Please read Katrina's from Oakley grooming as applies to all of us ..

Some of you may have seen a select few groomers are opening up.

Although we haven’t been told specifically to close, the restrictions in place make it virtually impossible to open safely.

No customers are to travel to salons (unnecessary travel) as they could be fined. All dogs are to be collected. Between each movement of the dog we would need to fully disinfect our salons, equipment and vehicles.

This means an average groom of an hour and a half would most likely double if not more.
Although we have vehicle insurance, it is for emergencies and I would not be covered for regular collection and drop offs. Our salon is kept extremely clean and tidy but the size would cause major difficulties in disinfecting thoroughly between dogs.

We know how much you want to keep your pets comfortable and maintained during this time and we are missing them greatly. But we want to keep you and your family safe, grooming right now would put all of us at risk.

We will always be completely honest and give you as much advice as we can.

Following the Prime Minister's address to the country Monday 23rd March:
B**A advises the following:
• pet grooming is a NON essential business
• all grooming businesses should now be CLOSED and remain so until further government instruction (revised in 3 weeks)
• you should follow ALL government advice
We understand and appreciate that many pet groomers have been confused in the absence of any government web page not specifically identifying pet grooming as non-essential.
Meanwhile, vets have been instructed only to treat pets in an emergency. The police are enforcing essential journeys only. Trading Standards and Local Authorities are likewise interpreting the new bill to mean essential journeys only - which don't include taking your pet for a groom - and are waiting confirmation from central Government.
We are pressing for a definitive answer on pet groomers from all relevant departments in Government and will share this with you as soon as possible. This is still a fast-changing situation, shifting by the hour, and we are doing our best to bring you every update. Thank you for your patience.
(Please note: pet retailers are exempted from the restrictions. If you are selling food and other necessary goods you may continue to trade, but NOT offer grooming, until further notice.)

The vast majority of these rawhide products and treats come from China.

Their journey starts with the hides being soaked in a toxic sodium sulphide to remove the hair and fat. More chemicals are used in order to split the hide into layers which is then washed with hydrogen peroxide to give the white "pure" look and remove the rancid smell.
Now comes the pretty festive colours and the glue to form cute shapes.

They regularly cause intestinal blockages and choking. The chews go slippery when wet and are near impossible to get hold of to save a choking dog.
