Are you a friendly person who loves interacting with dogs and their owners?
An opportunity has arisen to join our experienced canine hydrotherapy team at The Renew Centre. We are a referral vets and canine rehabilitation centre based in Uley, Gloucestershire, surrounded by beautiful farm land.
23 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, including some evenings. No weekends or Bank Holidays.
The role will involve aiding our hydrotherapists with the day to day running of the underwater treadmill, water testing and adding chemicals, helping with reception, taking payments, cleaning of the centre, and of course meeting and working with lots of lovely dogs! You may on occasion be asked to assist with the vets and other therapists. Full training will be given.
This is an active role, involving lots of bending and working on your feet.
Experience handling dogs and a basic knowledge of dog behaviour is beneficial.

What a few days!! Set up on Weds afternoon at European Open Agility Champs, vetting in with the team on Thursdaysorting paperwork for travelling dogs all day yesterday, and then manning the stand for the weekend!

Ensure your dog remains happy and healthy during the summer months by following these crucial safety guidelines:
Maintain Hydration: Provide fresh water consistently to keep your dog well-hydrated.
Protect Their Paws: Hot pavement can cause burns. Opt for walks during Apply Sunscreen: Dogs can get sunburned too. Use pet-safe sunscreen on exposed areas.
NEVER Leave in a Car: Temperatures inside vehicles can rise rapidly and become fatal. Never leave your dog unattended in a car.

Planning a trip with your dog?
Ensure a safe and enjoyable journey with these essential travel safety tips:
ID & Microchip: Make sure your dog has a collar with an ID tag and is microchipped with up-to-date information.
Vet Check: Schedule a visit before your trip. Ensure your dog is healthy, has the correct medication and has current vaccinations if needed.
Safe Travel: Ensure your dog is safe and secure when travelling in the car. Just like people, they can get badly hurt if the car suddenly brakes and they aren't restrained. Loose pets can cause distractions or even accidents, and it’s also against the law. Your dog should be safely restrained in a crate, behind a dog guard, or with a harness attached to a seat belt.
Hydration & Snacks: Keep your dog hydrated and bring along their favourite snacks. Avoid feeding them right before travel to prevent motion sickness.
Frequent Breaks: If you’re driving, take breaks every 2-3 hours for toilet breaks and stretch time.
Never Leave in Car Alone: Cars can heat up quickly, even with the windows cracked. Never leave your dog unattended in a vehicle for any length of time.

Ensure your dog's safety around water with these essential tips:

Dehydration occurs when the body expels more fluid than it consumes. All mammals, from humans to dogs, require adequate water intake to ensure their bodies function correctly.
Though many people understand that proper nutrition is crucial for physical and mental well-being (in both humans and pets), the significance of water is often underestimated.
Water plays a key role in lubricating joints, supporting internal organs, and regulating body temperature. It also facilitates digestion and helps cells absorb nutrients.
It's common for dogs to experience fluctuations in their body water levels throughout the day. Activities such as panting, breathing, urination, defecation, and evaporation through the paws cause water loss, which dogs replenish by eating and drinking.
But it is also important to know the signs of dehydration and know when to act on them. Always call your vet as soon as possible if you have any concerns about dehydration.

🔐 Not only do microchips provide reassurance and peace of mind should your dog go missing, but it is also compulsory in England, Wales and Scotland that all dogs must be microchipped after eight weeks of age. Keeping their details updated on the database where you are registered is just as important. So here is your friendly reminder, if you have recently moved house, please take five minutes to update these details and continue that peace of mind.

👋 Meet Anna our Clinical Manager here at The Renew Centre. Anna has over 25 years of experience in veterinary practice, she qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2007, which fulfilled her childhood dream. Passionate about #dogrehabilitation, she has been heavily involved in regenerative therapies such as Stem Cell, Platelet Rich Plasma therapy, and a range of other rehabilitation therapies. In her spare time, Anna loves spending time with her family and her own dog; Jessica. She finds herself, most weekends, either standing on the side lines of a football pitch, beside a go-kart track or soaking up the sun watching her boys play cricket. 👋 Meet Rachel D, one of our Hydrotherapist team and a qualified Veterinary Nurse Rachel qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 1992 (Langford, Bristol) and worked for many years in mixed practice. Following on from this she was part of a referral practice working with soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeons and developing an interest in rehabilitation. After a sojourn in New Zealand Rachel returned to the UK and started work at Pet Rehab in Uley. In 2015 she qualified as a hydrotherapist (Greyfriars Rehabilitation and Hydrotherapy Centre, Guildford) and completed her Advanced Underwater Treadmill course at the same training facility.
