Our Story

MatchPig is closely aligned with April Lodge Guinea Pig Rescue and is run from adjacent premises but as a separate entity. MatchPig was launched after repeated enquiries from people who were left with a lonely guinea pig after its companion died and they desperately wanted to get a new friend but were unsure or afraid of the process. The bonding of two animals unknown to each is often fraught and frequently better left to those with more experience. As well as fourteen years experience running April Lodge Guinea Pig Rescue, Val Savage has taken a particular interest in guinea pig idiosyncrasies, psyche, body language and vocal sounds and has paired literally hundreds of guinea pigs over the years for the charity. This experience can now be applied to a dedicated introduction service for those living within the East Kent catchment area.
