Kitty Jane It is this amazing woman's 50th birthday on Tuesday, and we've started the bday celebrations already! Nothing more than she deserves for being the absolute rock on which Penny's Place Corvid Sanctuary is built. She is the most compassionate, generous, passionate, bravest, and beautiful person ever, and I am inordinately proud of her. She would never ask, but I know that if anyone could make a donation to Penny's Place, or get us something from our amazon list, or some waxworms/mealworms that would make her ridiculously happy! Far happier than if she was given something for herself!

Handsome, sweet, little is not a fan of the jelly in dog/cat food. So, of course, every morning, I stand and dejellify several sachets of food for him to enjoy! Cos he is definitely worth it! The leftover jelly is then repurposed in the many trays of eggs that we make at the weekend for all the guys.

modelling her new kinky boots! She arrived into us as a non-flying fledgling, and was badly malnourished when she arrived, struggling with very brittle flight and tail feathers, and paper thin skin, which had led to her having numerous skin lesions. She was also heel shuffling rather than walking which led to further skin damage. She's now walking well on her toes, and has lots of new feathers coming through! She still needs her legs protecting due to several still healing sores, but is doing well atm! She arrived in 2 months ago at 293g, and today is 404g!

Hi everyone, we are extremely sorry to tell you this, but we are going to have to stop taking in birds for the foreseeable future. We are spending over £150 per week on food alone, a situation that has resulted in me having to go back to full time work, while my partner still works 75+ hours a week to support everyone. This has led to me having 18+ hour days, a situation we cannot maintain.
Added to this, an unnecessary and underhanded breach of trust, has made us extremely wary, to the detriment of the birds we are trying to help.
We are available for advice and support, but may not be able to get back to you immediately due to just being so busy. Please see our pinned post regarding our weekly shop, if you can help at all, our paypal is [email protected], and our amazon wishlist is https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/10GVPVDN18HSJ?ref_=wl_share

If anyone can spare old newspapers we would also be very grateful for them, and if there's anyone who could volunteer any time we would appreciate that more than we can say.
Apologies, again.

Things you never thought you'd do before running a sanctuary no. 1524252: preparing a packed lunch for 2 baby magpies and a baby crow!
We have 3 babies in at present, and who require regular feedings. Unfortunately, I recently lost my mother, and I'm having to clear her house while looking after the guys. So, they come with me - cos bird rehabilitation stops for nothing! And they give me an excuse to take a break every hour! Kitty Jane is having to do an overtime shift today - she's a hgv tramper, working away all week as it is - to help us cover the costs for them.
If you'd like to donate to their care, our paypal is [email protected]

We have had a ridiculously busy week. Our first nestling has arrived, and we have had 6 other birds arrive in the last 4 days. We are very much under the cosh with medications, food, money and time. It's only the start. We are in desperate need of live waxworms, live mealworms & wet cat/dog food. If anyone can help out at all our amazon wishlist is https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/10GVPVDN18HSJ?ref_=wl_share

Our weekly shop/feed! We spend somewhere in the region of £150 a week on food for the guys. It is a huge strain on our finances. They get eggs, dry and wet cat food, dry and wet dog food, live and dried mealworms, waxworms, raw dog foods, bread, vegetables, and anything that is on offer at the various supermarkets. The eggs get baked by the amazing with loads of good stuff added in, and then everything else gets put in freezer bags and frozen to make it easier for me during the week. This takes up much of our weekend, leaving us little time for anything else. Like relaxing, just as an example!!
We have taken in another 2 injured birds over the weekend, taking our total to over 80. If you can support in any way, our paypal is [email protected], and our amazon wishlist is:

A heartbreaking day at Penny's Place Corvid Sanctuary today. We lost our sweet . She arrived into us in February 2023, with what we thought was a head injury probably from a tumble. She was just the sweetest, calmest, most special bird. She loved just sitting on her swing in the magpie aviary, watching the world go by. This morning when I opened up the aviary, she was on the floor, all puffed up. I was concerned, and brought her inside to check her over. There was nothing obviously amiss, but she was a little cold, and very lethargic. I wrapped her up, held her, and stroked her head as she left us. 💔
Every loss that we endure is devastating. Your heart takes a huge hit, and while you try to console yourself with the thought that they were looked after, well fed and safe, it's still a massive blow to your heart. It's very hard to get over, especially losing such a special little bird like . We can only hope that she knew how much she was loved.

Kitty Jane Little having a wash and blow dry! She arrived into us last summer, having been rescued from cats who had already killed her siblings. She has severely deformed legs, and is not able to stand up on them for long. We keep them dressed so she's not standing in p**p all the time, and she happily flaps herself around the cage she shares with . She is a contented little soul who let's us know if we're late with either her morning bath or more importantly her wormies! If you'd like to help keep in the style to which she has become accustomed, or to help out any of our other birds, out r paypal is [email protected] And our amazon wishlist is https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/10GVPVDN18HSJ?ref_=wl_share

Kitty Jane
2 of our resident having a chilled perch on the swing!
arrived in with us late last summer from Stockport. She was completely bald when she arrived, but now has a full head of feathers! She's a great little character who loves her morning bath! also arrived late last summer from Oldham. He's a quiet little dude who likes to keep himself clean, and loves his seed! These 2 have been spotted feeding each other, so hopefully there's a nice bond happening! We're hopeful they may be able to be released later this year if they keep getting stronger. If you'd like to keep Paul and/or Kate fully sated with fresh seed by sponsoring them, or help out with any of our other birds, our paypal is [email protected], and our amazon wishlist is https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/10GVPVDN18HSJ?ref_=wl_share

having a preen after a little shower! She arrived to us last year as a 2 week old nestling. She is quite the character! She loves blueberries, is obsessed with dried mealworms, and tries to hog the bath when it's put in the aviary! She is very vocal, and frequently asks why I'm so slow getting food out to them every morning! If you'd like to help keep in blueberry heaven by sponsoring her, or help out any more of our birds, our paypal is: [email protected], and our amazon wishlist is https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/10GVPVDN18HSJ?ref_=wl_share

having his regular morning bath! He is completely blind, but the water bowl, the food bowl and the wormie bowl get put in the same place every day, and he locates them all without an issue! He is a very happy little man, who shares space with his roommate
Marvie loves his waxworms, and would be very excited to be a sponsor bird for somebody! Please contact us if you're interested in supporting Marvin's wormie habit!

We are a small, currently self funding Corvid Sanctuary based in Haydock. We specialise in the rehabilitation of injured corvids and the care of long term disabled corvids. We have around 75 birds currently, a mix of magpies, crows, rooks and jackdaws, and we will always do our best to rescue and help with any injured bird that comes our way, no matter how close to full we are!
We have a PayPal account: [email protected]
And an amazon wishlist: https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/10GVPVDN18HSJ?ref_=wl_share
We are always desperate for mealworms, both live and dried, and live waxworms, and dog and cat food, both dry and wet.
