Quick trip to Cherwell Competition Centre for some jumping yesterday 🤩 I’ve decided to focus on showjumping for a while, it’s something I used to love but now am struggling to enjoy and have lost my confidence with it all a bit. Malcolm jumped really well in both rounds and genuinely felt like he had fun 🤩🥰 thank you to all at Cherwell, as always the nicest place to compete and tip top organisation. And to Alison Parker Photography for the lovely photo 😍

We had a lovely trip down to Highcliffe Beach with Emily Braclik and TT-Photography 🥰 such a beautiful place to ride! We were a bit unlucky with massive waves, so the horses had some concerns about getting in the sea 😂 still so worth an early start! If you’re interested in taking your horse for a ride on the beach and having beautiful photos taken to capture those memories, get in touch with Paul Tarling ! 😍 can you tell which photo was taken just as a massive wave hit Paul from behind and soaked him up to his neck? 🤣🤣

We did it 🥳 it certainly wasn’t perfect with 34 dressage and 2 poles down, but we completed our first BE100, which 18 months ago seemed completely impossible to me! Malcolm has shown once again what a star he is cross country, jumping clear with just a few time pens and giving me so much confidence for this level! Now to get out to a few showjumping competitions to focus on polishing up our skills in the ring. Huge well done to Angus Stewart Eventing producing a textbook DC with our darling Don 💖🌟 so lovely to have Paul TT-Photography and Georgina GG Equine massage therapy sports and rehabilitation massage therapist there with us! This horse was a 4* horse.
He had jumped round Badminton and Burghley.
He had more starts eventing than I’d had hot dinners.
He was a well seasoned professional.

Yet here we are jumping around an unaffiliated 80cm.
Why?
Because although HE had jumped all the big tracks, WE hadn’t.
I’d jumped him around courses at home a few times, but we didn’t know each other very well and I wanted a track that I knew I would be 110% confident jumping.

Once you’ve clicked with a horse, worked out each others quirks and habits, everything falls into place and the size of the fence becomes irrelevant.
But before that, you have to allow room for error and miscommunications. Trust is not born overnight, it takes time to build.

So I entered the 80 and jumped double clear with a big smile on my face, instead of skidding round a 1.10 by the seat of my pants because I had no idea how this horse liked or needed to be ridden.

Never feel the height of a fence is a reflection of you or your horses ability. Equally, just because a horse has done it all, doesn’t mean the next rider has to start where they left off.

Do what you need to do. Run your own race.

Great (late) start to the season at Aston yesterday 🥳🌟 obligatory first outing spooks at the flowers, boards and the judges car cost us some marks in the dressage, ending up with 32.3 , followed by a super confident double clear inside the time 🌟 huge thank you to TT-Photography for all your help and support! First xc schooling of the year for Malcolm ✅

Great to be back at Attington Stud 2022 yesterday, Malcolm gave me a brilliant feeling and really enjoyed himself! So nice to get back in my Stride Free jump saddle, freshly checked by Saddle Kind👌 it has been waiting patiently for some action since the end of last season 😂 ready to crack on with more training now and excited to see what 2022 season brings 🤩 🚀

Malcolm has been loving his fitness hacks the last couple weeks, I have finally downloaded the Equilab app which has been brilliant for keeping track of distances and pace on our rides 🤩 (late to the party as usual😂) Sadly our winter ‘back to school’ programme has been forced to take a small break due to me dislocating my shoulder again 🙄 fingers crossed I will be up and running again in a few days, but until then all riding and teaching is suspended while I take a few days rest.

Trotting into the holidays like…

🏇🏻🤩🥳

The season is over and Malcolm and I have been enjoying some well deserved time off. Malcolm at home going into full feral mode the last couple of weeks, and I’m finally in Poland seeing family after a very long two years.

Still can’t believe that finally at the age of 30 I built up the courage to go Eventing 🥳 Feeling extremely grateful for my best friend Malcolm, we’ve come a long way together. From a horse terrified of his own shadow and a rider terrified of jumping a log, to actually competing in British Eventing and getting placed! Also very grateful to have been part of Rocky Lane Eventing for the last 4.5 years and with Angus Stewart Eventing taking the reins this season it has been rather emotional seeing the fantastic string of horses doing so well. So proud of everything our Rocky Lane family has achieved and grateful for all the inspiration, trust and support 🧡 time for everyone to relax and enjoy some down time before we all crack on with winter training, big plans all round for 2022 season!! 🤩💪🧡

So Swalcliffe did NOT go to plan yesterday 😬 Positives:
✅Super dressage for 29 from not the most generous judge 👏
✅ Probably my best plaits to date on Malcolm’s awkward mane 🤩
✅Malcolm was reunited with Storm who he grew up with in Ireland, first time they saw each other in nearly 5 years 🧡

Negatives
❌ miscommunication in the showjumping resulting in me on the floor and not getting to do the xc 🤦‍♀️😂
❌No Photographic evidence of said mishap!😩

thankfully TT-Photography was not there on this occasion as he would NOT have been a proud sponsor 😂 obviously I’m gutted but have to laugh! Fingers crossed we can revisit this week and have a schooling round over the really fabulous course 🤞 precious photo of Malcolm and Storm saying hello to each other 🥰

If you know me, you know I’m rarely lost for words 😂 but currently I really am! Yesterday Malcolm was the WINNER in his 90 section at Munstead Horse Trials 🥇🌟🤯🚀🥳 not in a million years would I ever think in my first season we would achieve multiple top 10 finishes let alone a WIN 🏆 . THANK YOU Malcolm for being the best teammate I could ever ask for 🧡 and TT-Photography , GG Equine massage therapy sports and rehbilitaion massage therapist , Saddle Kind and everyone at Rocky Lane Eventing , for always supporting us 🧡 and of course to all at Munstead for running such a lovely event.

So unbelievably proud of Angus Stewart Eventing and Taverna Tony WINNING their Novice section at West Wilts today!!! 🏆 what a journey it’s been with Tonka since I first met him as a giant 4yo. He’s had his fair share of doubters being well over 18hh, but I think he’s well and truly proven himself with clears in 2*S and L and now a WIN 🌟 what a fantastic testament to all the hard work Angus and Tonka have been putting in 👏👏👏 back tomorrow with Vinnie and Malcolm 😁

Great day at Solihull Riding Club BE90 on Saturday 🤩 unfortunately I had a mind blank and made a mistake in the test which resulted in a 33, rolled the last one in the showjumping but finished off on a super clear cross country with just 2 time penalties to finish 10th 🤩 thank you to everyone involved in running this event, so many lovely people there 🥰 2 BE events- 2 top 10 placings ✅ what a super star Malcolm is 🌟 thank you Top Shots Photography 📸

Extremely proud today of Suzy and Saoirse! I have been teaching Saoirse for a few years now, and she has made huge progress in the last year. We soon realised she was ready to take the step up from her first pony, and little did I know, she would be the most perfect match for my lovely pony Suzy! What they have achieved in just 6 weeks of partnership is truly amazing and I’m so proud of both of them. The proof is in the pudding, as today they came FIRST in their show at pony club camp, jumping a fabulous clear round! Huge well done to Saoirse and Suzy!! How great do they look together?! 🌟🧡👏

Finally took the plunge and did my first British Eventing Official event! We had the best day at Calmsden Horse Trials BE90, so well organised, perfect ground and a challenging but inviting course. We managed to pull off our best ever dressage score of 26.8 🤩 despite me making a slight mistake in the test. Clear round showjumping and a super clear xc with just 5.2 time faults to add, as I really focused on riding accurately rather than pushing for time. This meant we finished on a score of 32 and in 5th place in our section 🌟 couldn’t be happier with Malcolm who was a total pro all day.
