Had a little GWP fix at BU at the weekend 🥰, it’s got me remembering why I fell in love with this breed almost 21 years ago 😱. Although Helga never made the dizzy heights in the show ring she was my heart dog.
Her sister Heidi never enjoyed showing and preferred to be off somewhere on a deer scent! It’s taken us about 6 years to come to terms with losing our last girl Heidi and I still get emotional thinking about them 💔

Surprise!!
We had intended having a longer hiatus from breeding but fate intervened and 3 weeks ago Betsy had a lovely litter to Augie. Weaning has commenced just as the sleep deprivation is lessening. Enquiries welcomed.

With a heavy heart and due to continuing illness, I have decided to reduce the number of dogs I keep, in order to improve my health 🤞.

I will continue breeding but I do need a break, raising last years litters brought on stress & illness, it takes it’s toll!

We will have some youngsters/adults 👀 🏡 once I have evaluated who needs to be kept for the future generation.

In the meantime, happy Beagling!

Information on quarterly flea,tick & monthly wormer.
Some may think I’m scaremongering by putting this information into my puppy packs, PLEASE read them and take a copy to the vet with your new puppy/dog.
I feel owners aren’t being informed at the vets of the risk of these medications given . There are medications with less risk of neurological side effects.

Pending viewing….We have a wonderful girl almost 2yrs, looking for a new 🏡
She’s very loving, but hasn’t adapted to living in the kennels with the pack since her sibling left for their new 🏡 . She much prefers living indoors with free access to the garden. Will be spayed before leaving us.

Happy 16th Vinnie! My one in a million,
My first Champion, my best friend. He’s never been the easiest to live with, he’s demanding, the ultimate drama queen…..but the best ones always are! He always gave me 110% except that one time he decided he would try and win a CC laying on his back …..didn’t gain his crown that day! Love you Champion K***head! xXx

Couple weeks worth of show results.
Aggie (Detrick Firefly over Divinebrae) wins Veteran bitch at East of England under Tim Jones qualifying her for Veteran of the year. Divinebrae Mickey Finn is 3rd in MPD at his second show.
This week Aggie gains a respectable 2nd in Veteran this week at Houndshow. Star of the day was Divinebrae Mickey Finn winning MPD under Lorna Binks & he showed like a little pro in the challenge with the big boys! Photos courtesy of S&S Productions from East of England.

Thinking of breeding?
Jane Dean's advice is to have a practice first...

Put about £4000 on a bonfire (to cover cost of stud fee, setting up for whelping, vets fees)
Stay awake for 48 hours watching your girl with only a few minutes to pop to the loo and make coffee.
Worry about her dying and losing any puppies. Drive to the emergency vets in the early hours of the morning.
Set your alarm for every two hours and stay awake for one hour for at least two weeks to make sure puppies are feeding or to bottle feed any weaklings.
Stay at home for eight weeks with only trips out food shopping, worry when you’re out that puppies are killing themselves or you’re being burgled.
Make a list of people who desperately and definitely want a puppy more than anything else. Write letters and emails, spend hours on the phone only for 90% of them to ignore all contact because they don’t even have the courtesy to reply and let you know they changed their minds/ bought elsewhere/ circumstances changed...
Take regular trips to vets to have crying puppies checked out, emergency operations etc. Cry for a few hours to practice in case one dies or needs to be PTS
Leave a few piles of dog poo in your living room overnight and set a tape recording of a flock of seagulls to go off at 5:30-6am each morning for five weeks to get used to the smell and sound of waking up to a litter of hungry puppies.
Write off every weekend for two months so that new owners can visit their puppies as they grow.
Apologise several times a day for your house being in a s**t state.
Block up your washing machine filter with vet fleece fluff and dog hair on a regular basis just when your kids need something washing urgently.
Be prepared to answer the phone at any time to give advice, answer any questions and possibly take a puppy/dog back if a new owner needs help. You are entering a relationship that will hopefully last 15 years or so.
Sit and cry for a few days when you find that a litter that was carefully planned for years has several puppies with a genetic fault (that you have no idea where it came from because some breeder way back has kept that nugget of information secret) and the puppy (or two) you were planning to keep to show and breed on from will be sold to a pet home and you need to draw a line under years of breeding to start again.

Of course, there is a chance it will all be plain sailing, there are rewards, puppy cuddles, the joy of spending hours playing with them and meeting people you stay friends with for life.
