I would like to thank you all for your kind messages, cards and flowers following my husband Paul's passing. I and Paul's family were extremely touched by the wonderful turnout for him yesterday. It's been a great comfort to know just how much you cared. Many people have asked how to donate to the respective charities, St John's Hospice, The Injured Jockey's Fund and World Horse Welfare, this can be done by sending a cheque to the funeral directors: C T Hull, 2 Birch Way, Poulton-le-Fylde FY6 7SF.

Paul's funeral is to be held at noon on Tuesday 25th June at Preston Crematorium and afterwards at Barton Manor. We would like to celebrate Paul's life and therefore none of his family and close friends will be wearing black but if you feel it is more appropriate then feel free to do so. Only family flowers but donations to St John's Hospice, The Injured Jockeys Fund or World Horse Welfare would be much appreciated.

It's with a very heavy heart that I write this post. My husband Paul Clarkson sadly passed away in the early hours of this morning, following a few months suffering from cancer.
Paul was well known as raceday presenter at many Northern tracks until he retired 5 years ago to concentrate on the continuing growth of Lancashire Racing Stables.
In due course we will advise all friends and followers of the funeral arrangements

A fabulous win with Clatterbridge last night at Uttoxeter in his first run in a handicap hurdle. He stayed every inch of the 3 mile contest and his jockey Luke Scott said he has an exciting future particularly when he goes over fences. A massive thank you to Oakhill Vet Rosie who performed surgery on him last year and to our physio Tracy Pain. It was a much deserved victory for his patient owners Keith Dodd, Howard Anderson, Martin Prince and Neil Biggs.
Well done to all at LRS & plenty to look forward to in the months' ahead!

Sir Benedict (George Rooke) continued our excellent start to the year with a smooth length success in a competitive 50-70 5 furlong handicap at Southwell this afternoon. In doing so he was following up his C & D victory of 14 days ago. The son of Dandy Man is a real pleasure to be involved with & he deserves these two wins after MANY luckless runs in the last couple of seasons. Absolutely delighted for his owners Craig & Chris from Village Racing. Let's party!!

How is your week going? Had many winners at Cheltenham? Despite the weather we are ticking along nicely - 3 runners this week & THREE WINNERS. Sir Benedict (Shane Gray) maintained our 100% record with a battling success in the 5 furlong handicap at the end of a 9 race marathon card at Southwell last night under the lights. Three motorways closed on the way home but who cares!!

Basholo (Alex Jary) & Bossy Parker (Callum Shepherd) gave us a fabulous double at Wolverhampton tonight after a frustrating run of seconds. Well done to the whole team here at LRS & to the winning owners Tony Culhane Racing & The Good Racing Co (Basholo) & Tony & Bev Culhane (BP). That is 6 winners for the year plus numerous placings. If we have the right horses then as Callum Shepherd said on Sky Sports Racing tonight 'Tony, Stella & the Team are very very good at what they do!' Sleep well.

Lancashire Racing Stables, in association with Matt Watkinson Racing, are offering 100 x 1% shares in CAPTAIN CORCORAN, a seven-year-old bay gelding by Anjaal out of HMS Pinafore who has won 3 races (Navan, Catterick & Southwell) as well as finishing in the frame (2nd, 3rd or 4th) on 15 occasions from 44 starts. He is trained by STELLA BARCLAY at Lancashire Racing Stables near Garstang. Stella will retain any of the shares than are not taken up in him.

CC is a 5 furlong horse who is at his best on soft/heavy ground. He will not run when the going is on the quick side. He is fit & ready to run! The plan is to give him one run on the All Weather at either Southwell (14th March) or Newcastle (18th) before going onto the grass at Catterick on 3rd April. He is currently rated 45.

The cost of a 1% share is only £100. This is a fixed price with nothing else to pay under any circumstances! It covers the period up to 30th June, 2024. He will run in the name of Matt Watkinson Racing II, the colours of which are Dark Blue, Yellow seams, hooped sleeves, quartered cap.

From 1st July, you have two options – either to continue in the Syndicate & pay an additional one-off payment of £100 to cover the period up to the end of the Turf Season on 9th November or just give up your share.

Members will receive regular updates on CC via a dedicated What’s App group which will include regular videos of him exercising on the gallops. There will also be a stable visit in April which will enable you to see him at LRS. You will also be eligible for an Owners' Badge (subject to availability) when he runs & receive betting information on his chances of winning or being placed. You will also receive 1% of any Owners’ prize money won by CC after the deduction of the race entry fee & jockey’s riding fee.

Please note that there can be no guarantees where racehorses are concerned. If at any time during the period up to 30th June CC picks up an injury or in Stella’s opinion is not running well enough to win a race then she has the right to take him out of training & retire him from racing. IF CC DOES NOT RUN AT LEAST TWICE DURING THE PERIOD THEN MEMBERS OF THE SYNDICATE WILL RECEIVE A FULL REFUND! IN NO OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES WILL MEMBERS RECEIVE A REFUND.

Bossy Parker is a comfortable winner of the 7 furlong handicap at Wolverhampton this evening under a positive ride from Callum Shepherd. He started 4th favourite at 11/2 & continues our solid start to 2024. Off to Newcastle tomorrow night with Mighty Power (Callum Shepherd) & Sir Benedict (Shane Gray). Mighty Power under a great waiting ride from Callum Shepherd continued our excellent start to the year in a Class 4 6 furlong handicap at Newcastle tonight. Both Rubellite & Glorious Rio both ran well in defeat & we are really pleased for MP's owner Paul Bamford enjoying his first winner with LRS. Back to Gosforth Park tomorrow afternoon with another 3 horses who should all run well.

Basholo (Zak Wheatley) gave us our 2nd winner of 2024 in the 5 furlong Classified race at Wolverhampton this evening. Owned by Tony Culhane Racing & The Good Racing Co. the 5 year old daughter of Caravaggio was recording her 3rd success for LRS. There is no greater feeling than having a winner - we have shares available in a number of horses so why not give us a call & come on down!!

Lovely 15.3 hands 5 year old bay gelding for sale to a forever home. Ex- racehorse, only run a few times on the flat but too slow. Real Quiz has a wonderful temperament and is easy to do in every way. Good ride , has done plenty of flat work and pole work and is very willing. Rubellite (Callum Shepherd) was an easy 4 length winner at Wolverhampton tonight in the 9.4 furlong Classified Race. Our first runner of 2024 was a well supported 4/1 chance for 'naughty Stella Barclay' (Matt Chapman's words) & her top team. 5% & 10% shares are being offered for sale in MISS CALCULATION , a sound, genuine filly who is the winner of 3 races (Doncaster, Wolverhampton & Thirsk) over 6 & 7 furlongs as well as finishing in the frame on 11 occasions from 29 starts. She had a nice break in the Summer & would have won in another 50 yards when a fast finishing 4th (beaten 1.25 lengths) over 6 furlongs at Wolverhampton TONIGHT (having been last a furlong & a half out). She will continue to run on the All Weather before switching to the grass in the Spring.

LRS are looking for a Yard Person to join our team. The successful candidate will need to be a hard worker capable of general yard duties looking after a string of racehorses both on the Flat & over jumps. You will need to have had experience of handling horses, mucking out, grooming and general yard duties. This is not glamorous work but essential to the smooth running of a racing yard. Carlos Felix (Brandon Wilkie) came from last to first in the final quarter of a mile to win the opening mile & a half handicap comfortably for owners Darren & Annaley Yates at Newcastle this afternoon on his first start for LRS. The Racing Post noted that 'Carlos Felix made a winning start for his new yard, keeping on strongly once striking the front to supplement March's Southwell win off a 5lb higher mark. Extremely consistent on AW, this was his first visit here and he appreciated the stiff finish'. This success gave us a 22nd winner in what has been an excellent year for Stella & her excellent team!

Our excellent season continues with DANZART (Oisin Murphy) bringing up the hat-trick with a smooth one & a half length success at Wolverhampton last night under 10 stone. Well done to his patient owners Carl Pye & Gary Prescott. That is 14 for the season & hopefully there are plenty more to come once we get some of that wet stuff!!

Glorious Rio bids for his 5th win in his last 6 starts when lining up for a 16 runner £25,000 Apprentice Handicap at Haydock Park on Sunday afternoon at 16.10 (live on ITV 4). He will be ridden by Jonny Peate. Good luck to all his owners - The Matt Watkinson Racing Club. Rio (near side) can be seen this morning on the gallops doing his final piece of work.

Yesterday's Open Morning for the Stella Barclay Racing Club proved to be a big success & the video below shows two of our horses being put through their paces on the gallops. The Club will be even bigger & better in Year 2 which starts on 8th November. For just a one-off payment of £60 you can have an interest in a string of racehorses - possibly as many as TEN depending on how many Members join.
