Tips 2 and 3 I’ve advocated for years, Tip 1, great point and one to go on the puppy doc! Tip 3, said this so many times, reward your dog, don’t bribe it!!! It’s completely different!

So much has changed in 11 years! Out counting grouse with the pointers whilst due to drop Elizabeth (who we were convinced was a boy) vs out on a different hill with different dogs and my 10 nearly 11 year old daughter! 🥰

We went to see some glorious springer pups a few weeks back that go back to my first field trial winner. The dam is a really strong, beautifully made working bitch with all the health tests and the litter has been screened all clear for MRD. One male and female available from a litter of 9, Highlands. Recommended if you’re looking for a solid working type springer 🥰 very reasonably priced and owner is a vet nurse

One of my many fears when selling puppies is lack of awareness of this very real condition, amongst many other things (stick retrieving injuries, ball chasing injuries, slippy floors, breeder anxiety is REAL!). Petal would be an absolute candidate for suffering this if I didn’t control her water intake and a dog died from this locally last year

Belated (sorry we were too busy enjoying the sun to be on social media) happy 2nd birthday to the Rothievale Ws and 5th birthday to the Rothievale Us! Our own Daffy aka Rothievale Uva Ursi enjoyed her day doing what she loves best, swimming! We went to a birthday party for her litter at Auchterhouse and she met up with her sister and her daughters 🥰

Everytime I get an update about Poppy’s awesome son Jules I well up. So proud. Great work Jules and his trainers 🥰

Jules alerted Jade a few minutes before this picture was taken as he detected a change in her odour which meant she was about to collapse due to her condition, . She then knew that she needed to lie down. Before having Jules, this would have happened suddenly, without any warning and she suffered injuries such as black eyes and dislocations daily.

No words, just happy tears. Well done Jules aka Rothievale Vanda 🥰 and the incredible team that made this happen. I’m so so delighted that this precious puppy is now making such a big difference in someone life 🥰 he looks so like his mum Poppy in this photo who I absolutely adore and is a Therapet herself. So pleased for Jade

We’re delighted to introduce you to our newly accredited partnership, Jade and Jules. Jules hasn’t missed an alert to one of Jade’s oncoming episodes and has completely transformed her life. Prior to Jules, Jade was practically housebound, suffering injuries daily. But with his nose looking after her, she has even been able to resume her studies to become a vet, enabling her in turn to make a difference to other animals.

Jade says: “Jules will change my future and the difference he will make is impossible to quantify.”

Petal 🤦‍♀️ poor Poppy 🙄

Longer video this time. Petal in the truck squeaking with frustration (due bad behaviour running in to Poppy’s retrieve). This time the dummy got stuck in the tree and poor Bean didn’t work it out, Rocket had the brain and wiped her eye after initially going to help her with her failed mission 🤣

Bit of fun with Elizabeth this afternoon and her hilarious dummy throwing skills and Petals ridiculous over enthusiasm and overshoot 🤣 Daffy clearly unimpressed 🤣

Daffy….this silly exercise doesn’t apply to me 🤦‍♀️ to be fair to her, she wasn’t driven enough in her work to introduce the stop whistle 🤣

So pleased with Rocket, he’s a delight and easy to train, which says a lot when it comes to cockers. There’s certainly some cocker traits in him (retrieves are all his and should be placed in a special place 🤣🙄) but gladly thus far he is quiet, has mastered sitting at a distance, walks nicely on the lead and loves his retrieving, even stopping on the whistle whilst hunting.

Take 2, this time at midday so not so much focus as previous video which was breakfast time! Note the 2 clowns who aren’t paying attention and having too much fun 🤣

Dogs are loving their new home. Rocket being a patient boy too, not bad for a cocker baby.

This stunning Merlin daughter is a new mum to a Ruger litter. She is a fantastic working dog, hip and elbow scored and eyes tested. There is one bitch and 2 dogs available, undocked. PM me if interested

This video made me laugh of Poppy’s puppies from her first litter who were waiting their microchipping with waggy tails, just like Poppy!

The chance of me breeding another Rothievale Field Trial Champion is 0 especially as I have sadly lost my line and desire to breed the X factor that often the average shooting man or beater can’t hold. Instead I’ve decided to concentrate on an easy to manage spaniel, doesn’t set the world on fire but won’t pull you about. She’s sired by our own dog Oak who is son of FTCh Rothievale Maple and her dam is a very sweet Buccleuch bitch by FTCh Buccleuch Pepper and out of FTCh Buccleuch Onyx. She’s honest, a lovely retriever and has no faults. She might not win a trial but she has won my heart 🥰
