This weekend we are showcasing at The North East Dog Festival! We will be launching our BRAND NEW name and branding as we move from Rachel the Dog Lady to our new identity 💙

I am looking for helpers at the show, I could do with 1 more for each day … all you need to do is to be a friendly face that people can chat to if I’m busy with someone else, and to hand out our brand new leaflets and info.

Yesterday was ‘international dog day’ but we were a little busy running our sheepdog trial day… so today I celebrate and show you just a handful of our dogs over the last few years…. I grew up with dogs and I’m so happy my kids get to do the same ❤️ show me your dogs below! 🐾

“Just ignore the dog please”

A sentence I use a lot! A reason why my personal dogs usually don’t even get up out there beds when new people come to my house.

Asking people to not touch or pet your pup when out on a walk will help to teach them not to want to run to or pull towards people as by letting this happen you condition them to want it to happen,

Asking people to ignore the dog when they come to your house will teach the dogs it’s not an event worth being very excited about and keep them calmer.

Just ignore the dog is the advice I also give you if your dog goes mental when you come home and if you or your family get very excitable with the dog on return. Ignore til calmer then greet calmly.

There’s lots more to this and lots more you can do but these are some of the key things I do and recommend as a starting point for dogs that go mental when people come round or when you get home from work and as basics for puppies!

For example, if you can’t physically keep your dog back off visitors then the dog needs to be on a lead or tether before you open the door so you can control the situation.

You don’t need to know everything, I can tell you what you don’t already know, I do need you to be good with people, and be happy to spend a half a day ish with me in return for a weekend ticket and your lunch!

Those proper stripped ears bring me so much joy 🫶🏻

The gorgeous Molly came in for her regular Handstrip today… as usual the only bits I trimmed by cutting the hair was around the pads/paws and hygiene/sensitive areas.. EVERYTHING else is stripped 👌🏼

DOG HOTEL UPDATE 🐾…. Foundations are IN, next step is the steel frame from then can do their thing and finish the rest! Once the frame is up things are going to pretty quick and it’s going to be open before we know it!

It’s all very scary and very exciting and I feel like I’m going to burst.

I cried when we first cleared the site and moved the portacabin, I’ve kept it together since but I think the frame going up will be the next ‘cry milestone’ 🤣…

It’s taken a long time to get here and I’m just so lucky we can do this.

My passion has always been about the dog and what we can do to reduce stress in any situation, I hope to continue to help many more dogs with our new Doggy ‘Hotel & Spa’

New Dog Hotel is also opening winter THIS YEAR! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Il be setting up a Facebook group for my clients, and I’m going to make a website this month, and start making some video content about the home dog boarding, the new build and why we are different to everyone else.

Teeth cleaning will commence very soon too! So watch this space!

🐾 Teddy - not such a fluffy teddy now he’s has his hand strip!

2.5 hours of literally pulling his hair out.

Don’t worry though It sounds bad, but he never flinches.

If the technique is correct and the coat is correct it should be entirely pain free.

My terriers literally fall asleep when I do them 💤

It helps maintain the natural properties and coursness of a wire coat. It also keep the colour much more vibrant 🤌🏻

Ozzy…. Hates having is nails done, I manage 2 every time he comes 😂🙈…. He’s great for everything else and is also super cute… seems this week has been a super cute week as all my dogs have been lush! ❤️…. I used a 10ml attachment comb all over and tidied his legs and head! ✂️

Holly the collie! 💖

Hollies a nervous dog so the last time she came it was just to brush out some of her undercoat and test how she is with grooming. She did really well so today she came for a full bath, blow dry and trim! She was really good and coped really well’

I absolutely love an Airdale Terrier! ( yes I said terrier! They are the largest of the terrier group)

This one has had the main of his body stripped, previous groomers have scissored his front legs and face and the coat is very soft. Because of this he was not a fan of having it stripped the traditional way.

So we’ve stripped his body and what could be stripped comfortably then scissored his legs and face.

He was rather tatty and smelly before his strip but now he smells like lemon grass and is so fluffy you just want to cuddle him!! ❤️🫶🏻🐾

That paw up 🥺…. She managed to do the exact same pose for her before and after pics!

This border terrier is one of the hand few that get clipped instead of stripped, she’s an OAP now and doesn’t enjoy it very much so we made the decision to clip instead! She has an extremely thick coat that was Full of undercoat but when we bathed her we managed to deshed a small mountain of hair!!

I don’t do mobile grooming or do collections usually but in this case the lady can’t drive or get anyone to bring him so I went 15 mins to Humsaugh to collect him! He was really good bless him! ——— see the next pic for the before!!

HOW FREAKING CUTE is this little guy…

He’s a Teckle and a very cute one! His coat had been clipped by a different groomer so today I have stripped him again to bring back his wire coat and thankfully it’s stripped really well! He’s was a good boy for his first time here! 🐾🪄.
