Say Hello to Marvellous Maddie!

Maddie is the sweetest little doggo ever, and with that she is a little bit timid.
Maddie and her mum came to us with some questions on how to stop Maddie being reactive to Dogs/People walking by her house and how to improve heel walking.

For this session, We really focused on the importance on getting eye contact from Maddie and how to get this engagement. We also discussed how we can improve house Pet-iquette and what little changes and activities we can do to help Maddie recognise her Mum as the leader of the pack and build that trust.

Maddie is going to be a phenominaly quick learner who is going to pick all these little things up super quick and she will be a superstar in no time at all!

Welcome to the Wonderful Nala!

Tonight I had the pleasure of meeting Nala and her sister Mitsi! The sweetest most loveable doggos ever!

Nala is giving her mum and dad a rough time with some lead pulling, so we were able to work on some techniques on how we can stop Pulling on the lead. Nala is brilliantly attentive to her Mum’s shouts of her name and we were practising matching her shouts with getting Nala to look at her eyes for a better engagement.

All in all, I’m confident in a couple of weeks, with some consistent loving leadership, Nala will be heel walking brilliantly! Great going Nala and her parents🐾🐶

Freedom is Important too!

Just as important as training, we need to let our Canine Companions be free and explore the world too! The more you let them socialise to their environment, the easier it will be to train them to do what you need them to do!
It’s also a great tool to tire your doggo out and we all know a Tired dog is a good dog!

And a Huge Welcome to Super Smudge!

Smudge came to us with his mother after he had got a bit excited and huer his mums hand by being a bit excited😞

In a wonderful session in the pitch black! We managed to work on how to get Smudge to Engage with us and make sure he is looking at our eyes when we speak to him. We also worked on some Changing direction drills whigh will help him realise that Mums in charge and not him!

I cant wait to see the progress of this fantastic boy over the next few weeks! 🐶🐾

Welcome to the Wonderful Pip!

A Romanian Rescue with nothing but love! Pip is a wonderfully trained Pup already with her Mum doing some fantastic lead work!
Pip struggles with some bigger dogs and containing her excitement when her Dads around.
With some Boundaries, Pip’s Mum is going to help her understand that it’s not ok to Yip and Lunge at Bigger dogs and that she is perfectly safe with her Mum beside her.

A wonderful Doggo already, Pip is already on her way to Pawfect Pet-Iquette!

The dog days are over!

Well maybe not. Your dog, just like us Humans, can have bad days too!

Have you spent weeks and weeks training recall, but today they aren’t listening? Believe it or not, that’s 100% fine! It doesn’t mean you haven’t trained your dog, or that they don’t understand. They are simply just having a bad day.

The best ways to counter act this is to make you as fun as possible for the dog. Don’t get upset or angry, stay calm and consistant, and make sure your rewarding your pup everytime they do what you want.

Welcome Scarlet to her journey to Pawfect Pet-iquette!

Working a wonderful session on Friday, Scarlet had a brilliant love for her dad and we worked on how to use that love and excitement in a positive way to get better engagement and to stop pulling on the lead! We also worked on some dog manors for in and around the house and how to use a Lead as a tool to communicate with Scarlet!

Being a Staffy Cross, Scarlet reminds me of Hera in that she’s very strong willed but also incredibly smart and willing to please (Especially for a treat)!

For the next week, Scarlets Dad & Mum have been given Homework to help increase Scarlets Reactivity to their Voices and the starts of Stopping Scarlet from pulling on the lead!

I Cant wait to catch up with Scarlet in a couple of weeks to see her progress and help her Mum and Dad create a great Canine Companion from the most loving friendly doggo!

Had a wonderful first session with Gemma Provan and Milo!
During this session we managed to work on the importance of Eye contact and Engagement from Milo the 1 Year old Chocolate Lab.

With a little bit of Homework and Time, Milo is going to be a Phenomenal Canine Companion full of Loyalty and Love for his Owners🐶🐾

Dog Instincts!

What was your dog breed to do?
In a majority of dogs, their natural instincts still exist so let them go back to doing what they were made for.
Letting your dog Hunt or Guard or Retrieve is a great way to A-Tire your dog out & B- Help them develop and train easier.
If your dog has a natural built in want to hunt, use that as your training tool, allow them to hunt in a gun safe manor. If your dog wants to guard, take them to a large field and let them guard and keep look out for a while, Uf your dog wants to retrieve, go play fetch in long overgrown grass.

Never think your dog doesn’t have natural wants to do what it was breed for! Let it be a dog!

Have you taught your dog what “come” means?
If your dog doesn’t respond, it’s because it hasnt been taught to return upon your call.

Start with some basics in the house, Use a treat and call their name, once they start doing the desired response, put you “come” command in, and reward with a treat.

Yes it’s really that simple. Then it’s just repeat repeat repeat. Doing it in different environments and around different people and dogs.

Not all dogs like each other, And that’s perfectly OK!

Much like humans, we don’t always want someone in our face trying to talk to us and dogs are the same. Now we need to create the understanding between us and them and knowing when they are saying “Nope, I don’t want to be in this situation”.
