Great day out at OMAGH Show yesterday. We had 34 entries overall and had 30 exhibits which were placed first to third.

Our waterfowl performed really well with a White Runner Drake picking up Best Light Duck, Champion Waterfowl and Second Reserve Show Champion.

Matthew also won Champion Juvenile Large Soft Feather with a Black Silkie Pullet.

Well done to Ryan McLaren on another successful and well run show ably assisted by poultry stewards Samuel Hawkes, Conor McClelland & Stephen Neill.

Thanks also to the judges Graham Hicks and Phil Parfitt who made the trip to assess the various poultry classes.

Finally congratulations to all the other winners on the day especially Alannah Adams on winning show champion.

So after weeks of planning and some fairly intense preparations we held our first ever poultry auction yesterday at Beattie’s Pedigree Centre OMAGH.

As a family we were quite overwhelmed by the scale of the turnout with a packed seating area and ringside with customers from right across Ireland as well as mainland Great Britain in attendance.

Over the past number of weeks considerable time had been put into making sure the birds were in top form and looking their very best ahead of the auction so we were absolutely thrilled by the level of interest in our poultry and waterfowl as well as the hatching eggs and poultry coops on offer.

I would like to thank all the purchasers some of whom travelled considerable distances in order to attend and also the many within the poultry fancy who came along to simply offer their support to the event or shared my Facebook posts your assistance was noted and appreciated.

I would also like to extend my gratitude to Richard Beattie and his team of staff for conducting the auction and for access to their fantastic facilities.

Finally a very special mention to all those who assisted with the transportation and er****on of the tables & cages. Everyone that assisted with the unloading and penning of the birds as well as the feeding, checking and watering over the course of the day. We simply could not have managed without you.

🐓 🌟 Poultry Auction Tomorrow 🐓 🌟

Final call for shares to advertise our auction which is being held tomorrow at Beattie’s Pedigree Centre, 109 Glenpark Road OMAGH.

The Catalogue can be downloaded from my website www.Cloghervalleypoultry.com with hard copy catalogues available at the auction.

Please note the auction starts at midday on the 24 February and as we are hopeful of good turnout it’s advisable to come early for ease of parking, to complete registration for bidding on the day and most importantly to view the various lots available in the auction.

For those interested in purchasing poultry it would be helpful if you bring your own cardboard boxes or poultry carriers to assist with safe transport of the birds after the sale.

For those not travelling to the sale but intending to bid online you must visit Beattie’s Livestock Sales on MartEye and select Clogher Valley Eggs and Poultry Auction to register to bid. Beattie’s staff will consider and approve this request in the days ahead of the auction. As a reminder anyone purchasing online can contact Jer O Callaghan to arrange poultry transportation after the sale.

I have added some photos of the venue fully set up with the tiered seating is particularly impressive. There will be hot food available on the day of the sale as well as a coffee cart.

Finally can I sincerely thank everyone who has offered their public and private support to us as a family in the run up to the auction and especially to those who have assist with the set up of the venue and organising on the day. We are hopeful for a successful event and a positive experience for everyone.

We have a very busy week ahead getting the poultry pens in place at the venue as well as preparation and transportation of all the birds to the venue. It’s my intention to upload photos of batches of birds and as many lots as possible over the course of this week to showcase the stock available.

We are delighted to announce that we will be holding our first ever poultry auction @ Beattie’s Pedigree Centre, OMAGH on Saturday 24 February @ 12 Noon.

🪺 🥚 🐓 New shed washed out and ready for a delivery of brown and coloured hybrids this week. This was a conversation of an old silo pit built by my late father and two older brothers 30 years ago. The original walls have been retained with a new concrete floor and waste water drains installed. The new portal frame with non drip roof sheeting was erected on the outer sides of the walls to promote natural air ventilation but we also plan to install an additional air ventilation fan in the ridge of the roof in the coming weeks as well as automatic roll away nest boxes. It’s sub divided into pens as this shed is used for display of sale birds. It has automatic water drinkers with galvanised perches which can sit flat against the walls during clean out. It’s also fitted with automatic LED dimmer lights to support optimum lighting for the birds as they adjust to the new environment. 🐔 Really pleased how this conversation is finally coming together but it won’t be complete until the birds arrive.
