End of an era - for me at least.

Thank you to everyone who became my regulars over the last 14 years. It’s been very telling since I announced the closing of the cattery who did actually appreciate me and my family - and those I thank.

Anyway - thank you 🙏 to those who became friends and not just clients.

Well - the announcement I said I would make I feel I should come clean - now.
Some of you know this already as I’ve seen some of you after I made the decision. I think a lot of you have known that last year although passable wasn’t exactly to pre-pandemic numbers but as I’d paid and gone through licensing again I was licensed for another 3 years and therefore thought I’d give it another year. I’ve given it another year and it’s just not working for me. I’ve therefore had to come to the hard decision to close. I’m gutted 😞
I’ve given it my all but the person posting all over Gainsborough that I was already shut didn’t help me or being slagged off at another cattery who’s probably now going to benefit - but it is what it is.
Gainsborough doesn’t want a 5 star rated cattery it seems - so even though I didn’t change my rates again even though everything else went through the roof it didn’t bring in the business I wanted.
So thank you 🙏 to those that have always supported me. I’m open until the end of October and honouring all existing bookings but I’m not taking any further bookings for October. Thank you for the laughs and friendship over the years. Auntie Liz 🐾

14 years since I set up my little cattery. It’s been one heck of a ride and had so many good times and a few bad ones too. I thank those of you who’ve supported me through thick and through thin - you know who you are.

On top of that I’ve had peeps shouting all over Gainsborough that I’m shut - helpful (not) and I’ve been told a local cattery is also slagging me off now too. I don’t resort to those kind of tactics and if people support that then more fool them and they’re certainly not people I want in my life.

We’ve always tried our best. The cats have always come first and the cuddles have always come free. We’ve rehomed dozens of dumped cats, helped homeless folks and generally tried to be good folk.

I will be making an announcement soon as to what we will be doing for 2024.

The cattery has been undergoing an overhaul these past few weeks including a new office roof and we still have a few more bits to do but it will look as good as new by the time it’s finished. We would like to wish our clients - furry and non furry a very Happy Christmas and good wishes for the New Year. The cattery has been undergoing some sprucing up so it will look brand new for 2023. We are closed over the festive period but are open again from the 3rd January onwards and are taking bookings for 2023. Thank you 🙏 and Meowy Christmas!!

For those originally picking up and the one dropping off on the 19th which is now a Bank Holiday due to HM Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral please note:

Although we are normally closed on Bank Holidays - because we have so many pick ups booked in for that day we will open between 9-10am and 5-6pm only that day. These times are rigid and not up for negotiation so please respect these as we wish to pay our respects.

We will also place a notice on the cattery door but if peeps arrive outside of those times then we will not answer so we’re just letting peeps know so there’s no confusion.

With the hot weather upon us we want to reassure our clients that we have taken precautions and the cats all have their own individual fans inside their chalets and pedestal fans in the corridor. We also have cooling mats at the ready. We will be monitoring them very carefully, ensuring they keep hydrated at this crucial time. Thank you 🙏

Still alive after my op to reconstruct my ankle lol 😂 and the Cattery is in the capable hands of my daughter, Keeley for the next few weeks while I recover. If you’d said that this would be still going on after a year - I’d have laughed. Anyway - you can still contact me either on my mobile or messenger if you need any dates etc. We are STILL open contrary to the person who posted up on Connecting Gainsborough that we weren’t. Thank you 🙏 waiting for your lovely bookings and hope to see you all when my bionic leg is healed ….

UPDATE:

Ruby has been found safe and well.

Missing from Lea at 4pm this afternoon. The cat carrier bottom fell apart and the cat disappeared up the lane heading towards Foxby Hill area. Answers to Ruby and has distinctive markings on her face. Very timid in nature so please approach carefully. Please let me know if you have any sightings. Thank you.

Good Morning Peeps

I just wanted to address a couple of things that I’ve found out about recently.

1. Lea Wood Cattery is OPEN. Apparently someone on Connecting Gainsborough mentioned I wasn’t. I am and welcome business. I also welcome viewings and questions to ensure your cats stay is comfortable.

2. I am closing. Again plastered all over Connecting Gainsborough. That was indeed the intention at the end of October this year due to two iffy years of business. I am however, having to renew my license as my 3 years gratis for being a 5 star cattery is up for renewal so I am reviewing this. But until I say I am closed and put it up on here for the world to see I am open.

3. My rates are “expensive.” Again plastered on Connecting Gainsborough by someone who has not used me since 2010 - I have not put up my rates for over 4 years despite rising costs. I can definitely do it for cheaper if I switch off heating, buy own brand food and use inferior products but I feel my rates are competitive for the service provided as I abide by Defra and local licensing rules and regulations. When I started 13 years ago my single cat rate was £6.50 - it is £9 now. That’s a £2.50 increase in 13 years 🤷‍♀️ Nothing is getting cheaper so if someone says they can do it for cheaper they are cutting costs elsewhere.

Good Morning!

Looking for someone who either wants some animal care experience to add to their portfolio or someone who is working towards a qualification. Must have minimum Level 2 Btec in Animal Care or be working towards that. Needs to be reliable and to be able to work under own initiative. Needs to be available at least 3 weekdays and weekends (not every weekend though).

Ideal candidate needs to be able to greet customers and deal with payments too. Good with both cats and dogs as may be required to assist on the dog daycare side too.

Morning Peeps - hope everyone is keeping well. With the lifting of restrictions today - I would like to clarify where we are with peeps dropping off and picking up. We are still asking peeps where possible to make appointments so that social distancing can be maintained. Also we will allow peeps to view via the courtyard where you can still see clearly into the cattery - but we will not be allowing peeps into the cattery at this time. This may not be popular with some peeps but it is what we feel comfortable with and with cases still rising we feel that it is not a good idea as yet. You are welcome to wear or not wear masks - we will be continuing to wear ours. We will review on a week by week basis but you can see just as much from the courtyard so we feel that this should not be a major issue. Thank you 🙏

Just an update to let you know that Aunty Liz ended up doing this ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ on Monday and has done a wonderful number on her ankle which is going to take at least 5 weeks to heal. In the meantime services are still running as normal but you will have Ian (hubby) and Keeley (daughter) seeing to things. 12 years - where’s that gone? Well we started in a year of austerity and survived last year when many other businesses have sadly not survived. Hoping that this year the Cattery can get back to some normality ❤️
