We delivered our first Canvas order today of the beautiful Coco 😍💓 The photo was taken at playcare as promised just last week before being tweaked and ready for display in a vertical frame instead of square. What a great one of a kind picture to have at home. 🐶 Remember and ask your woof wagon driver if these canvas prints take your fancy.

🐾🌞Summer heat update 🌞🐾

Despite the fog in Edinburgh we have enjoyed a surprisingly warm sunny week at playcare 😎 FANTASTIC 😃. This has led to a couple of questions about how we keep the dogs cool in the summer. Hopefully this post answers any questions.👍

🐕 Hot weather at the field 🐕

Solutions in place include..
🐾 A constant supply of cold running water.
🐾 2 dog paddling pools 🤪 (for us too...).
🐾 Indoor areas left open at all times to provide shade, with an expansion canopy connecting to the vans to allow that sea breeze to pass under.
🐾 New canopy soon in the middle of the field providing shade.
🐾 Let's not forget the all important water guns 💦💦

🐕 Hot weather during transport in the van 🐕

🐾 We have 2 spinners on the roof of each van to constantly circulate the air (pictures below)
🐾 The bulkhead between the cab and dog area has been removed to allow extra cool air to flow in through our front windows, straight into the back of the van allowing warm air the exit the van through the spinner 🤩.
🐾 Our air conditioning can also be directed through the van directly to the dogs, helped along with our added fans.
🐾 Water is always carried with us and the vet bedding can be sprayed to help cool our gang members down 💦❤️.

It is worth noting that we very rarely at the field experience the high temperatures sometimes seen in Edinburgh, this is down to our location right along the north sea coast we regularly see a cool sea breeze 😀💦🐕.

We met with the Edinburgh Dog and Cat home this afternoon to hand over all our donations and the cheque with the incredible amount of funds raised from our customers, friends and family ❤️🐾
Great to meet the team that put in so much hard work to help all these animals still looking for that forever home 🐕❤️ What a privilege raising money for such a worthy cause 😃 Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home

We are all devastated to hear the very sad news of the sudden passing of Buddy last week 😢 he’s had an amazing life with his lovely family and our thoughts and love are with you all 💙

Evening everyone! 🐾🐾

We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone for getting behind us last month in raising money + items for the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home. What an amazing team of customers, friends and family we have. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you ❤️❤️❤️

As many of you already know. Active April has come to an end! The original goal was to walk 600 miles between Ali, Ian and Graham.

Here are the results from the walking 🤩

Graham - Target 300. Finished on 319 miles 🤪
Ali - Target 200, Finished on 208 miles ❤️
Ian - Target 100, Finished on 103 miles 🎉

We can now reveal we managed to raise a total amount of.... 🐾£2000!!!🐾 AMAZING 😀 This is well over what we had targeted ourselves for, this alongside the items in the pictures below will entirely go to the Edinburgh dog and cat home next week. We are absolutely delighted with this result, none of this was possible without the amazing generosity shown from everyone 🐕🐾. So once again from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU 😍

We can also confirm we will be arranging a group walk every year for everyone to say hello to your pups friends 😀

Why Harry’s Hounding Around?

Hi we are Alison and Ian Troke, we have both been in retail all of our working lives. We now have the opportunity to start our own business and as we have two dogs of our own, Dexter and Charlie, that we regularly entrusted to a dog playcare we decided that doing this ourselves was the obvious next step. We have trained, socialised and exercised our own dogs for over eight years. We have both attended dog first aid and dog handling courses and have both been through disclosure Scotland and are fully insured.

So why Harry’s Hounding Around? Harry was a black Labrador that we brought back to Edinburgh from Cardiff. Sadly Harry passed away at the age of two which broke our hearts and we miss him loads. We wanted Harry to a part of this venture so we named it after him.

Harry’s Hounding Around is in partnership with The Fast and Furriest Dog Playcare. Our Ethos is simple, fun, social, healthy and safe playcare for your favourite four legged friends.
