TABLES for RENT, within 'Bonny Bow-wows!', Polbeth, West Lothian.

Ideal self employment opportunity for New Groomers and Experience Groomers, without the stress and expense of business set up, ordering and main running costs.

Due to semi retirement for health reasons, I have two tables available for rent in my fully kitted out grooming studio on a full/part time basis.

The studio is available to renters, between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday. Late nights to 8pm by negotiation.

Knowing how difficult it is for new groomers to get started in self employed the salon will consider newly qualified/salon trained groomers. An element of support and mentorship can be provided by myself. This should also naturally happen by being part of a hand picked self employed team within the studio.

Application to rent does not guarantee acceptance as there will still be an interview process, portfolio and possibly demo groom or service, and trial period required, in order to make sure that the renter is a good fit for the studio, the team and vice versa.

For further information on what is included and not included in the contract etc, and to apply, please private message me via 'Bonny Bow-wows!' Business FB page. Tell me a bit about yourself and also your grooming journey thus far.

Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Major is a lovely old gentle giant that had never been professionally groomed before but was very well behaved. Out of choice he lives outside in the garden the majority of the time, shuns his kennel and mostly is only indoors at night. In better weather his owners hose him down. So you can imagine the work that was involved to get him clean, sorted out and looking as handsome as he does in his owner's photo below. Thank you Heather for your kind words. It was a privilege to spend time with your gorgeous boy and we both hope to see him again. 💖🐾

Check out the before and after photos of the gorgeous Rhum, a 7 month old Briard puppy (yes he is big! and going to be huge and very heavy when fully grown.). I groomed him on 13th August as a favour to his owner Richard, John's Big Boss, because we're not open yet, so he was unofficially my first client! Rhum leads a wonderfully active lifestyle and I think Richard had forgotten how lovely and soft his pup's coat should feel and also what colour his legs and belly were meant to be, as he didn't think Rhum was too muddy, lol. Rhum got 3 x conditioning shampoo (yes 3! before the rinse water ran clear!), 1 x conditioner and a fair amount of de-tangler spray to produce the cuddle-worthy finished result that his owner was delighted with. I also gave him a hygiene tidy up, clipped his claws and trimmed his eyes a little at his owners request so that his beautiful eyes can be seen when his fringe is pushed back and he can see us. Next time I'll get those wonderful big paws trimmed. As he has been a lockdown pup this was his first trip to a groomer and the first time away from his family. He was a very brave boy and did really well. Both Rhum and I were exhausted afterwards!

With the Groomer's consent I am sharing her post about the Q&A program that aired on Monday evening.

Some of you might have seen Coronavirus Q&A on ITV tonight where the question was raised about whether dogs are able to be groomed.

The answer given was that salon groomers are non essential and should be closed which I am, but mobile groomers can operate as long as social distancing guidelines are adhered to.

This is not new information, it’s always been the case and it’s important to note that the information given in the answer was not wrong.

It has always formed part of the government guidelines that you can travel for the purpose of work where it is not possible to work from home.

The problem comes from the fact that although it’s legal to work, it’s just not viable to achieve the level of hygiene that would be required to eradicate any sign of the virus from the dog, the van, and the groomer.

There are many other reasons that mobile groomers should not be working including reasons relating to the safety of the dog during a ‘contact free’ handover, but for this one reason alone, taking in to account that they would be visiting multiple households and grooming multiple dogs, they cannot, in good conscience risk spreading the virus any further and sending it back in to your homes.

The current restrictions do not even allow me to visit my own family or anybody from another household, so I’m sorry, but they shouldn’t be risking visiting your household either.

Please, please keep following the government advice to;

STAY AT HOME 💙 PROTECT THE NHS 💙 SAVE LIVES

We’re all in this together.

Much love, as always 💜

Copied from another groomer with their permission.

*******

Why I am not currently open ....

So here is the actual reality of ‘considering’ grooming dogs at this particular time. It’s a long read but bare with it and take these other points into consideration:

For a groomer to do what the regulations state we would need to;

Reinsure as pet transporters and have a suitable vehicle with crates to transport dogs in
Reinsure car as business use
Put you at risk of Covid19
Put ourselves at risk of Covid19
Bankrupt our clients!!!!!!... keep reading...

Please read, it’s really worth it!!!!

DEFRA/CFSG (stupidly in my opinion) released a statement on Tuesday 7th April which seemingly allows a loophole for groomers and dog walkers to resume work!

HOWEVER it is worded in that, they are not giving permission BUT they are showing they are supporting our industry 🤦🏼‍♀️

Just so you know why I won’t be reopening (and I hope you understand why and support me in this)...

This is the procedure I would have to undertake, at all times keeping a minimum of 2m from you, wearing FULL PPE of masks, face shields, gloves, aprons etc (which in my opinion I shouldn’t be buying all the time the NHS are short) :

• collect your dog (this can be only one households dog at any one time... multiple dog households have to be one at a time) - you CANNOT drive your dog to me. You also CANNOT walk it to me.

• disinfect your dog safely before putting it in my car along with removing your collar/lead and replacing with my own, safely (10-20mins)

• change my entire PPE get up for new before entering my premises (10-15mins)

• take your dog through my premises, past my pets with zero contact (so no it couldn’t touch the floor etc) (10mins)

• disinfect the dog again (10mins)

• wash & groom as normal (to dry we use high velocity dryers which would blow any potential virus their coat is carrying up into the air within my premises - and maybe even enough to float a little bit of virus out the window towards anyone surrounding business or homes (1-2hrs+)

• take your dog back through my premises without contact and without interaction with my pets (10mins)

• bring them back to you, again maintaining the 2m & full PPE (by which point I would have had to have a full PPE change again) (30-40mins) and change my collar/lead to your own while trying to keep social distancing not to get infected

* at this point you’ve got your dog back groomed *

• I then need to FULLY decontaminate my vehicle (1hr30)

• I then need to FULLY decontaminate my grooming premises (2-3hrs)

So in summary - that’s 7, yes SEVEN hours work to groom said dog. If that wasn’t bad enough, you still technically have to disinfect your dog when it comes back to you but my price would supposedly need to reflect this time...so say your dog normally costs £35 and is done in just over an hour...you’re now looking at:

• increasing the risk of spreading the virus
• using 4 sets of full PPE kit which the NHS could be using to help actual dying people
• paying your normal £35 PLUS the extra £120 for the extra time

All because we can’t cope with brushing our dogs for an extra month or so??? I understand some have more complex requirements but this is just your generic dog.

Please support me, my business & the government guidelines during this awful time & don’t use these businesses that choose to use these very small and dangerous loopholes. It’s appalling. I understand we are struggling for money, I’ve dropped to zero income but still have bills to pay as well so I’m feeling it too. But it is so unnecessary to be taking these risks. I’d be horrified if I lost any of you to this horrible horrible virus.

Stay home and stay safe!

I'd like you all to meet sweet wee Bonny. 🐩

I was about 12 yrs when I first experience poodle love. 🐾♥️🐩♥️🐾

My grooming business is obviously named after Bonny.

Also, the song ...
Daddy Wouldn't Buy Me A Bow-wow!
I've got a p***y cat and I'm very fond of that but I'd rather have a bow-wow-wow!! 🐾🐩🐕

This was true as I had a lovely cat called P***y but I also really wanted my own dog, not just a share in the family dogs! 🐾🐕
So, along came Bonny!!🐩♥️
