Let's see what September has in store for us.....
We had three newborn kittens brought in yesterday. Mum gave birth and then abandoned her babies. Luckily, the kittens were noticed dotted around the area and scooped up. Not all cats have good maternal instincts.
Chesterfield Rspca and Chesterfield Cats Protection are arranging to trap mum and get her the care needed, but the priority yesterday was getting these little ones warmed up and feeding.
We get through huge amounts of kitten milk to hand rear kittens.πΌπΌπΌ
Can you help?
Donate Β£15 towards their care. Β£15 will buy one tub of kitten milk.

Blossom gave birth yesterday.
πΈπΈπΈ
Beautiful Blossom only arrived at the centre a few weeks ago with two kittens. She was already pregnant on arrival and yesterday gave birth to 6 more kittens. Two were sadly still born. But Blossom and her 4 healthy kittens are doing well.
We are desperate for kitten meat in Jelly and Purina One Kitten Biscuits as the maternity unit is busy.

Blossom and her kittens Bramble and Ivy had been spotted by a concerned resident in a neighbouring town. The lady was in her 90's and sounded extremely distressed and confused on the phone. We were worried for her, so our team arranged a visit straight away to find out more.
On our first visit we managed to catch one kitten, Bramble, the tabby boy with the white foot. The others soon scarpered. They were too 'wild'. We left Mum so she could continue to care for her remaining kittens as they were still to young to survive outside without mum and we made a plan to go back. Sadly one of the kittens was killed on a road nearby and we believe another was taken in by a neighbouring resident.
The family of the eldery lady then got involved and Blossom and her remaining kitten, Ivy were caught and arrangements were made for them to join Bramble at the sanctuary.
Blossom is a gorgeous and sweet young lady. We believe her to only be around a year old and was unfortunately already pregnant again on arrival. She will stay with us until she has raised her new kittens and will then be looking for a forever home.
Bramble and Ivy are now ready to start looking for their forever families. Any potential homes must have lots of time to build up trust.
If you think you can offer this environment we'd love to hear from you.
We are raising money for Blossom and her kittens to help with vets fees and care costs. We hope you will support them.

The flooding earlier in the week and cold temperatures has made life very challenging for some of the younger Hedgehogs.
Snotty noses, hypothermia, starving hungry, leg abscesses, strimmer injuries...the list goes on.
We're absolutely desperate for more space and funding, so we can help more.

The Uplifting Symbolism of the White Dove
White doves are thought to bring peace and good fortune. A symbol of hope and renewal, the dove has often been associated with messages of harmony and the promise of a brighter tomorrow. Its presence in various cultural and spiritual contexts highlights its enduring significance as a messenger of peace and a symbol of compassion and unity.
We have many doves that have chosen to make the Pet Samaritans and Wildlife Angels their home. They love our garden. It's nice to think their presence has a significant meaning.π§‘ππ

Another release day today. This time, it was a group of pigeons. They have all come in with various injuries over the last few months and have healed well. Filming them proved a challenge, though, as they all flew off in different directions!
Please support us and help keep the centre open.

Another successful duckling release today. 22 this time!
They all came to us as tiny little ducklings. Many of this group were rescued from the courtyards at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. Ducks have been making their nests in the courtyards for years, but sadly, the ducklings are being picked off by predators soon after hatching.ππ¦
We've saved hundreds of ducklings from the courtyards over the last few years. Project 'Royal Ducklings' has been a huge financial commitment for the sanctuary, but hopefully, the help has been appreciated.
If you would like to support the ducklings in our care, please follow the DONATE button on our website to make a donation.

Feed me first!!!π§‘ππ
The swallows ready for their breakfast this morning. They are hungry little birds. The will each eat around 5 waxworm per feeding and are fed around 6 times a day. So this little group is eating just under 300 waxworm a day! Waxworms are the larvae of the Wax moth, they are highly nutritious and have a high fat content so a great food source for hand rearing wild birds.

Henry, Hetty and Plop are extremely grateful for all your support do far. We've still got a little way to go to reach their target amount though. The money raised will help towards the cost of food required until the Owls release day. It doesn't cover any of their care or contributions towards centre running costs, heating, water etc. Rearing bird of prey is always a huge investment for the sanctuary. Please share this fundraiser with your friends and family and help reach our target.

Mary, the field mouse, was found just over a month ago lying out in the open, her eyes closed. She was brought to the Wildlife Hospital, and over the following days, Mary started eating and gaining strength. Then, just a few days ago, 5 young field mice were brought in after a garden renovation project disturbed a nest and joined Mary. The 5 young mice are now all eating well, are very lively, and are ready for release. The chosen release area is in some woodland with plentiful food and shelter for them.
Please consider supporting our work. We are always looking for help with funds. You can become a Wildlife Angel for just Β£4 a month, send us a one-off donation, or become a 'Wildlife Guardian' and invest in current projects and sanctuary running costs.
