You came to stay with your brother after Happy Tailz had just started all those years ago. You were both regulars and that's where my love for Fox Red Labradors started. You were such a gentle soul and an absolute delight to look after. Take care my friend ❤️

I am devastated to inform you that Toby crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday.
He joined the Happy Tailz gang when he was a tiny puppy and I saw him pretty much every month of his life.
Happy Tailz HQ will NEVER be the same again as he had so many friends, human and canine.
Last week he was with us playing in the park and now he's gone.
Toby was a huge personality, and then some, in a small body. He loved his time here and everybody he met loved him. He had a huge fanclub!
This is the only part of my job I hate. These dogs come into your life and they love you unconditionally they they break your heart into a million pieces.
Rest easy my Toby-Tobes. You were like family and I loved you so much. You had a special place in my heart and now my heart is breaking.
I miss you terribly and I will never forget you.

The harness in the photo should be avoided like the plague. Vets are seeing no end of shoulder issues in dogs because of this type of harness.

In a dog's forward movement, a harness with a ribbon crossing its chest from side to side hinders it in the same way humans would be bothered hiking with a rubber band holding their arms. Physiological movement of the front limb is inhibited. The same way rubber would inhibit the pendulum movement of our ARMS.

Thanks to the Study of Dog Movement, we now know that in the dog, the center of rotation of the front limb is at the top of the scapula, but in the human the center of rotation in the arm it's in the HUMOR.

The study demonstrates, among other things, the importance of scapula movement for dog locomotion. The importance of keeping the dog's shoulder free movement in mind is now understandable when choosing a chest harness.

That means there SHOULD be NO ribbons in the scapula area, and not going through the chest side to side either.

From the point of view of biomechanics and physiotherapy, it is recommended not to choose
walking harnesses that have a tape across the chest laterally, or that have tapes touching or pressing the scapula.

Always prefer harness models with ERGONOMIC design, to allow maximum freedom of movement of your dog, improve his well-being and safety during his walk.

Hi folks, after having Havant Borough Council carry out their inspection yesterday for my Boarding and Day Care Lisence renewal a few changes and new regulations need to be put in place immediately.

New packs including the following updated forms need to completed and returned to me as soon as possible. These forms will be sent out in due course:
🔹️Booking Form
🔹️Veterinary Release Form
🔹️Terms & Conditions
🔹️Service Agreement
🔹️Off Lead Walking Consent Form

I need to see evidence and take a copy of your dogs Vaccination and Kennel Cough records and evidence of all future boosters.
Evidence and of current and future Flea/Tick and Worming prevention

All dogs need to be secured in my van with a harness so please ensure you provide a harness for your dogs next visit. They need to be kept here to ensure we comply with the rules.

R.I.P. Smokey. You reached the ripe age of 16 and every day we had looking after you was a blessing. You joined the HT gang soon after we started Happy Tailz and became a regular.
You were one of the softest, kindest and loving dogs I had the pleasure of knowing and I will miss you terribly. Run free my pal. Love you always ❤️❤️

Dexter's been taking liberties and as it's his last night here at Happy Tailz HQ he decided to fall asleep on Storm for about half an hour. Storm gets alot of face washes from him so she allowed him. She's going to really miss the little guy, we all are, despite him being really naughty. I couldn't even begin to tell you in case his mum reads this post .....

We've had this young firecracker staying with us for a couple of weeks. Needless to say Skye has taken him under her wing. He loves playing with Skye, once he has removed the stuffing from a toy! ❤️

Neutering/Spaying too early

These are littermates - one was neutered too early, the other left intact.

Notice the permanent puppy-like body of the dog on the left. His head is narrow, his chest is narrow, his angulation is bad, he's taller than he is long because growth plates don't get the proper signals from testosterone or estrogen on when to close.

This is what early neutering/spaying does to your dog. It leaves them more susceptible to an incredible amount of health issues (joint issues, multiple types of cancer).

Meanwhile, the only fact in favour of early neutering/spaying is to prevent unwanted litters which can be prevented by not letting your dog roam - something we should already be on top of as responsible dog owners.

Dogs need hormones to grow and mature properly.

️🔺️Do your dogs a favour and wait until he/she is completely matured before neutering/spaying!🔺️
