After devouring a copy of 📖 one of your first jobs is to schedule an appointment with an approved ultrasound professional.
We recommend doing this two weeks after mating to get availability with your preferred scanning professional.
For dogs, most scanners recommend booking this appointment for between day 32-35 from mating.
As tempting as it is, we recommend against scanning before day 28 because absorption is more likely, and because at less than 1cm diameter, the embryonic sacs are often well hidden, so false negative diagnosis is much more likely.
For other species of pregnant animals, the optimum scanning time varies. Message us for advice on when to book your scan.
Many of the best scanners in the UK are members of the Animal Ultrasound Association. Contact us to find an approved scanner in your area.
