Bobby, one of our adopted Amazon Parrots, has a wicked sense of humour! His favourite thing to do is bite certain keepers - shout ‘OW’ - then laugh manically! With other keepers he sits on their shoulder and sings to them! 🤔 🦜😂
Satisfying pressure washing video after yesterday’s playpark post! 😂
Don’t worry…Animal pictures will be back tomorrow!
☀️ Sun’s out and so are the tortoises! 🐢
❄️ 🌳 🪵 Some jobs are more satisfying than others!
We are always busy even in last weeks snow! The willow tunnel needs regular trimming, this isn’t a problem as nothing goes to waste!
* Willow ‘whips’ replanted where we want new trees
* Smaller branches given to paddock animals for browse
* Larger branches saved for perches in aviaries
* Enrichment for parrots and other animals who love stripping the leaves/bark
* Everything else is chipped and the chippings used in various enclosures and gardens. (Which in turn rots down and adds the nutrients back to the soil!)
Sorry for the lack of posts but this video sums up the last few months…it’s wet out there!!!
Many will have seen first hand, or on the news, about all the flooded land. We are an outdoor attraction and have lots of very wet areas!
With us opening earlier than usual, on the 10th of February, we have decided to concentrate on the very boring job of drainage and path maintenance! Some of the planned jobs will be delayed slightly but we have to ensure the park is accessible for reopening in just over 4 weeks!
See if you can spot the robin enjoying the worms.
After spending hours clearing floodwater the paths should be accessible!
We strongly recommend wellies!
🐆 Asian Leopard Cat ‘hide and seek’ 🫣
To keep Jango our ALC active and stimulated we hide his food in various places around his enclosure. This gets him using his keen sense of smell and great eyesight to find the food.
Like most felines, from your pet cat - to a lion he will happily curl up and go for a ‘cat nap’. Getting him climbing around and being more dynamic is great for his body condition too.
P.s. the food was hidden in the bush and he soon found it!
☀️🐢It’s great to have some sun again! 🐢☀️
Our tortoises agree and they have mainly been in their outdoor area the past few days! Though they have permeant access to heat and UV light inside if they wish.
☘️ All of the plants outside are edible to allow them to graze/browse the freshest leaves 🍃

Jake wants to know if it’s safe to come out yet?
🔊 Volume up!
⭐️ New Arrivals - Red-crested Turaco ⭐️
These stunning birds arrived a few weeks ago from the Bird Garden at Harewood House.
They were ‘off show’ in a quarantine aviary but are now out in our bird garden. Hopefully the video does their amazing colours justice!
We reopen on the 1st April - with only a month left we are working double speed to get things tidy and ready! 😆
2 months until we reopen…George can’t wait to meet you all from the 1st April!
George heard that it’s nearly Christmas and got very excited looking for his present 🎁 🎄
The lemurs love their tunnels and treehouse! It was designed and built east facing to catch the morning sun. They are often out there sunbathing and browsing on the willow leaves.
The Budgies always brighten our day! Active, colourful and chirping all day long.
Luckily we have some help clearing up the hedge clippings 😀 🦙 🐑 🌳
