*EDIT, ROMAN SADLY LOST HIS BATTLE THIS MORNING. OUR HEARTS GO OUT TO HIS DAD'S WHO ARE UNDERSTANDABLY DEVASTATED. PLEASE IF YOUR DOGS SHOW ANY SIGNS OF THIS, GET THEM STRAIGHT TO THE VET 😢😢💔*

A week ago, another rescue made us aware of a nasty bug some of their dogs had and sadly 2 had passed away from it. Mid last week one of our foster homes messaged saying how poorly their own dog seemed. When they said the symptoms of being sick, diarrhoea and lots of blood being passed, it sounded so similar to the others that had passed away.
They got their little one straight to the vets who immediately admitted him and got him on a drip. Exactly the same symptoms but opposite ends of the country.
Poor little Roman has been in the vets ever since fighting this nasty bug, whatever it is. His bloods are looking a little better but still no eating, he's also not tolerating the feeding tube very well. Please everyone keep Roman in your thoughts that he can fight whatever this is and get home to his loving dad's.
Tummy bugs can be quite common, a little bit of sickness and diarrhoea is normally not too much to worry about, however if your dog starts passing blood, please get them to the nearest vets as soon as you can. A lot of dogs aren't able to fight this themselves.
A huge shout out Animal Trust Veterinary Surgery Bolton who are taking amazing care of him ❤️

We are devastated by the UK government’s recent U-turn on its plans to phase out the badger cull. With proposals to exterminate the vast majority of some local populations across much of south-west and central England, this harmful decision has come at a time when so much of our wildlife is already facing serious decline.

The cull, which has historically failed to get support from prominent scientists, has already caused some badger populations to go locally extinct, with no reputable evidence of reduced bovine TB in cattle. With an estimated 210,000 badgers already killed using methods opposed by the British Veterinary Association, this senseless targeting will now look to wipe out 100 percent of populations in “cluster” hot spots of the disease.

Badgers play important roles in the landscapes that they inhabit, including shaping species diversity in woodlands, providing shelter for other animals with their extensive setts, supporting plant communities and carrying out effective seed dispersal. If we remove them from their environment, it won’t just be badgers that suffer.

What can you do?
🦡 Sign the Petition to via the Badger Trust
🦡 Join a badger group to help protect local populations
🦡 Learn more about badgers to help educate wider communities

We stand in solidarity with fellow organisations dedicated to safeguarding and preserving our badger population, striving to combat this attack on nature.
