🪳 TICK SEASON 🪳

Tick season is well & truly in full swing this year!

Ticks are parasites that feed on the blood of their hosts, which are often dogs.🩸

There are a few things that you can do to prevent your dog from getting ticks:

• use a regular vet recommended flea & tick treatment
• avoid walking through woodland and long grass areas in the warmer months, try to stick to the paths and open spaces
• check your dog daily after walks
• have a tick remover to hand (these are so cheap and effective)
• know the risks and correct way to treat/remove them

Ticks can transmit a number of diseases to your dog including Lyme disease which can be fatal if left untreated.

🐾‼️ IMPORTANT NOTICE ‼️🐾

For all boarding dogs, daily & overnight stay. These are the requirements that need to be met prior to boarding with us.

🐾 All dogs MUST be fully vaccinated.

- Vaccinations play a massive role in protecting dogs from major canine infectious diseases. These include viral and bacterial infections.
- When dogs board, the owner should provide the most up to date vaccination record which will be photocopied and attached to the dogs paperwork for the duration of their stay. The vaccination record will be re-photocopied as and when there are any new vaccinations.
- Dogs who are unvaccinated or have missed yearly boosters will need to restart vaccinations prior to boarding. After the first vaccination is administered, your vet will book your dog in for their second vaccination 2 weeks later. This will protect them for a year before their yearly routine booster is due. (Ask if your vet provides a Health Plan, as I know with our vets (Wilson & Partners) they offer this service with primary vaccinations being half price and yearly routine boosters being free on this plan).
- The course of vaccination must have been completed at least four weeks prior to boarding to minimise risk of infectious diseases.
- Kennel Cough Vaccine is not required for Home Boarding.

🐾 All dogs MUST have been treated for fleas, worms and ticks prior to boarding.

- Proof of this is required prior to boarding. This will be attached to your dogs paperwork.
- Please be aware that I take all of these precautions for my own dog. She is routinely treated via the Health Plan with my vets.
- Please also be aware that our house is regularly treated, following guidance from Fife Council and the Vet who completed our home inspection before granting my license. We also use vet recommended cleaning products.
- There is a fully stocked K-9 First Aid Kit on site at all times.

🐾 All dogs must be microchipped prior to boarding.

- A copy of the Microchip number is required to be stated on the paperwork. This is usually found inside the vaccination record.
- Please ensure Microchip records have the most up to date emergency contact details prior to boarding.
- All dogs when boarding will need to wear their own collar and they will also wear one of my own personalised identity dog tags. This will be attached to their collar, and in the unlikely event of dogs slipping collars or harnesses, my contact details and address are on them.

🐾 Neutered/Un-neutered dogs

- We accept both neutered and un-neutered dogs for boarding, however if a female is due to go into season, we will not board her while an intact male is also boarding.
- We do not accept females who are actively in season for the duration of her cycle. (Usually 2-4 weeks)

🐾 Socialisation

- All dogs must be well socialised with dogs, children and humans. We cannot accept dogs who don’t mix well with common breeds.
- All dogs will be required to come for a pre-visit to meet the resident dog and make sure they get along before boarding can take place.
- We cannot accept any dogs registered under the Dangerous Dog Act 1991.

🐾 Food

- All dogs must come with their own food and treats.
- If a dogs food is required to be cooked, this will incur an additional charge.
- A feeding schedule is on my paperwork and will be completed prior to boarding.
- Food dishes can be provided by the owner or myself.
- Water dishes will be supplied from myself.

🐾 Medication

- If your dog is on medication, this will be discussed and recorded on the paperwork at the pre-visit.
- Medication will be provided by the owner, ensuring your dog has enough for the duration of their stay.

🐾 Bedding

- If your dog sleeps in a dog bed, please bring this for their stay.
- If your dog sleeps in a crate, please bring their crate for their stay.
- Please note, only dogs who are crate trained and actively using a crate at home are allowed to be in a crate during their stay here.

These requirements come from Fife Council; by not following these protocols, it could lead to my license being revoked. All dogs and humans should be safe when dogs are boarding 🏡

We offer a full dog boarding and day care service here at Snout ‘N’ About. Our boarding service is true home from home style, ensuring that your dog feels just as safe & loved here as they do in their own home. Your dog will have endless love, plenty cuddles and a whole lot of fun!

We understand that leaving your dog in someone else’s care can be very nerve-wracking, so we strive to ensure that the transition from your home to ours is as seamless as possible. We also ensure that your dog’s routine is as normal as can be and treat them like our very own!

Sleeping on comfy sofas with lots of lovely toys, enjoying our secure garden and meeting new doggy friends - your dog will simply enjoy their little holiday or daycare sessions here with us. Rest assured that your furry friend will be in good hands!

Dog walking services will also be available in the coming weeks - this service will include pick ups/drop offs, 30 minute walks (older dogs), 60 minute solo walks, 60 minute group walks and comfort visits.
