🚫 A MUST is muzzle training, socialising, leash walking & obedience....it's time to brush up and perfect these skills for the safety of your pet. Prepare yourself in plenty of time for the upcoming restrictions that will be placed on owners by the end of the year.

I'm saddened to see the amount of people out in Dunoon in this midday heat walking their French bulldogs and fluffy dogs, let alone ANY dog in this heat. ⚠️ Get them home and onto a cool mat! Some people 🤦‍♀️

Please take extra precautions to avoid heat stroke as it can happen so quickly....
We can use cool mats and cooling collars,
Always carry extra water & drinking bowl, 💧
avoid midday walks and stick to mornings & night. 🌙

If your dog is suffering or you think they might be suffering heat stroke do the following...
Cool the paws & underarms/belly with a damp cool towel, give water & call a VET. 🚫

Walks are still subject to change or cancellation at short notice to avoid the hottest times as my air conditioned van is out of action. There won't be a any charges for any cancellations due to hot weather.

Stay safe and enjoy the sun pooches 🌞 🐕

ARE YOU WORTH COMING BACK TO?

There are many reasons why dogs don’t come back when you want them to. A dog’s genetics play a big role in this when an environment is far more stimulating and exciting and listening and coming back to you disappear into the background as genetic instinct takes over.

An exciting scent or seeing something to chase can all override a response to you.

Genetics aside, a common reason why dogs don’t come back when called is because it’s not a positive experience for them.

I often cringe when I watch owners trying to get their dogs to come to them when they call.
They call and call and get increasingly angry and frustrated as their dog keeps ignoring them.

When their dog eventually does come back, or has been chased and "captured” by their owner, they get screamed at, yanked about, smacked or punished in some way for taking so long and not listening. Why would a dog want to return to someone who does this to them!

Make coming back to you worth it by always making it a rewarding experience.

Have a little patience if it takes longer than you would like, let your dog finish what they’re doing before calling them, practice in different locations and environments and never reprimand or punish them for coming back.

There is never a guarantee of a perfect recall each and every time, but making it rewarding will greatly improve the rate of success.

New Compulsory Cat Microchipping announcement 🐈🐈‍⬛

Microchipping for cats becomes compulsory 🐈🐈‍⬛

Parliament today have introduced mandatory cat microchipping legislation 🐈🐈‍⬛

Owners have until 10 June 2024 to microchip their cat 🐈🐈‍⬛

It will not be compulsory to microchip free living cats that live with little or no human interaction or dependency, such as farm, feral or community cats. 🐈🐈‍⬛

Nice big box of dried mixed sausage chunks just arrived for the furry clients walkies. With some new briar roots for our own doggos. These don't splinter and are amazing for the power chewers. They are a sure favourite here rubbed in salmon oil or pate all into the nooks and crannies! 🐾🦮
