UPDATE 23rd August 2024
Further to our last update we are very disappointed to report that our planning applications and consultation with Oldham Council has not yielded the planning approval we hoped for. Consequently, we will be selling the land and are on the look out for another place to call home. If you know of anywhere suitable, a rural/semi-rural location with a few acres and a building f

ootprint of some sort, please get in touch with us. We have been looking at barns, commercial buildings and other potential sites which are not in greenbelt but have the potential for conversion to a kennel/cattery and somewhere to put a static home so our animal caregiver can live on site. We will be starting up a new campaign to raise the money we need for this project as it is likely to cost us considerably more than we paid for the land. We have now moved to our new site near Delph, however, we are not fully operational on the site yet as there is a lot to do. We will be serving various communities across the Delph, Oldham, Rochdale, Todmorden, Halifax, Calder Valley and Burnley areas. Our planning application has been rejected but we are in the process of re-submitting it with new reports and advice to Oldham Council. We are being very well supported by the Parish of Saddleworth and the local community. We have jobs to do so if you are interested in helping with rubbish removal, making good on the stable building, and other general DIY jobs then do get in touch. We still have dogs in foster so they require veterinary care but at present we cannot take any animals into our care as the animal housing has to be built out and the stables converted. We are still looking for foster carers though as there may be animals we can help in this way until we can complete the build out. Funding for the building will be via a grant application but we still need to raise a good proportion of the money ourselves, so if you fancy holding your own event to help us then get in touch. Flo is on home trial with her new forever family and settling in very well. She has a new, more mature friend to keep her company and children to play with plus a very large secure garden to play in.

** URGENT ** Updated advert for Oscar now we’ve had more of a 1-2-1 assessment of him in foster. He needs a foster placement by Thursday of this coming week (he’s in kennels at the minute as the previous fosterer has gone on holiday) or someone interested in adoption or foster with a view to adoption. He’s a nervous little chap in new circumstances who’s had a less than satisfactory home life prior to coming into our care. We’d love to find him a wonderful forever home where he could thrive and behave like he doesn’t have a care in the world.
We are based Rochdale / Todmorden area but will consider further afield for the right home.

PAWS in the Park, Heywood raised 373.72 for PAWS. It was great to have lots of visitors and some unusual dog breeds. Best in Show was Yogi the Leonburger with Reserve Martha, SBT, and young handler Sophie.
Thanks to Friends of Queens Park and to PAWS volunteers Sue Callum and Michele for organising. RAW Photography Manchester for sponsoring rosettes and Most Photogenic Class and Wagmore Pet Boutique for sponsoring goody bags and BIS & RBIS prizes.

She is quite nervous, not too keen on being handled but will allow you to stroke her on her own terms.

This is Timmy. He’s a very handsome male cat approximately one year old.
Unfortunately, he is very nervous and very quick on his feet, so Helen hasn’t been able to catch him since he was a kitten. He needs neutering and he’s got tape worms. Fingers crossed she’ll be able to catch him soon.

Here is a picture of Mrs Spot. She is two/three years old, black shorthair with a white spot on her chest. She is a friendly cat, but not to the extent of allowing you to pick her up. She will rub up against your legs especially if you've got food!

This is Spud. He’s approximately18 months old, and he’s long haired. He’s a friendly boy, he’ll always greet you (even if you are not bringing food!). He is part of a group of 4 siblings currently living in my studio. Helen describes them all as semi feral; they value their freedom, but they are used to being fed twice a day. All of them know how to use a cat litter.

With a little bit of patience, Helen thinks Spud could settle into life as a domestic cat, and this might be the best thing for him because he'll probably need regular grooming due to being long haired.

It is proving to be a bit difficult to take good pictures of them because they don’t sit still and pose nicely. However, Helen will send you more pictures when she can get pictures that do them justice.

Aw look at these guys now! Not too long ago, they were being hand reared and were totally helpless. Not any more! Our PAWS kitten carers have done a fantastic job.

Ticks ! A lot of people don’t know what a tick looks like when it has fed 🩸
Here is a picture of one we had in today.
If you see a tick on your dog the best thing to do is remove as soon as you see it. If you don’t feel comfortable doing this, we can do it for you.
Parasite control can be given to your pets, this can kill the ticks that we don’t find.

Luna - Young Husky female

** WE HAVE FOUND A FOSTER, THANK YOU. ** We are looking into a foster placement for Luna this week but this is temporary and we would love to find her a permanent home. Luna is a lovely young female Husky who needs to find a new home, through no fault of her own. She is 1½ years old and does need to be neutered. She is fully vaccinated and has been regularly flea/tick and worm treated. Luna is a very clever girl and is bored as unfortunately she is being left for very long periods on her own. She is not getting the exercise or stimulation she needs so is frustrated and bored. Luna sleeps in an open crate at night and knows when to go to bed. She knows quite a few commands and loves to play with her ball. She will fetch and retrieve it for you and is gentle with her mouth. Luna gets on well with other dogs and people. She is the most stunning girl and very loving. Luna could live with another male dog and would enjoy playing with them. She could also live with children aged 8/9 or older. She can jump up but is easily directed to a more positive greeting with the right motivation (food). We are looking for an urgent foster home for Luna (or adoption). Subject to home check and adoption donation of £250. (PAWS will cover the neuter cost).
