martin McQuillan for this opportunity to spread the good news about horses to new places …

The Lonely Arts Podcasts Series 5 episode 7 from Edge Hill University’s dynamic arts department is actually about me. Next week it will be out there on Spotify for anyone and everyone to listen.

Martin has placed me in the company of some extremely successful sons, daughters and friends of my home city of Liverpool and to have even been asked is something I know my dad if he was alive, my mother, who is not completely with it now aged 88 and my dearly departed brother would have been very proud of. My sister Donna always is.

How it comes across I will soon find out. I have put my own podcasts on hold recently as I am not sure if I want to do them. The outcome of this next week will go a long way to making my mind up for me.

Just remember folks those who advocate for horses outside of the horse world do so in very, very, very small numbers. We are seen as elitist arrogant white and aloof, we know that is not true but someone has to convince people who matter we are not or social licence for a lot if not all equestrianism is under threat, trust me on that.

In a funny twist of fate Lady Dodd, wife of the late, great comedy legend Sir Kenneth Dodd is on this week before me and over 60 years ago when my mother sang professionally she warmed audiences up for Ken at the NUR club in Deane Road, Liverpool.. so when it comes to the Seddons and the Dodds we got form.

I hope those who listen in on Spotify, enjoy it and feel comfortable giving whstever feedback they feel is appropriate either to the team at Edge Hill University or me [email protected]

Do remember It’s ALL for the horses. Thanks much 🐎

In between some really interesting groundwork I will be doing some of the less dangerous and demanding horse fixing stuff today … riding lessons …

Don’t forget folks… what you say or think your horse is doing in terms of performance is not necessarily what it actually iS doing. …

take for example actual straightness and it’s effect upon length of stride … and this will be todays theme for both riders … 🐎

Grand to get back to Toby stallion today and he is writing his own emotional laced rollercoaster ride of a story and we are making a series of one minute training videos charting Alex and Tobys’ progress …

aside from that which will all be revealed in good time here is a snippet …

every session I call him in and he responds in dramatic fashion .. so today I thought I would capture his immensely powerful hock action for all to see… and we had a grand bonus at the end too 🐎…

This is a fantastic story … Alix Ellis is also improving her techniques now to the point where Toby is learning who is in charge and who thinks they are 🐎

So pleased today with Glen the young Connemara he’s had a tricky start to life this guy … however this mornings groundwork session was pure gold, foot perfect and as good a session as any I have ever done with a youngster ever.

I am so pleased for Carolyn Thornburn and her mum who kept the faith. What a pony you have going on here 🐎…

I am really excited for tomorrow …I am being interviewed at the Onomatopoeia studio in Liverpool, my hometown, by Martin McQuillan of The Lonely Arts Club podcast.

Martin has very kindly invited me along and I am so happy to have this opportunity to talk about my life with the horses.

I hope I can stay calm and also not get too emotional which often happens when. I talk from the heart about horses and their effect on me.

I want to present myself and the horses in the best possible light. I have only ever done something like this, a formal media orientated interview, once before, and that was a long time ago. I do though have a grand feeling about tomorrow. I am as ready as I ever wil be 😊🐎

I really enjoyed sending some remote lesson plans and feedback for Soring 2023 to grateful clients abroad over the weekend. They are brilliantly effective ways to improve things for horses and riders. It took me four years to get them right and now I am satisfied they fly.

I sent them to the USA and Germany. 🐎
