We are loving our new microscope - we can capture the images digitally for your viewing pleasure! Just in case you were wondering, on a peaceful Sunday evening, what demodex mites look like, we have one for you! The signs of a demodex infection are hair loss, crusting or scaling of the skin, especially around the eyes, mouth and paws, and sometimes red lumps (papules), pimples (pustules) and deep draining sores. It is sometimes known as red mange. Some dogs become very itchy and others are not itchy at all. The mites live in or near hair follicles and usually the immune system keep them in check.
Nice, huh?
