Breakfast time for the sanctuary herd at the round tables!
It's been a long and very hard week of work! But 228 metres of wood, 346 screws, 12.5L of paint, 110 square metres of mesh, 6000 staples, 6 spinters and 10 plasters to cover blisters later... we have all panels completed and ready to install! Just another 128 screws, 48 hinges and 24 locks to go ๐
Another long and hard few days ahead to move around and assemble these pens. Our heart, soul, blood, sweat but thankfully no tears have gone into this big project. We're so excited to share th finished results in a few days
Topaz showing off how happy she is with her shelves! We love having the camera to see who's getting use to the ramp in their new sanctuary piggy shed.
Thank you to Allure Bath Fashions for the very kind donation of the bath mats for their shelves
Beautiful Bacon update!
Little piggie Bacon suffered with sudden paralysis of his hind legs Monday 22nd April. Read his full story here: https://gofund.me/99f37591 .
We are delighted to say that he has regained use of his legs and is enjoying wandering around again! He is still quite weak and can only go a minute or two before needing a rest but we're over the moon with his progress. Little Bacon is a fighter and has taken every step of the way in his stride. There's still some way to go getting his muscle tone back but we know that Bacon is stronger than his demons and we are hopeful for a full recovery over time.
If you are able to donate towards Bacons medical costs please follow our gofund me link. Thank you for everyone's support and get well wishes throughout ๐

Our main herd of guineas enjoying their newly cleaned pen. Lots of happy piggies all round ๐
It's been one week since the group of 35 guinea pigs arrived at SARC! They've settled in very well and are living a life of luxury with all their gifts from very kind people. Today they all got their new names to help make a start on their new life. Little star of the show in this video is Lorelei, she's very sweet and loves to be nosy! We also have: Torti, Sophia, Lyla, Olive, Evie, Elsie, Freya, Olivia, Eden, Gretta, May, Rosie, Willow, Maisie, Caramel, Bonnie, Thea, Imogen, Zara, Grace, Harper, Maeve and Eliza in the girl herd. The boys are: Oliver, Robin, Thomas, Stuart Little, Stuart Big, Phantom, Jack, Jamie, Owen, Blake and Connor.
It has been an amazing week full of support from people around the UK we could never have predicted how far these Little piggies story would go when we posted last week. In that time we have hit 4k @followers, raised over ยฃ2,000, had our first BBC article published and are have been receiving a bag full of amazon gifts everyday. We are so grateful for everyone's support and pure kindness. Lorelei and her friends are blissfully unaware of how viral they have gone but are definitely enjoying the goodies that come alongside it
Sweetie pie Ellie having some love and snacks. This little sanctuary is one of our older females at around 7 years old. She's very affectionate towards her hoomans and knows they'll always bring her treatos
(Excuse George the parrot in the background, he likes to make conversation)
๐Little Pip made her final journey today over the rainbow bridge ๐๐
Many of you may of followed Pips story earlier in the year after an abscess behind her eye called for it to be removed. Sadly her recovery did not go as hoped and the abscess continued despite all the flushing and antibiotics we could do. A couple of months ago it was discovered that the infection had actually entered the bone in her skull and so without a CT scan investigation and invasive high risk referral surgery it would not be possible to resolve. As Pip is an older bun and only just survived the last anaesthetic it was decided that palliative care was in her best interests. Her foster mumma Jess has been giving her 10/5 star treatment and lots of love with the knowledge that a hard decision would need to be made when Pips condition deteriorated. We had no idea if it would be a few weeks or a few months so everyday counted for this special little fighter.
After doing so well and her infection being kept at bay over the past few weeks it has become difficult to manage again and Pips behaviour has changed showing us shes not as happy. The final decision was made and she's been enjoying her last week with extra extra veggies and treats.
She made her final journey to the vets today and went peacefully to the other side. We know we did everything possible to save this little girl and hope that despite everything she had the best life with us over the years. Pip will be binkying to join her friends who she has lost in her life including her sister Squeak, husbun Max and her beloved Caine who she lost not very long ago also to an eye complication ๐ฅ.
We will all miss Pips sassy personality, resilience and ability to continually poop in protest while having her daily treatments. She was a stubborn little madam and will always be remembered by us โฅ๏ธ

ODIN
Update on beautiful Odin for you all. He is doing really well and is still slowly coming round to us. He loves to play and take treats from us and putting on weight really nicely. He is free roam now an loves his scratching post but hasn't braved the top of it yet. He has gained just over 1kg! Odin is a really sweet but shy boy. He still needs to gain some weight and some confidence but hes a completely different cat to the terrified skinny horror sight we picked up over a month ago. We couldnt of got him to this point without all your help, donations and kind words ๐
